  1. It has been my observation that it is in fact way more susceptible to breakage. (Reddish-brown)
  2. It is. @nerdsforprez I see what you mean now, maybe the fan is orange for safety reasons.
  3. This pretty well sums up the way I see it as well.
  4. Quite a few are like that, they usually come with an optional hairpiece as well.
  5. Why would you need that, sounds a bit nefarious to my conspiracy minded views.
  6. I really don't understand how using one color over another constitutes laziness but okay, honestly that term gets thrown around so much on this forum that it could mean just about anything. I usually am not bothered by the color variations that much, however I might be on this one. I will get this set and build, then if I don't like the "color vomit" I will change it. Fortunately all those pieces are fairly common and I have gobs of them in black, dark grey and light grey not sure which color would best fit. Hopefully not to much of it shows and I can just go with it the way it is. This will be my biggest build to date so I am really looking forward to it. Like what I see so far in those pictures, thanks Ctan.
  7. Except if you did this, you would just have twice as many unmatched panels.
  8. Okay nice creation and it sounds like you and your daughter had a lot of fun putting it together, so I will not blow holes in your narrative. Brick on and good job.
  9. Was this set purchased unopened from an actual business? Nevermind
  10. This statement doesn't really make sense to me, sort of an oxymoron, example please. Please take no offense, I have just been trying to figure out your point exactly. You seem to be going back and forth on what is okay with you and what is not. It seems to me you have problems more with the secondary market people than TLG. Also you keep citing shady practices of other companies to create this artificial rarity thing not really LEGO. Sorry I am just not getting it. I do get that they have miscalculated the demand for some sets and minifigures, just not seeing the shady practice aspect of it, or why people should be making a big deal out of it.
  11. Very well done indeed, the dome and all the curved walls look good but I think the interior is fantastic, these sort of builds never cease to amaze me. Also like all the details without looking to busy or messy. Good job on this one for sure.
  12. Ha my favorite ride as a wee lad, also known as the pocket emptier, feller could make a fair bit of money standing around under it. Also a dangerous ride as far as mishaps go, even outlawed in many places, more than a few people lost their lives sadly.
  13. Holy cow your all over it. I do agree these four at least would be great mods. Can't wait to see what people come up with, thinking this set will be good for modding, I fear they will all be done by the time I get my set though. Good thing though I will have many ideas to review, for my own mods, fortunately I have many spare parts laying around.
  14. Well if you keep saying it every 3 or 4 hours your bound to be right sooner or later. I get it though, I too am anxious to see it.
  15. Like it quite a lot, fine work indeed. I have a feeling it is deceptively large as well.
  16. As far as I know there is no 76106 set, they apparently skipped that number, maybe cancelled set or one may be released at a later date.
  17. Okay I see, I am a collector, I collect Speed Champions have about 70%, LEGO The Batman Movie about 92% and just parts about 20%, also a few others, not so much minifigs although I have well over 600 of them. Do I ever expect to achieve 100% on any of them, highly unlikely. I guess I am not a completist although I know there are many and those are the ones being exploited To me the three main reasons for collecting are personal satisfaction, bragging/coolness rights and monetary gain. I do it for the first two reasons, although I do like to believe it's all worth something. Now to me it would be pointless to collect if those reasons were easily achievable, so I understand why a bit of forced rarity is necessary. There is certainly a fine line between collectable and unobtainable which there are a fair share of sets and parts of the former and I actually have them listed as such on my wish list. I am okay with that though, others not so much. That's where the secondary market kicks in and I just flat refuse to deal with that. Certainly TLG knows about this and exploits it to gain recognition and boost sales and I am glad they do, again otherwise collecting would be pointless from an AFOL perspective. Of course they don't always get it right and the scalpers make a killing on the people that must complete their collection. Not sure what TLG could do about that though, I certainly understand why they want a certain amount of forced rarity though. All in all I think LEGO does a decent job of it, sometimes they do screw up though. Sometimes it's just too hard to judge the whims of the collector and greed of the scalpers.
  18. I guess I don't really understand what the gripe is, are you against companies making limited edition stuff. You would rather have them saturate the market to the point of them not being able to even sell items at mrsp then waiting 50 years or so then it becomes rarer. Hard to run a business like that. Personally I like getting a hold of limited edition stuff at mrsp. I do not feel I need anything bad enough to pay collectors prices though and if that is the only way to get it I just do without. Also I know there is a huge difference between a rare items value and what someone will actually pay. All in all I don't feel slighted in the least because some company didn't make available to me something I feel I absolutely can't do without. Simply because that item doesn't exist to me anyway. Maybe an actual example would help me understand better, other than Mr. Gold.
  19. You do realize this is a four year old topic about a LEGO car right. @willingdiaphragm
  20. Yes it is, in fact I was looking at one a couple of days ago, strongly considering buying one before they are gone, I hear it's a great build.
  21. Picture would be nice.
  22. Why are you guys offering advice to a question that was asked over a year ago, surely she has already made her decision and why @JarJarBonks do you keep dredging up these relics?
  23. Seems like half the time I read about broken LEGO elements, it's reddish-brown, makes me wonder why this color so often, what are they using as pigmentation? Hopefully they send you more than just one replacement piece since they are likely cheaper than the packaging and postage. I still have yet to notice any cracks or broken pieces in my collection, albeit I have only been doing this for two years. I do have over 100,000 elements though.
  24. Are these sets flying off the shelves everywhere or just here? I went to Target three consecutive days, first day no HP sets the next day they had a cardboard display set up in the aisle with about sixty assorted sets, then the third day all gone except for a couple of the small spider sets. They were not on sale either full MRSP. Maybe scalpers are scarfing them up for big bucks. Makes me wonder if these are going to be hard to get, maybe I should have grabbed them when I had the chance. Thing is this Target is kind of out of the way and not one of those huge Super Stores.
  25. Crazy cool, I can envision a whole theme based on this vehicle, great idea. Looks like much fun to play with as well.
