  1. There has been at least two incidences in which this set came with the wrong inner box. The first case got box 1 - 2 - 2, and the second case got box 2 - 3 - 3. Something must have gone wrong with TLG's QA. I don't recall having seen something like this before. It must have been awful to spend 450 EUR/USD only to receive a set that you can't build from. In the first case TLG actually offered to send another set on the condition that the buyer sends back the faulty set.
  2. Yes! That technique is very useful when I need an arrangement that involves a worm gear but stays within a 3 stud space. A worm gear with the 8z gear doesn't provide enough torque. Your support is very much appreciated!
  3. The drivetrains for the functions in the trailer look like this. The whole trailer is built on 2 3x13 frames. I can't stress how useful this piece is for my models. In fact I'm not sure if I can design the trailer without it. The knob in the back drive the two mini LAs, which raise the upper stage of the cranes. The knob at the front on the left (driver side) lowers the standing legs. The lower stage needs a wider range of movement and higher driving torque, so I used a pair of liftarms. The drivetrain is geared down toward a worm gear driven by another knob on the right (passenger) side. Because there's a gear directly below the container, the container has to sit a bit higher, through two plates attached in the bottom.
  4. Remember when Technic was about cool functions? Pepperidge Farm remembers. THE TRUCK At this scale there's no point making a drivetrain and a fake engine. Therefore the tiltable hood is also excluded in favor of accurate shaping and structural integrity. There's also a bed in the sleeper cab, just like in the original 42078. The side walls also incline outward, just like in the original 42078. In the back you can also see the fifth wheel mechanism I designed for trucks at this scale. The trailer has a pulley wheel that can slide between the 2 1x5 thin liftarms. The LBG thin liftarm when rotated 90 degree counterclockwise will push the thin 1x4 liftarm behind the pulley wheel, and it will stay locked thanks to a ratchet mechanism in the frame. The black connector on the other side will release the lock. THE TRAILER You don't need a gear rack and a holder to create a sliding supporting leg, since a sliding axle can do the same thing. The standing legs are controlled by the quarter 2x3 liftarms in the back. The cranes are synchronized and are controlled through two knobs, one in the back and one on the other side. The "container" is not exactly a container but more like a skeletal frame. I did start with a fully panelled container, but it turns out to be too heavy for the crane to lift. I had to strip it down to the bare minimum, and what you see is the most optimal design that can balance between look and function. MODEL IN ACTION INSTRUCTION https://reb.li/m/269880
  5. The transsion is smoother because the drive train doesnt have to drive idle gears. In any gear only 4 gears are engaged. That is the realistic part.
  6. It can be used only as a collective swashplate. The hole in the middle allows an axle to slide, while the 3 pins can be used to connect to 3 blades.
  7. Since TLG is doing it, how about Custom Garage Contest
  8. Actually the only good thing is Dark Blue mudguard. Now if only it has the flat version as well, so that I can do a Gen 2 Ford Raptor.
