[MOC] Sunshine Cafe. alternate build for the LEGO 31079
ExeSandbox replied to CoolerTD's topic in LEGO Town
Amazing! Converting a vehicle into a building is quite impressive. The detailing and color separation is pretty good as well. -
Saturn V Launch Pad with Umbilical Tower
ExeSandbox replied to teflon's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Mind boggling impressive! I'm sure this looks incredibly awesome in real life considering how big the Saturn V is already. -
Wow, the way you've built that circular water is perfect! It looks like it has tiny waves and ripples going through it. The frog is simple, but very nicely sculpted!

I saw an image of a container house somewhere and I thought "Hey, I should build that in LEGO..." Fast forward a year and I finally got to making it. It also gave me the opportunity to play around with some angles with both the containers and decor elements. (I didn't place the stuffs on a single stud and just rotate it (except for the tiles leading to the door, but each of them is still connected to a stud). I relied on the probability of stud connections for a certain angle, for solidity. Not cheating ) Also thought it would be cool to differentiate the wall texture on each of the containers. The back panels of the containers can be hinged open to reveal the inside, which is also fully detailed (and totally clean too..., somehow I can't build dirty houses). Aside from that, there are many details to spot for. More images can be seen at my Flickr page

!!! Love every single part of the Hamburger Stand. That roof is pure eye candy. Also, those brick shaped bricks used for the base. *AAAAAHHHH*

Incredible shaping!! All the clever parts usage really adds so much to the ship.

Why is Constraction So Disrespected?
ExeSandbox replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I would say it's 50/50. There are those who really don't like constraction, and there are those who absolutely adore it. I started LEGO with constraction sets, and I have so much respect for them. Hero Factory and Bionicle set reviews, from my observation, is one of the most viewed categories of LEGO set reviews, some even reaching 1mil+ views. The Bionicle contest, hosted back in 2016 is still the biggest online contest ever. I believe Bionicle and Hero Factory have been very well received by the majority (mostly kids, not that it's a bad thing, because when they eventually grow up, their fond memories with those sets would make them respect those themes), I suppose because there are plenty of LEGO Brick purists around places like forums and blogs which is why their opinions are heard more often. -
Yeah, it's the exact same for me. My creator 3in1 interest started from the Corner Deli, from then on I got all the other "shop styled" buildings (including Park Street Townhouse), and bluntly speaking the 31097 just doesn't hold up to those ones. Perhaps seeing it in person would change my mind...

[MOC] Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 1973
ExeSandbox replied to ZetoVince's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Superb models! The shape is captured perfectly. I really like how you built the door hinges, it's realistic to how car doors move in real life. With that amount of polish and detail, I'm surprised it's built with just 779 pieces! Awesome job! -
[MOC] BRICKS & BLOOMS - Modular Garden Centre
ExeSandbox replied to Bricked1980's topic in LEGO Town
Been looking at your Modular creations for some time and I finally have to leave a reply. The Bricks and Blooms does look really nice, it has a fairly unique footprint and nice detailing throughout. Really love that side building, especially with the second level, the use of parts there is just . The design of the main building still feels pretty cluttered though, (even though you already tried to make it cleaner ). The use of parts and colors (in my humble opinion) isn't really the best. The white colors are too jarring (but maybe that's just the render, white in real life is yellowish and slightly muted), the Earth Blue awnings in front of the Dark Green is a weird choice. Some details just feels like they are there for the sake of adding details rather than adding something substantial to the build. The colors, details and design should flow together in a cohesive manner for a aesthetically pleasing Modular Building, which is why I personally think that's where the Downtown Diner and the Corner Garage succeeds in. But then again, I would also say that your way of designing Modular Buildings makes it very unique, with your odd color and design choices. Without seeing your name I can pretty much tell which Modular Building is designed by you. Welp, that's my two cents. Keep up the awesome work! (Darn, those images where you displayed all your Modular Buildings side by side really makes you forget about their flaws. It's absolutely stunning!) -
Happy Hourglass

Totally speechless. The Happy Hourglass is already god-like, much less the whole Potion Shoppe. Epic collaborative build!- 18 replies

Waffles and Milk
ExeSandbox replied to ExeSandbox's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Woah, I wasn't following this thread, but darn, I thought nobody would comment anymore. Thanks for all the nice comments everyone! To answer some of the questions, this is indeed a digital render. Funnily, I completed the build and render of this model in just one day. Considering the effort I put into this, I was really surprised by the response that it got! -
Waffles and Milk
ExeSandbox posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
While not much of a foodie myself, I really love the idea of building food with LEGO bricks. This is my first (official) attempt at making food with bricks! Some waffles topped with butter and berries, drizzled with some maple syrup. The poor glass of milk is out of focus. I would really love some feedback on this. Do you think the maple syrup looks okay? Should the plate be square instead of circle to avoid the jagged edges? Thanks! -
Amazing modular building! I'm getting vibes from the Detective's Office, Assembly Square and the Pet Shop. You've certainly put a lot of thought into the colors and shaping!

Advice on selling LEGO MOCs and what are your experiences on it?
ExeSandbox posted a topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hello! I am just curious about this, and was wondering if anyone here has had experience in selling your MOCs online, or physically (like in a convention)? Because I have some interests in selling some MOCs myself, but I haven't had any experience doing so and it would be really great if you could give some advice on it. Here are some questions that I have: .1) How do you calculate the pricing on your creations? Do you charge based on costs of parts, workmanship, and shipping charges? Do you also mark up some more after that? .2) Have you experienced any pitfalls or miscalculations that might result in a loss of profit? Do some of you sell, but not for the profit? .3) How do you order your parts to build the models? If it's from sites like Bricklink or Ebay, there is the added price of shipping. Does every charge for shipment add up to the MOC's price? - Or do you bulk buy LEGO kits and create MOCs from there. If so, how do you go about calculating the price of the MOC? I would be very grateful for your advice on this! Many thanks! -
This goes without saying, but those curves are incredible! Love the color scheme and the clean contemporary design. It's like every element compliments each other.

LEGO Digital Designer installing problems
ExeSandbox replied to NicoLegoYus1419's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
LDD might become obsolete one day, but I still find it extremely useful. I haven't had any trouble installing LDD in the many times I have done it. Based on your images, your Windows does not look dated, so it should be able to install softwares by itself without the help of other softwares. And you said that without WinZip you are able to complete the installation? As for the "Delete Temporary Files", based on what you saw, is it deleting temporary files, or is it asking you to manually delete the temporary files. Is there any issues with this delete temporary files thing that prevents you from installing or using LDD?- 4 replies
