  1. Sadly I have to agree when you’ve argued it like that. Cars seem to be that way. Then again, clutching at straws, LEGO are into the whole retro (typewriter, globe, piano) vibe right now so who knows. Like you I’m not an expert on the details of the Type C (the occasional awareness whilst waiting at Audi service) but I happen to think it’s a really cool looking old race car that lends itself to being accurately recreated in brick form (unlike say the DB5). The largely monochromatic colour scheme is another plus.
  2. I have exactly the same gut response. It just leaves me cold, complete indifference. Looks like it’ll be a borefest to build also. Then again, I suppose that just mirrors my opinion of the real life “tourist attraction”. Alternatively, I’d have loved to have seen a Creator Expert/18+ size Fontana di Trevi, as the small Architecture set remains one of my favourites.
  3. Why does it make it less likely if there is already an established relationship? The theme’s rules if you can call them that, are by TLG’s own admission, constantly evolving so I don’t think you can look at the past for future predictions. Also this is vintage AU and technically not Audi. The Caterham was hardly an iconic or beautiful car, and from what I’ve heard sold poorly even for an IDEAS set so that may explain the reluctance to approve niche cars. But then we’ve since seen iconic non-IDEAS sets like the VW bus, Routemaster, DB5, Fiat 500, so it’s not that unlikely IMO especially as can’t imagine LEGO already have a Auto Union Type C on the drawing board. As for the E-Type, hard to do it justice in brick form, but regardless I’d much prefer to see a 300SL Gullwing if we’re going down that route.
  4. Given the Audi license in Speed Champions, this must be a dead cert to pass review.
  5. Ever tried keeping a real bonsai healthy and thriving? It’s far from easy ? Instant buy for me Jan 1st.
  6. Not to mention the Armourer, another key figure that’s notable by her absence.
  7. Honestly, as excited about this set as I am, this time I’m happy not to engage with the speculation and just be patient for the first proper image leak. Otherwise, madness this way lies.
  8. Hands down favourite of all the recent “building/architecture” 10k projects (alas RIP Krusty Krab). Will this go up into the next review round, alongside the Night at the Museum submission?
  9. Under 3 figures would have been much better, like last year if I’m not mistaken. Think the Lion Dance was 85? It’s not too painful a hike but still, the upwards pricing trend isn’t going to reverse anytime soon.
  10. As much as I appreciate the concept, choice of any historical site, and texture techniques, I can’t help but instinctively yawn ? at the eye-clawing boredom I anticipate in actually building this ancient arena of bloodlust. Assuming I’d even drop 500 notes on it when there’s so many other sets way ahead of it in my mind’s (and wallet’s) queue.
  11. Exactly my thoughts. Really impatient to see behind that silhouette image of GoNC. The overall aesthetic and details in the Spring Lantern garden are exquisite though. Check out the trans light blue water tiles with printed (?) or stickered koi.
  12. Thanks, confirms what I thought as I had vague recollection I’d seen others listed previously just wasn’t sure of timeline. Given this is also VIP-branded, I hope it will be available from 1st.
  13. Join the queue! Does anyone know if the GWPs are made available separately on the VIP portal to order separately using reward points? I’m struggling to hit that 100 price point to qualify. The only set I currently want is the Cantina but I have neither space or budget. I guess there’s always Vader’s Castle but the build looks poor value.
  14. Ok thanks. But it’s listed as a small €50 Creator Expert set so if that rumour is true, the gorgeous Bonsai Ideas set that has just made review, will have already been privately rejected. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/ca8eed3e-61d3-4e2e-8978-6a71fc273356
  15. Not seeing it anywhere in their homepage news.
  16. Where did you read that? I seem to remember it’s in the next review round that is not even due for a decision until Jan 2021.
  17. It’s simple really, they COULD have made boss ghosts etc but they chose not to. I think they used the app to justify what was clearly a budget decision. Which is fine until you see the massive budget they splurged on a new theme that is pretty much targeted at just one specific region.
  18. Or, it’s just taking a hiatus which is much more likely.
  19. A great technical explanation that I just about followed! Regardless, it’s still amounts to misrepresentation IMO. I took the “glassy” appearance as seen since the first hi res box art was revealed earlier this year, especially as it’s a one-off colour for that piece not found in any other set. Does this mean the Nehar-Reem (spelling?) character in the Castle with the new ghost piece legs is also affected? The blue parts of that also looks trans not opaque in both the set renders and those promo images of kids playing with the app/set.
  20. Great idea but sadly any playability is just wishful thinking. What easier a way to recreate a ancient ruin than literally using a pile of (for the most part, identical) bricks?
  21. Hmmm are you 100% sure? I don’t recall such a big visual difference between official images and parts in hand. Don’t forget HS has form for production errors, there was the whole spring green gloom parts issue with the Subway set, some got the elements in a different colour (neon I think?) green.
  22. Seems like we have another production inconsistency/error. The Dragster shadow-Walker minifig on the box (and in all promo pics) clearly shows trans light blue wings, but the piece in my opened set is noticeable opaque and different. Anyone receive the clear piece?
  23. Thanks. Quite the precedent for IDEAS and not in a good way. Both sets were available for a relatively long period within the last 2-3 years so I’m not buying “popular demand”. Can’t help but feel that’s also a bit of a kick in the nuts to all the fantastic and worthy projects summarily rejected and takes up production time that could be more creatively used elsewhere.
  24. Errr think you misread. I didn’t say the sets were awful, just the Gru minifig. Should have budgeted for a moulded head no question about it.
