LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lucarex replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oh I remember that as was in a LEGO store either launch day or day after and seeing both “NEW” on display and not being able to choose which to get. Ended up deciding to think it over as was enjoying getting a couple of sets and various bits for my newly Lego-obsessed youngest who was with me. The sad end to this story is I never got around to getting either before they retired. -
Just gorgeous. Superb recreation. I was hoping that the SC classic Porsche 911 would trigger a Testarossa set (in white of course, I grew up watching MV) but alas no sign of that.

LEGO Ninjago 2021

Huh? Old Trafford has absolutely zero relevance to Gardens of Ninjago City. Or relevance in general. There’s speculation and then there’s pointless froth without any basis. Just be patient and thankful that it’s all but certain GONC will be released between mid January and early March, and if we’re lucky we’ll see pics a week or so before the first VIP access. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Lucarex replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I’m not in the US. And the George Floyd case and consequences resonated across the globe. Then again, it’s a fantastically topical set if you consider this... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-55089146 -
So the first unconfirmed leak it seems: Set 21056 - Unknown subject TBC - released August 2021 - $129.99

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Lucarex replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I get your first point. But your second is exactly the solution LEGO could and should have taken. We’ve seen it before albeit with a slight delay on a much smaller set (Las Vegas re. Mandalay Bay). I’m not convinced they only have the next modular in development. They could have switched to another possibly or if time was too tight over the past 6 months, then adapt the facade and details a little bit to something like a court house or library as suggested in this thread. Anything but a police station. I mean really? City provides that already every other year. -
Yeah it’s all a bit odd and random. You’re right about Jaws even though it’s been referenced before (the SHARK poster in the Stranger Things set). You’re probably right about Funko, as well as Jaws, recall they also made a Sharknado fig with a limited edition “blood” version too. As for the vote, I felt that same way initially but in the end just went with SW and specified General Grievous for the hell of it.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Lucarex replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I’d imagine Norwegian prisons are 5***** hotels compared to most countries As for this modular, as much as it’s intriguing and clearly has some interesting elements, I just can’t get past the police precinct/station theme. Seems particularly tone deaf from LEGO given events earlier this year. Don’t really have room for it anyway, what with incoming other sets (Mos Eisley Cantina, Ninjago City Gardens) already having reserved space. -

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Lucarex replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Both my kids and I genuinely forgot this theme even existed, never mind launched earlier this year and now on a second wave. Then again, that’s what happens when it’s blatantly designed for, and effectively exclusively marketed at a particular region. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lucarex replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Surely there’ll be no black box or 18+ moniker. This is Ninjago, a kids theme that’s run for a decade now. It’ll be 16+ like ‘City or if less complex 12+ like Docks. And there’ll be box art, as unlike the other recent D2C sets, it’s not a standalone but the third part of a modular series and so calls for a background that highlights that. -
There is no Landmark theme, all the buildings you’re referring to are an unofficial series under Architecture. If LEGO hadn’t been obsessed with this “largest set ever” nonsense, what you’re asking for is exactly where the Colosseum would have sat nicely. On a shelf, in thousands more AFOLs homes. I’m not that disappointed in a way as for me, a longtime fan since the first sets, the Architecture theme has delivered an ever-decreasing return in appeal and enjoyment. Skyline choices like Las Vegas and Dubai have turned the concept into modern day snowglobes, chosen for their “tourist appeal” and little else. I’d argue he probably got bored of the theme too, but then anyone buying the Colosseum will need to fully embrace the concept of boredom. Bag after bag, tan brick after tan brick. In the year of lockdowns during a viral pandemic, it seems very appropriate. The price, less so.

Which is fine if you’re discussing stuff that’s already out etc. But for sets that are not arriving until after the new year...well that’s why the 2021 threads go up a few months before not just in January. Makes it easier to follow for everyone.

LEGO Ninjago 2021

Obligatory blurry Golden Wu minifig pic has leaked. Not long now ladies and gents... Never understood the market for clone D2C sets. Why pay 150 for a knock off with inferior quality and negligible resale value when the real thing is 250? -
You are breaking the first rule of Eurobricks. No pics or even links to leaks. Frowned upon. Also, any chance you guys (literally both of you ) can keep discussion on 2021 sets in the appropriate thread not the dying embers of the 2020 thread.

LEGO Ninjago 2021

Ah I was just playing devils advocate. Agree it wouldn’t be all 3 golden figs in there but I can see Nya sneaking into the 19, just a gut feeling. I suppose it’s as likely as another set or two that hasn’t even been rumoured at when all the others have leaked already. -
The more I look at it, the less I like. That front end for example. Look I know a LEGO Technic designer has severe limitations that Manzoni didn’t, but it’s not even a decent pastiche IMO. Looking around the headlights (trying again to ignore the blue air intakes) it’s painful to see that curved mischievous grin of the original now looks like it has suffered severe and sustained maxillofacial trauma courtesy of a crowbar wielded by a soon-to-be ex-wife who’s just checked your text messages. Sorry but the Sian leaves this in the dust. Such a shame.

My first thought...after squinting and clawing at my eyes... was “well that’s one sticker sheet that’s going straight in the bin”. All those corporate logos just make one of the most beautiful current Ferraris look disgustingly cheap and tacky. And WTF is going on with that blue air dam above the front splitter? Eeeuw.

Botanical Collection - Rumours and Discussion
Lucarex replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hard to tell and it might be my sleep-deprived eyes playing tricks and brain doing some wishful thinking but is that two tone bark on the trunk? I hope so as it will add texture. The stand being in that same brown colour is the only disappointment but easy enough to mod with bricks and tiles in tan “wood” like the box banner illustration. The sakura cherry blossom that provides an alternative build is a really simple but lovely touch.- 137 replies

Promobricks now confirming that Golden Wu minifig will come with The Gardens ? -
Still waiting for an iconic work that actually appeals and makes me want to suffer the mosaic “build” experience. Iron Man was bad enough but Harry Potter house emblems? Seriously? It’s called “Art” theme. An opportunity they’ll swerve as it won’t maximise profit. It’s incredibly sad to see. Even the Architecture theme has gone full “tourist attraction” for the same reason.

PRESS RELEASE: 10276 – LEGO® Colosseum
Lucarex replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I’d say it’s more likely they’ll learn another lesson here. A painful commercial one. The huge Falcon sold like hot cakes because it’s an iconic vehicle from an insanely popular licensed theme. At this size and price, who exactly is this aimed at? The Colosseum should have always just been an Architecture set at less than a quarter the size and cost. -
PRESS RELEASE: 10276 – LEGO® Colosseum

If I was gifted this or won it say, I’d sell it on and save the time and space for something else. That GWP is pathetic and you do feel, scale or otherwise, TLG missed a trick not including a raft of gladiator minifigures. There’s not even an arena surface to utilise that possibility either, just the ruins. I’m not against the choice per se, but an “Architecture” model of the Colosseum at around €80, would have been a much better idea IMO. No other 2021 models in that theme to compete with either judging by the looks of it. -
Sadly I have to agree when you’ve argued it like that. Cars seem to be that way. Then again, clutching at straws, LEGO are into the whole retro (typewriter, globe, piano) vibe right now so who knows. Like you I’m not an expert on the details of the Type C (the occasional awareness whilst waiting at Audi service) but I happen to think it’s a really cool looking old race car that lends itself to being accurately recreated in brick form (unlike say the DB5). The largely monochromatic colour scheme is another plus.
