That doesn’t sound great. Did you not even get email confirmation of order? Have you checked order status logged into S@H? -

Just had email from LEGO saying “your order has shipped”. That was quick I thought, but then scrolled to see it was actually Spring Lantern Festival not Gardens. Anyone had their order progress beyond the “in warehouse” stage yet? -
I hear you, but I’ve accepted it’s just gonna be one of those minifigs (hopefully) that has no “use” but I’ll impulse buy anyway. An expensive version of the beekeeper if you like. Helps that I finally picked up Syrena (blue POTC mermaid) for a good price recently to lurk the waters around my Old Fishing Store MOC.

Have no idea or interest what this theme is about but really want to see that Ice Cream Mermaid!

Looks really good but why the hell didn’t he show the other side/rear of that combo. -

Unseen? Exactly, that pagoda is lot larger but still. Love that diving sub! -

It’s an interesting argument although I don’t completely agree. The whole feeling of Gardens is one of trying a bit too hard, probably due to the pressure of having to represent the anniversary and reference various things. The “unhinged” aspect to me actually suggests it went through less development than City (as depicted in the Making of TLNM book), and used the template of the original masterpiece a bit too closely. After all the designer admits it’s an evolution of City. I also think the Pagoda island is poorly executed as a modular side build and would have been far better incorporated on the rear of the main baseplate, with water surrounding, like the 17th at Sawgrass (non-golfers should google it). -

I think it’s fair to say City is easily a more accomplished set than Gardens taking everything into consideration, not just aesthetics. Put it this way, if they were both built in a Ninjago episode of Lego Masters, you just know Jamie (but maybe not Amy) would prefer City. It’s just more well thought out and integrated with multiple play features. However, that shouldn’t be used as a stick to beat Gardens with (Docks was bludgeoned to death by comparison), it’s still a great looking set, just that bar is set very very high. * Warning - soccer reference for US folks * Gardens is basically the LEGO equivalent of the Europa League, nice to look at if you get to the final and win, but you’d still much rather play in the Champions League every time. -

Well that’s massively disappointing. Wanted the 10 year timeline one. -

Ah I was being rhetorical but yes I’ll sell it on like I did my spare IDEAS vintage car. At least that was new, the ice rink is just surplus seasonal stock clearance. From a quick look, it’s fetching around 20-25 euro max, the higher prices were being realised well before Christmas. More of a comment about LEGO’s stinginess and lack of anniversary promo. At loose change from 300 notes for Gardens, you’d think they’d order a print run of those 10 year posters to include even if just for VIPs. Appears they had tech issues (again like on Jan 1st) with VIP release and checkout last night but was working earlier this morning. Says back order until 20th Jan so if it makes you feel any better, it’s likely only a couple of days’ delivery delay from those who completed orders today. -

Also, quite disappointed there’s no specific GWP for this flagship set. Even throwing that anniversary poster in would have been something. I mean, who really wants an ice rink mini build? -

So, the designer confirmed (4’26”) many comments when he referred specifically to the set as “a new evolution of Ninjago City”. Bought mine but unsure of keep/build plans for now. To be fair, it does look a wee bit wobbly, both on the upper level museum module and the tower spire. -

Beat me to it! And that was from the TLNM sets back in 2017. I’ve also lost count of the number of bricks with clips that have broken on me recently. It’s almost as if the quality is not up to being built more than once, an accusation long since aimed at LEGO’s fellow Scandinavians (and more recent collaborators) IKEA. -

Notice how they refer to Gardens being “the largest Ninjago set yet”. TLG’s recent size and piece count obsession is getting a bit irritating tbh, beginning with the Falcon and most recently the Colosseum, and as now rumoured the 11,000 pc DS2. Quality > quantity should always be the focus. -
Hype. Meh, 2018 called and wants its garish very briefly fashionable kids clothing brand back.

Or - infinitely more likely - there will be more “legacy Ninjago” modular building sets moving forward. They won’t rerelease NC or Docks, they’ve just used them to demonstrate the connection. -

You might want to reread the actual quote but never mind, I’m sure someone will post a pic next week. -

Oh I see that pic but it doesn’t show Gardens connected to City directly as the poster suggested. -

You can’t just convert and compare with US price as that doesn’t include the sales tax that almost all states add on to RRP (varies by state but typically around 7-8%). So US buyers will pay around $320. As for the UK price, there’s the fact the value/exchange rate of GBP to EUR (which LEGO uses as a proxy for DKK) is in the toilet thanks to Brexit. I don’t think £15 is a “hike” all things considered and face it, LEGO prices aren’t going down ever. And Gardens is still excellent value relatively speaking. If it helps, I’d wait for a sale somewhere like Smyths where I bought NC at about 30% off some 6 months after launch. -
