  1. Why not another steamer? The Constitution Train Chase looks very good when modified according to Zephyer1934's instructions... See them at Railbricks instructions portal: http://railbricks.com/instructions/ Or maybe another UK steamer like this Scotnick model (revised and built IRL by me): What do you think? (i'm not trying to blow my own whistle, i just thought you might like this model...)
  2. Thanks for the comment, I was beginning to think no one was reading this thread at all! I had a couple Dino island sets, such as the T-Rex Transport (5975) and my dad had the Expedition Balloon (5956). I also and a bunch of the smaller Orient Expedition sets too... I later recieved Bi-Wing Baron for Christmas 2012, which is what jump-started all my thoughts on a revamped Johnny Thunder theme. I just had to wait until the money and LDD caught up with my ideas! Maybe since Johnny Thunder is in The LEGO Movie Super Secret Police drop-ship set we'll have a new theme and place to explore? I mean, they don't make the hat mold active again for no reason, right?
  3. Johnny thunder office (Version 2 revisited) LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1435957394m.lxf Topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92994&st=0
  4. This building was inspired by set Modular Building set numbers 10246: Detective Office, and was originally designed in March 2015. It was replaced by a revamped version of the first model, and now I have taken a long, hard look and decided it was too simplistic looking for my tastes... so I went back to my model lists and came back to this version of Johnny thunder's office you see now. Unlike most of my buildings, the levels of this building lift off like a modular, instead of swinging open like a dollhouse. The rear of the building lacks a back door. The bottom floor holds the actual office with a desk + chairs, an artifact display case and three large filing cabinets full of important contact information about previous adventurers, new friends and old enemies. The top floor is his living quarters, with a bed, table, stove, and telephone. This car is Johnny's Treasure Raider and was built in 1924 to help keep Johnny mobile in high risk situations, such as being shot at by Lord Sam Sinister. It is also included in the building's LDD file. LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1435957394m.lxf
  5. Here are those Morrow II pictures I promised you guys: Here we see the Morrow II at sea.... actually, it's balanced on top of my railroad shed. (Close enough!) The top floor of the ship is the bridge - this area contains a nautical telegraph (to control speed) and the wheel. (to control direction) The lower floor features the boiler room. It is empty right now, but could be re-purposed into a captain's cabin. Here is Captain Karloff himself. Updated LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1435860580m.lxf
  6. Thanks! I have run into a snag with the battle cruiser HMS Vladeck,: I can't buy it until next month (August), as I over-spent on Lego in June and threw my entire July budget out of whack. Oh well, you live and you learn! By the way: Real world pictures of Sam Sinister's new car and the freighter Morrow II (I need a better name for my tramp steamer!) should be taken soon. I'm waiting on some car parts to ship, but they should be here in about a week.
  7. If we are comparing methods of modifying the basic model, here is my version, based off Zephyer1934's method with a Tony Sava-inspired tender attached. LDD file for those who are interested: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1433889432m.lxf As for running: no aftermarket parts or cutting required. She is one of my best engines, and hasn't had a problem with any official track from either the 9V / RC era, or 12V / 4.5. era. It is possible to motorize the engine with a 9V motor by replacing the two tender bogies with the motor fixed in place and two pony trucks on either side. Power Function would require a car loaded with battery box / receiver, and the motor being part of the tender / being pushed by said battery car with motor being installed there. I hope this helps: I'll put together an LDD file if anyone wants a motorized version as described above.
  8. You can always replace them, I believe the rods in question can be replaced with the proper length of Technic liftarms. Just look in the back of his instructions for details.
  9. I have now added the real life pictures of the Victorian train station, the Mogul with the Emerald Express, the Mikado with the Meramec River Runner, and the XL engine shed. Here we see the front of the shed with the Mikado and Mogul peeking out of the front doors. Their were doors for the shed, but I removed them as they didn't look right and kept falling off. (Sorry for the blurry photo: I used my phone to take these pictures and my hands shake. Usually i have something to rest them on, but not this time.)
  10. HMS Vladeck - 1920's Adventurers Battle-cruiser LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1435515155m.lxf Topic: http://www.eurobrick...pic=92994&st=25
  11. Here is my newest vessel for Lord Sam Sinister and the forces of evil: Fictional background: Built in 1919 by Fuller Co. Shipyards as the HMS Vladeck, this battle-cruiser was constructed as a gift for Lord Sam Sinister by the country of Ogel. It features four turrets, each with three barrels. The ship is powered by two turbines connected to steam engines fed by oil. The vessel also features twin smokestacks, two propellers, a command bridge and a meeting room with two map tables where Sam Sinister can plot in secret. The real story: In reality, I was so impressed with the size and shape of my tramp steamer model that I decided to test my ship-building skills with a battle-cruiser. I used the basic shape and hull of my other big military ship (the one that's scaled with my passenger liner) and added new turrets, removable decks, and a mini figure-compatible command bridge. I'll admit, I'm having problems with the turrets (something still seems off to me) but every brick has been checked and is build-able in real life. The vessel features two funnels and space in the lower level for the war room, complete with two map tables. The upper floor features the wheel and two nautical telegraphs, one for each engine. The flagpole on the rear should feature this plastic piece: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=56410 (Also, the big empty space near the rear by the funnels is for figure storage. I'm using The Lone Ranger Calvary figures (classic smiley faces instead of peach heads) for troops, with the commander wearing the Captain J. Fuller uniform with this hat: http://www.bricklink...asp?P=11259pb01 .) Ship Name: HMS Vladeck Engine Type: steam-fed turbine to double screws Vehicle Configuration: battle cruiser Vehicle type: ocean going military vessel Designer: Baron Victor Fuller Build Date: 1919 Builder: Fuller Co. Shipyards Current Owner: Lord Sam Sinister Length: 96 studs Width: 12 studs Height: 20 bricks The turrets can swivel left to right and the gun barrels can elevate (slightly) LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1435515155m.lxf
  12. Thanks for the comment. The moderators might not like new posts in a year-old-plus topic. (but that's their business, not mine) Anyway, I have recentley created a newer topic with more LDD models inside. See here: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=101622 Thanks again.
  13. Okay, the red XL shed doesn't fit anymore (no more room on the table!), so Iv'e devised an updated version of an older model to fit my two steamers. This shed was first built around 2005 by my father as a present to me. It was originally a single stall, three tracks long, with no side workshop... That is, until I was about to order parts to increase it's length to four tracks. I suddenly decided that while I was at it, it should probably have a removable roof. It kinda snowballed from there into this design seen here. I added a workshop (with it's own removable roof) to the left side of the model. I then took the main section's roof off and made it detachable. Later on, I added another track to fit my 2-8-2, but the engine couldn't squeeze inside at first. I extended the facility 8 studs forward to make it fit, but their is a problem: a base-plate is going to be CUT to make a 32 x 6 stud slit for the overhanging shed entrance. (Don't worry: the base-plate has been butchered already when my father extended his shed to two tracks.) The inside will be taken up by my dark green 2-6-0 "Mogul"-type steam locomotive number 4613, and dark bluish gray 2-8-2 "Mikado" type steam engine number 5916. NOTE: The locomotives are NOT included in the LDD file. The workshop is supposed to feature tools from set 10027: (2003's Train Shed) a metal lathe, drill press and tool drawers, plus a coffee machine. (The reason they are missing is they just haven't been constructed yet.) Here is the rear of the shed. The building sits on a XL 48 x 48 stud base-plate, a 1/2 Large 32 x 16 plate and the custom 32 x 6 cut-out I talked about earlier. The model features two removable sections (that's the workshop roof and engine shed roof) for access to the interior of the building. I have already put the base-plates down, and I just need to eventually purchase $243 (US) worth of bricks. LDD file - no locomotives: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1435261536m.lxf What do you think? I was going for a industrial / down-town look when me and my dad made it way back when... does it look that way to you?
  14. I was wondering the same thing. The Railbricks forum is full of spam (and spammers) and the blog hasn't been updated since January, also the model / instructions index haven't been touched since 2013. Makes me wonder what happened to such promising idea: I've been reading since issue 2.
  15. Thank you: I hope you enjoy the VW: it's still sitting on my desk as we speak.
  16. I second the idea for 1920's CITY: it would fit in perfectly with the Adventurers stuff I have built / official sets, since the time of the Egypt theme is officially set in 1922 according to the Scooby Doo museum set's Johnny Thunder sticker.
  17. Bob's 1970's Nexus force - themed car LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1430493388m.lxf Topic: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=101622
  18. Sorry for the bump, but here are some more vehicles: Bob's 1970's Nexus force - themed car Since the last time I showed off this car, I relocated the rear-view mirrors, raised the front by a plate, and added this piece to the rear: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=15068pb004 Here is the rear of the car. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1430493388m.lxf Benny's 1950's Classic Space - themed automobile I was inspired to build this model after seeing the dark red half-track / truck in set 60071, Hovercraft Arrest. The model looked easy to duplicate, but it proved difficult to create an exact copy. I then decided to take it in a another direction and create a generic American 1950's car, which eventually got turned into this version of Benny's Classic Space themed automobile. The model features a row of space-ship styled seats and "double" tail lights. (I used a trans-red grille to create a nice effect.) the white tile above the rear bumper is supposed to be Benny's license plate. This part goes on the sloped rear of the car: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=30363pb021 LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1434990478m.lxf 1930's streamlined car This model was inspired by the recent announcement of the Super Man "Action Comics Number 1" exclusive 2015 LEGO set. I eyeballed the model and faithfully recreated it, but it was severely lacking in several areas so I enhanced it by extending the frame about two studs, and added bigger wheels. I then redid the bumper and passenger cabin, which required a new 4 x 8 roof, which is longer than the original 4 x 6 piece. The rear features two tail-lights and a license plate. It can also seat one mini-figure in the drivers seat. NOTE: The rear of the model actually features a 2 x 2 trans clear slope instead of the two 1 x 2 slopes seen here. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1435074997m.lxf
  19. I mean the strips of blank white around the actual model in the picture: they take up a ton of screen space. you can edit them out by using Microsoft paint by selecting the picture and re-sizing the boundaries on the edge of the picture. if you don't have Microsoft windows, then you may have to ask others for help: I only use windows and don't have a clue about other operating systems / programs. Keep up the good work!
  20. I think it looks nice! it's a really great start to a train that was really under-designed by LEGO. (by that I mean we never got a D2C or UCS set with working pistons, numerous coaches) Anyway, if anyone is wondering, here is what his model looks like if you don't want to follow the link: As a side note: I would suggest trimming off the white parts of the model and centering it the frame, like I did with my Hogwarts Express model: Hope this helps! EDIT: I just noticed your model does not feature a sliding middle axle on the tender. You need the middle axle to slide to get the car to go around Lego curves. Other that that, your model is awesome!
  21. ...another build bites the (space) dust: Benny's Classic Space Townhouse LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1434991153m.lxf Topic: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=106510
  22. Here we see Benny with the latest house for him: the classic (space) townhouse. This building was originally the Brick City Depot 'Winter Village - Victorian House" model before I added a back half with stairs, new roof, removed the snow, reworked the front brickwork into actual brick-bricks and about a half dozen other things. Here is a link to the original model so you can comapre the differences: https://www.brickcit...victorian_house The inside of the house features a bed, desktop computer, lamp on table, telephone, stove, Benny's SPACESHIP! micro-model and a couch. The attic is empty... for now. Like most of my model, the house opens on a hinge and locks shut on a Technic pin. The car, mini-figure, and house are included in this LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1434991153m.lxf You may be wondering why Benny is living in a Victorian townhouse. Here is the answer: Built as a Victorian townhouse, this two story home was completed the same week Halley's Comet passed by Earth in 1910. The building quickly became known as the Comet House, and was purchased from the original owners' family by Benny the 1980-something space guy in 1984.
  23. 24. Just a tiny update: The space base's LDD file and pictures were updated today to include a second floor for the control tower plus two staircases to the wall-top walkways from the ground floor. There is also access to the top floor of the tower from the second floor of the control room. All the modules lock together / come apart at the Technic pins, and they are now grouped as such/ I was inspired to build this model after seeing the dark red half-track / truck in set 60071, Hovercraft Arrest. The model looked easy to duplicate, but it proved difficult to create an exact copy. I then decided to take it in a another direction and create a generic American 1950's car, which eventually got turned into this version of Benny's Classic Space themed automobile.
