Nothing on the usual tags...?

Yes, it’s the same big shark used previously just recoloured (the hammerhead is just the small shark with a new headpiece and colour). And as pointed out, the big shark swallows a minifig, which is a great play feature. It’s definitely worth picking up outside of the overpriced set.

I’m confused now. There’s actually sets as well as blind minfig boxes?
-
Like the shark, ghost and wolf figs but no interest in theme itself. With blind boxes and high prices, can’t see me picking these up though tbh.
-
Where’s the ice cream mermaid? The tail part leaked and she appeared in the trailer, but missing off the series leaflet with 12 figs.

Go with the white option and be transported back to Ancient Egypt. I say that only for the sake of variety as PQ Scorpion Pyramid was tan on a raised tan baseplate.

And they’d be justifiable as a mosaic (yawn) would run directly contrary to the original concept, that of a 3D texture or bas relief.

Trans-Vader protoypes in 6 different colours
Lucarex replied to m4st3rt3ch's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I have the trans light blue “force ghost” Vader complete with hard cape and lightsaber (both also TLB). Can’t say where but not officially LEGO although similar high quality and way above clone POS parts. -
IIRC the orca was supposed to be in a large retailer exclusive set in that Arctic theme, but was then cancelled when that retailer (Toys R Us) went into administration. If it actually went into production back then (Arctic), you’d have thought they’d have held it back to include it in the recent NatGeo Ocean subtheme. Sure, we got a recoloured big GW shark and new stingray, hammerhead and anglerfish, but the elusive orca was still nowhere to be seen.

I’ve been somewhere between pure scorn and general apathy about Monkie Kid as a theme (and will remain so), but my god, that Fruit Flower Mountain set is fantastic. Sure, the price is going to sting badly, but this will be the first (and almost certainly last) MK set I’ll buy.

LEGO IDEAS - Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night
Lucarex replied to JintaiZ's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Puts the so-called mosaic Art and Sketches themes where they belong...the bargain bin. I really hope they do this justice and not stray too far from the submission’s execution and building techniques. -
Just to add to the Earheart GWP discussion, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the new/recent CMF series 21 had a girl wearing a red plane costume and a retro flying helmet and goggles.

Just shows you. I saw the black stand and thought, how dull and uninspired. Also would have preferred the infamous missing silver Electra rather than the more agricultural design of the Vega (aka Little Red Bus) in which she crossed the Atlantic.

This is the key argument right there. When TLG have blurred the lines with apps and AR for in-house themes like Next Knights and Hidden Side, it hasn’t really been a success. They seem obsessed with it. Back to this new theme, has the ice cream mermaid minifig or set been leaked yet?

Icons Landmark Buildings - Rumours and Discussion
Lucarex replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great idea. I’d like to see the complex of CC and the circular C1. Didn’t even occur to me though as I think tennis is still regarded as a more elitist/affluent sport rather than football/soccer which appeals to a much wider demographic.- 259 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lucarex replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
No brainer. Buy it. Worst case scenario you can flip it for a few extra hundred. Then either wait for Gardens (will be available for 6-12 months) or sell Diagon Alley (which from what I’ve read, isn’t all that) although I’m biased as zero interest in HP. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lucarex replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Good shout. One of the most underrated and best value sets from TLNM theme (overshadowed by all the Shark Army and Ninja vehicles). Still have it on display and yes, it’s corner perspective gives an awkward width which added to its height, make it almost impossible to relocate. -
Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
Lucarex replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Forgot to update but mine eventually arrived last Tuesday 19th. Box itself wasn’t in great condition, couple of creased dents and an actual tiny hole, despite the outer brown shipping box being perfect. TLG warehouse QC clearly isn’t up to scratch these days. -

I completely agree with the lots of unnecessary extra landscaping small parts to add “detail”, but on the other hand, keeping the footprint small is not a bad thing these days especially when shelf space is a major consideration. Of course, sets like Scorpion Palace were fantastic at adding scale using larger parts whilst keeping the piece count down, but this approach is rarely seen in today’s Lego designs unfortunately. -
I’d like to see an update to the classic octopus.

Maybe but there’s been 2 or 3 at least that made the 10k review stage including the Planet Express last year. If the rejections were due to a conflict in the works, I feel it would have been happened by now.
-
Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought that!

Saw this rumour repeated on IG. Seems a strange one as Central Perk was marked down on sale everywhere for the last few months and still lots of them shelfwarming in these parts along with a shedload of other licensed Friends “gifts”. Not surprising given the show isn’t one you’d normally associate with the interest of your typical AFOLs. If there’s another set in the works, I guess it can only be Monica’s apartment. Still grates that no Futurama set has made it through IDEAS, when we’ve had 2 large Simpsons sets and 2 CMF series.
