  1. Jack and Kate, having escaped from imprisonment by the Lotii on El Oleonda, were finally out of the war zone. They had captured a small assortment of junks after their escape and had sold them off to Carno, and they had also captured and let go a small native trading vessel. Jack was anxious to lead a squadron of “proper” ships, but the assortment of captured brigs and barks they had liberated from the Lotii docks were not of the best quality. Only his flagship, the man-o-war Blackjack, was truly battle worthy. And so, anchored in Freeport harbor, Jack sat at his desk in his flagship’s cabin when Kate walked in. “What you writin’ there, Jack?” “Did you read about Admiral DeKruger’s exploits in the latest Kings Port Advertiser, my dear Kate?” “Yeah, what abou’ it?” “Why, she led the Sea Rats’ Hand of Fate fleet on quite a series of engagements, securing — among others — the Eslandian man-of-war El Genio.” “And why does that matter to us?” “Well, we need to add another ship to our squadron after losing the Lucky Strike in that storm.” “We wuz lucky to save most of ’er crew.” “Indeed we were. And El Genio would be a marvelous replacement ship!” “Sure. Bigger than that ol’ brig, an’ I’d bet more seaworthy. We’d need to recruit more crew for ’er, though. But I still don’t see why yer focusin’ on one partic’lar ship.” “It’s been in the service of the Eslandian armada from day one, well maintained, not like most of our ships,” explained Jack. Kate grunted in agreement. “What’s more," Jack continued, "she was laid down in the same shipyard as this ship. They’re of the same design. They’re essentially sister ships. (Not in the BoBS sense of the phrase. Just two ships of similar design.) It would be tremendous to have another ship the equal of Blackjack!” “Okay. But that don’t answer my question, Jack: what ar' you doin’ with parchment and quill?” “I am writing a letter to Admiral DeKruger, to congratulate her on her recent success! And ... to find out if she would be willing to sell us El Genio.” “Good luck with that, Jack. She could put that ship to good use ’erself.” “Yes, she could, but I hope to appeal to her anti-establishment instincts, that she would be helping a fellow pirate disrupt the best-laid plans of the continental powers.” Jack spent some time composing his letter... Finally, Jack signed it with a flourish. “There! I think that will do it.” “What you doin’ with that coin?” “I am including a 5db gold piece as an offering of good faith, and as a show of respect.” “And now yer just gonna mail a letter to 'er at 'er secret hideout?” “No, at least not by normal means. But I know some men over in Barracuda Bay who should be able to get this to her.” Jack paused. “And while we’re there, we can see about recruiting some new crew, as well.” Kate smiled at that. “Now yer thinking straight!” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A little story and vignette to illustrate my purchase of El Genio. @Kwatchi, I hope this meets with your approval. All C&C welcome.
  2. Previously: Jack hatches a plan With Jack's plan finalized, he and Kate passed the word to other prisoners. The Lotii guards had become complacent watching over their Halosian prisoners for so long, and the number used to guard them and their diligence in their duty had waned. When an opportunity finally presented itself, the prisoners overwhelmed their guards, secured the keys to release their incarcerated brethren, and acquired whatever makeshift weapons they could. Some were able to get their hands on swords and knives, but others had to settle for pick axes and hand axes from their work site, and even a meat cleaver from a Lotii cook. Once free of their shackles and armed, the prisoners made their way through the jungle toward the harbor. Jack and Kate had assembled a group of enough able-bodied seamen to commandeer at least five ships, and there were no guards to speak of around them. Jack had his eye on a man-o-war, and there were several brigantines or similar ships docked adjacent to it. And the ships didn’t appear to have been stripped of essential materiel. Could he be so lucky? --- I would have liked to have time to MOC the overpowering of the guards, but real life interceded. This build at least gave me a chance to experiment with some different foliage than my usual builds. And this serves as a sistership build, replacing the Wolf (and subsequent sisterships Wolf II and Fenris Ranger) with its newest sistership El Lobo. All C&C welcome.
  3. Since July of 620, Jack and Kate have been the prisoners of the Lotii on the island of El Oleonda, initially forced to work in a textile mill in Oryant. They briefly escaped in April of 621 and stole a small junk, but were quickly recaptured. Since then they have been put to hard labor in Luyang. But nearly 20 months of captivity have not dimmed Jack’s hopes. “I swear they gave us this view of the harbour to torture us,” lamented Jack. “I don’t think they’ve giv’n us that much thought, Luv,” replied Kate. Jack was strangely silent in response. Something had caught his eye. “What is it, luv?” queried Kate. “I can see the Nightwing!” “Our ship? Maybe they are trying to torture us!” exclaimed Kate. “Yes, our Nightwing. They’ve captured a fair number of Halosian ships. We know that from all our fellow prisoners.” The wheels were turning in Jack’s head. “And they don’t appear to have merged many of the Halosian ships with their own patrols. They must not like working with what they consider to be strange rigging. But I can see several brigs, and even a man-o-war down there, that they never sail out.” “What of it?” sighed Kate. “We have the men to sail them!” declared Jack. “If we can pass the word among the prisoners and effect an escape, instead of trying to sail away on a small junk, we could sail out of here with a war fleet under our command. We’d have more than a fighting chance to get out of here for good!” Kate perked up. “Just get me a blade and I’ll cut us a path through the guards to those ships.” The wheels in Jack's head continued to turn. “Hmmm, yes dear, I’m working on that…” To be continued. --- Making another attempt this MRCA to get Jack and Kate out of captivity, and using this as the required build to sistership the Nightwing. All C&C welcome.
  4. The final confrontation in the mission "Jack of the Lantern" from the video game Secret World Legends's Blue Mountain setting, re-imagined as a (virtual) LEGO set, featuring custom decals for Jack the Lad, the Scarecrows, and my Illuminati player character the Blue Bee. Not strictly speaking sci-fi, but there's no, say, Horror, Urban Fantasy, or Video Games theme, and Sci-Fi fit better than any of the other options. No other camera angles on this one. I don't want anyone to see that I couldn't be bothered to build the rest of the house.

  6. (it is a typical Fall evening in Newbury, USA. - misty and chilly. Our main Hidden Side protagonists, Jack, Parker, and Spencer the ghost dog have tracked a large well of ghost energy to the graveyard on the far side of town. Mr. Branson, the cemetery caretaker, has arranged to open the gates for them while they search for ghosts after being convinced of their reality.) Mr. Branson opens the heavy iron gate, letting Parker and Jack inside, their ghost-hunting phones fully charged. Parker, who is usually optimistic, suddenly blurts out: "I've got a funny feeling about this, we should've brought Professor J.B. as backup." Jack says in reply: "Come on, Parker, what so bad about a grave yard? We've fought math tests harder than this. Besides: J.B. is helping out with the cleanup at school from our last adventure with these ghost hunting apps. The group heads on inside the cemetery.... About five minutes into scanning the grounds, Jack does a double take and calls Parker over. "I swear that statue just moved!" Jack proclaims." Impossible", says Parker, it's not showing up on the ghost app. "You are probably just tired from all your ghost fighting." Mr. Branson insists, but Jack wasn't so sure... Suddenly, a ghost appears on the app's scanners: "We got one!" says Parker, as she starts to fight with spirit. Wailing and moaning, the lost soul suddenly screams loudly "Leave while you still can!" Jack joins in the fight, sending the spirit tumbling through the air, smaller and smaller.... The ghost becomes a spirit orb, ready to be picked up by J.B. with her specialist gloves at a later time. But, just then, Mr. Branson approaches the orb, swings his lantern and shatters it, freeing the ghost. "Why did you do that for!?" Jack and Parker shout in unison. Mr. Branson snaps his fingers and the gates to the grounds slam shut. "They need to feed on something.... after all, I do have a deal to bring them food." Mr. Branson continues, "and your the latest meal." Jack shouts "The gates are locked and electrified! We're trapped!" Parker then notices the statues slowly waking up. "Uh, Jack, we got bigger problems. About the statues you mentioned, they are definitely alive!"... Jack and Parker begin to back up slowly to the rear of the the graveyard, always keeping an eye to the statues, as it strangely makes them stop moving. What they don't notice is one of the statues right behind them, that is until it is crushed to atoms by certain blue police box falling from the sky. Everyone is stunned for a second, especially Jack and Parker. Then, out of the box steps a ginger haired woman. She says to the two ghost hunters an iconic line for the ages: "At last! A ginger!" Getting her bearings, the ginger haired woman tells the two teenagers to get behind her: She will take care of the "Weeping Angel" and it's caretaker. Jack then finds it's probably a good time to ask Spencer to go find J.B. to get her involved, as any backup (and the Newbury police would be welcome at this point) The ginger haired lady then takes pair's phone's and fries them, mumbling something about the "graven image". She does this while asking them to take refuge inside her "TARDIS". "What's that? The blue box? It can't possibly fit us all!" shrieks Parker as Jack shoves her in. (Jack probably realized that logic went out the window a while ago.) The ginger haired lady follows them in, pulls a single switch on a dark console in a pitch-black room, and the box dissolves from Branson's view in a groaning, wheezing, sort of way. Now alone with the remaining Weeping Angel in the graveyard, and with police sirens getting nearer, Mr. Branson is considering his fate. He has failed to get food for his masters, and even destroyed one of them. He awaits his fate with dignity and closes his eyes as the end comes swiftly.... (SNAP) What will happen to Jack and Parker and the ginger haired woman? Will Spencer manage to get the message to J.B. about where Jack and Parker are? And what will happen to all of those ghosts' data stored on those fried phones? Only time will tell!
  7. Hi Eurobricks and swashbucklers. I haven't posted much of my own making in recent years, simply because well.. let's just say I'm a bit lazy. Sorry! Back in 2015-2016 when I was 15 -16 years old (I know, easy to remember) I started messing around a bit with a custom built ship and No. 6721 "Imperial Flagship" (which was one of the last second hand set I bought). It was also at that time I discovered the Aubrey-Maturin novels, and began devouring them in a way you don't expect from someone my age. I also found out a movie adaption was made, containing various elements from the novels. I watched it, and again, and again, and I became a bit obsessed with the story and historical accuracy. And I was (and still am) a lego fan. So 1+1 is 2, ey? I grabbed a green robe and tried recreating a scene! Thanks to a friend who helped me with final cut pro and my mother for sewing the sails, I am very glad I can present to you a movie I should've released three years ago! Here's something I had much fun working on, with vague images, laughable special effects and the occasional video thrown in. Please enjoy. I hope I inspire someone to make a perfect version of this. Kind regards, Captain Edward, or on youtube: Jiskpirate P.S. Be sure to check out my older animations on my channel, with some being reasonably successful, although not too good. For me, my channel is one big plaza of nostalgia.
  8. Previously on 24 Mafia... Jack pulled Officer Lewis into the interrogation room for some "questioning." "Where's the bomb? WHERE'S THE BOMB?" Jack asked quietly and then demanded in a loud voice. "What bomb?" asked the security guard. "Isn't it just moles?" "Damn it, we're running OUT OF TIME!" The lead CTU agent slammed his fists on the stainless steel table. "There's no cameras in here, I removed them against protocol, so I can do what I want. So tell me what you know." Barry received an IM that somebody wanted to meet him in the armory. So he went. What could go wrong? A lot. A lot could go wrong... and did. "Oh it's you." The analyst began to feel very uncomfortable. "Oh come on," the figure said. "It's not going to be that bad." THWACK! Poor Barry's skull was bashed in (can they show that blood on network tv?) At the top of the hour, Jack called people into the bullpen. "Well we've got good news and bad news." Everyone waited for Jack to continue. "The good news is, I still have my interrogation skills. The bad news is both Barry and Officer Lewis were CTU. This can't happen. How are we supposed to protect the country when there are moles in CTU? Did I mention I also had an affair with one?" 9. Previously on 24 Mafia... Officer Skinner was having a nice cup o'joe around 10:30am when she was confronted... "Well that's a nice hammer you have there. I can barely see you against these walls. We really should repaint," she said. "Oh be quiet. You're in my way," the figure said before bashing Skinner's head in. Jack heard the noise and rushed upstairs to the scene. By 11am, they had found that Skinner was loyal CTU. "Chloe, did we get that on the security cam?" Jack shouted. "The moles have taken down all cameras. We can't see anything." There was a pause. "You know you can just come down here and talk since we're in the same building, no need for an earpiece?" "Sunnovabich," he muttered. Jack then went and addressed the group. "So as you know, Skinner was one of us. We need to find out who the moles are. WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME! I don't care how it's interpreted from the outside. I just gave you an order and I'd like you to follow it." 10. *Clock ticking* The following takes place between the beginning of sign ups and the end of it. Events occur in real time. Some moles have infiltrated CTU, The Counter Terrorist Unit headed up by Jack Bauer, the man who famously does not eat or use the restroom as he solves world problems in a single day. He needs help finding the moles who would do the world harm. Are you up to the task? Or are you one of the moles? 1) Have you ever played Mafia before, and what's your experience? If not, have you read some of the games we've had on here? 2) Can you commit to the game timewise? 3) Do you talk in a quiet voice and then shout really loud, repeating what you just asked? The sign-up thread will run until we hit the bare minimum at least. I'm hoping for 15 but this can be done with a bit less. For your convenience, the rules (modified and stolen from Kintobor, who in turn stole from def) have been attached below, so everyone knows what they're getting into. The Rules 1.
