  1. Hi everyone, i'm back again with more MOCs based on the Waterford and Tramore Railway, which was a small seaside branchline in Ireland that ran for over a hundred years! (1853 - 1960) Today I'm sharing some simple coaches I've designed for this ongoing project to one day recreate the railway as a layout. I've previously shared the engine itself in this topic; it's only had minor updates since then, the main one being it's now self powered with a circuit cube motor! The W & TR featured a plethora of coaches from the many different eras it ran through, though I've mainly based these off of the six-wheeled compartment coaches, which were the main carriage the train hauled in the 1920s-30s era I'm basing it on. Although, for impossibility on curves reasons, I've kept them to four wheels.😁 As the carriages are twins, I'll only include the one from here out. The decals you see on the side are just temporary ones I made using yellow electrical tape, and green sharpie. It looks fine from a distance, but when I have the means to, I'd like to use some proper decals I've designed myself. Despite the long wheelbase, they seem to pull fine by the little engine on curves! The actual train only had functioning doors on one side of each carraige (the hinges and bolts being taken off the unused side), because there were only two stations on the line (or more specifically, a platform at one side), with a turntable and siding for the engine to get back around to the front of the train. I've included doors, although, they're a little less than conventional and functional, as they're either open or closed, which requires removing their section. I don't mind though, as I've made these on a budget and the fact they open at all is a bonus to me 😅 Each carriage dissassembles like this, easy access to put minifigs inside. I haven't furnished the inside yet - that'll be something I'll tackle much further down the road, but it'll be fairly simple seats. Here's the actual carriage itself for comparison's sake, taken from The 5-Minute Bell by Frank O'Donoghue: I know its not as detailed as many of the other amazing train MOCs I see here are compared to their real counterparts, but for me, I enjoy the more simpler Lego aesthetics of trains like 7710 (which helps when building on the cheap!) So in general I would try to strike a balance between aesthetics and details, leaning on the aesthetic side. What's next for me in this project though? That'll be The Hearse! But its not as grim a coach as it sounds, in fact, its ironically near its opposite's namesake in function - but I'll save that story for when I share the MOC! 😁 I've designed it in Studio, just a matter of tweaking it a bit, and saving up for the pieces. It'll fit nicely as the last carriage on the train. And after that? I've mentioned above that the train pulled coaches from all sorts of era's across its life time, so I may take a stab at some open Victorian era carriages, which were blue in colour in their heyday, long before the CIE Green i've emulated above. Maybe technically arachronistic, but variety is the spice of life! 😁 Way down the line is designing the large station which still stands today, but in the meantime I may design something smaller that I can afford 😅 And if you're still here, thanks for reading, and let me know what you think! 🙂 Also, don't know if I'm alone in this, but I quite like the look of using the 5-link chains to connect trains. Anyone else??
  2. Hi Everyone, As the weather's taken a turn for the worse here, I've been unable to get out on my bike, so today I decided to do the next best thing, and make a little model of it! I had no exact scale or requirements in mind for this other than that it be feasible to buy, as I think it'll look nice on the desk. Without further ado, here's my attempt at a, maybe, midi-scale Royal Enfield Bullet 500! And for reference, here's my real one: It took several attempts to get the headlight gasket to be a reasonable shape that I wanted, and have it be able to connect to the rest of the body. Here's the graveyard of failed attempts! I reckon some of them could be put to good use by a MOC-er better than I, in particular I was happy with the top right one, which used that Overwatch Gun piece as a base, but I just couldn't figure out how to level out the angle of the grip 😅 I'm quite happy with the look of the rear headlights and indicators; that black 2 x 1 tile would have a registration number on it. The connection to the rear wheel is probably quite flimsy in reality, but I like that it "technically" would work like the swingarm on the real thing. (It's just a 1 x 4 tile attached to a blue technic pin.) I think I've captured the exhaust's shape pretty well, except where it connects into the engine. But overall i'm happy with this, and it kept me occupied for the day instead of pining at the rain! Finally, because I can, here's other nice colours its possible to buy it in, I quite like the dark blue one's look, may end up purchasing it as well as the dark green one. Thats all! It's not perfect, and i'm already seeing ways to improve upon it, but that's half the fun anyways.😛 Any suggestions or thoughts are more than welcome, and thank you for looking! 😁

W & TR CIE Compartment Coaches

Thank you kindly! I believe a lot of the carriages on the Tramore line were 'borrowed' from Cork in the 1930s 😁 Unfortunately they do require their section to be taken out to switch between open or closed, otherwise they're pressed against the bricks beside them, if that makes sense? I'm sure there's a solution to make them easily open that i'm missing 🤔
  4. Hi everyone! Today I am sharing an updated version of an old MOC from 2013 ! It's based off an Engine from a long gone railway in my hometown, a GSR J26, or Irish Terrier as the type were nicknamed. It's a turn of the century tank engine, that operated on a branch line that wasn't connected to the rest in Ireland. I'm quite proud of how far its come from its first incarnation, which can be found here : Without further ado, here it is ! I got Big Ben Brick medium wheels as i found the official Lego large scale wheels looked great but made it monstrously large. Newer pieces of recent years made for nice rear windows, those 1 x 1 round tiles. And finally the engine from the front solo. Those smaller 5 link chain pieces are great! Thanks for looking ! Please let me know what you think!

    0-6-0T Irish Terrier Engine

Thanks! I agree that it does look a bit chunky at the rear, but on the real engine the cabs were modified to be larger, to hold more coal I believe. Heres a photo. My wheels could be a stud or two spaced apart to better match the real thing, but I wanted it to be functional on curves and points.
  6. That looks fantastic! Great use of the space for a same sized train chassis, but it lookslike a buff, mean, 1920s-esque machine. Are you going to put some Sinister Decals on those side panels for extra touch? Either way it looks great and I look forward to seeing it in the flesh if you can do it! Your story you've added about Clutch Powers is fascinating too, hope to read more on that in the future! Makes sense to have all the 1920s-ish era themes part of the same universe, especially considering they all have a degree of spooky ghosts or other "historical" fantasy elements to them. Good work!

    Lego Adventurers desk set

This is lovely! The raft being attached with the chain is a nice touch and the pyramid is built in a good way to use the limited space given. Plus the little details of the snakes and panel at the front. Only thing I could think is to make use of the limited interior of the pyramid to house the sarcophagus, maybe with a 'ruined' opening? Up to you of course! Great MOC.
  8. Seeing it in the flesh, that brown colour does suit it! Wonderful loco! That car is gorgeous too. As a suggestion which might interest you, there was an armoured train in the 1920s called the Zaamurets that fought across Europe and Asia, very Adventurers-esque, here's one of the turret cars: Could serve as inspiration to upgrade that gatling gun car so Johnny and friends have a bigger foe to fight? Either way, I really like this and look forward to seeing it on the rails I hope!
  9. Another great addition to your Adventurer's themed MOCs! Looks great and I love the engine, but I can't help feel it should be a different colour for Sam? Most of his vehicles in the OE line seem to have a black/gray colour scheme with a splash of yellow here and there, though I know black isn't an exciting colour for an engine, but maybe that paired with some yellow ribs on the engine and yellow lines on the tender could look good? Then again its your design so whatever you think is best!
  10. Hello! Recently i've been stuck away from home with only a small amount of Lego with me so I've been doing alternate builds of official sets to keep my mind occupied, and for the fun challenge of using only the pieces included in a set. This build was made just using the speeder from the Lego Star Wars 75195 Ski Speeder vs First Order Walker Microfighters. Here's the original build for reference And here's the plane! Based off those early WWII/mid 1930s fighter planes. All it's missing is a prop cos I couldn't find the right pieces from the set for it, but I think it looks fine despite that! And a view of the rear. Building with a small supply is a fun challenge and helps get the brain thinking during these times. Thanks for reading!

    Modding the Barracuda thread

Recently got the Pirates of Barracuda Bay and I love it! Built it first as the island then switched to the ship and I think it'll stay that way haha. But I'm wondering does anyone here have ideas for how to use just the island pieces alone to make an alternate hideout? I'd be very interested to see!
  12. I've done a few Lego Pirates inspired arts on my Instagram, here's a couple: Captain Redbeard's Racer The Black Seas Barracuda v.s a U-Boat (This one's a video if you click here) The BSB and Sabre Island And the last one (for now) A Parrot Vibing (Based on the one perched in Barracuda Bay) Hope ye like!
  13. Hello Train peoples :) Here to you I present a Tank Engine I built some time ago. It is probably obvious enough what it's based upon :P It may not be much, but it was the first thing I built after my dark ages. Now, with no further ado, here are the pictures! Please excuse my poor camera quality :( The rods on the wheels are actually single track pieces. This side view shows how big the cab is, i'm not sure if the proportions look proper or not.. The Unexciting back view! The inside of the cabin is a simple firebox and 4x1 tile with controls on it. Another angle of it... And finally, here is a front view of the engine. I think it looks better with two headlamps, but that's just my preference. I think I prefer working in 8 stud wide engines more than the usual 6, which is what I used to do when I was younger. The main reason I put these pictures up is because i'm probably going to dismantle it in a few days to use the blue parts for some other creations. Please let me know what you think of it, or if you have any suggestions that could make this or any future engines I might build any better? There was a great steam engine that used to run through my back garden in the 1850's to the 1950's, recently a book was published on it, i'm considering recreating it in Lego form.. Axle
  14. Really beautiful plane, Vaionaut! Love the use of Agent Kallus head as the pilot, suits the time period oddly enough! How long did it take to build??

    [MOC] Quackshot Starring Donald Duck

Looks great! Would the jacketless Indiana torso suit better, though? Or maybe the CMF Zookeeper or Explorer?
  16. I recently got the new AT-AT, got a free TC-4 minifigure with it. And then accidentally went back in and bought the new V-Wing and Deathstar Troopers Battlepack, with a free TC-4 Minifigure with each of those, so i'm wondering, is the TC-4 figure worth much? I have one still sealed in the packet, while the other two are buddies in the back of the AT-AT.
  17. So I've moved away for college and in a local Toymaster, I found a box full of old Bionicle and Slizer 'disc ammo', like this: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=8508-1 and some Bionicle Visorak spinners. There was about 7 of each in the box, each costed about €1.50 I think. I was wondering if they'd be worth anything more if I was to buy them and sell them on?? My guess is no, because they've been sitting in the shop for about 7 years or more, but it's worth asking,... Axle
  18. Is there any MOC that you think of and get an ache-y feeling in your heart wishing it was still around? Maybe you took one piece from it one day, and over time the MOC just disappeared into your box of bricks and was gone? For me it's this one: I apologise for the big picture and bad quality, but I can't seem to get it to go into 800 x 600 size Anyways, it was a tank that was in the original Lego Indiana Jones game, and I was so proud of this thing, I brought it everywhere, and then my dark ages happened and it got busted somehow . I remember spending many an hour in 2008 staring at the model in the game on the PlayStation 2 figuring out how to create it. Fond memories I might re-make this soon, though, depending on if I can find all those threads! There were 3 pairs, 3 on each side. Have you any regrets over MOCs you took apart? I apologize if there's a similar topic already made, but I couldn't find one.

    Steampunk Captains of Industry

What head did you use for Mr Latrine? They all look very good! How did you do the collars on Araminta Sedgwick's hands?
  20. Recently after my dark ages, something that happened to me before them keeps happening again. I've searched the forums, and I don't think there's a topic on this, but please correct me if i'm wrong! My problem is that I have trouble sticking to one theme! Originally after the dark ages, I was into pirates, but that soon turned into making a city and trains, but then I started doing some Star Wars things, and now I'm onto Adventurers after having seen a few Adventurers-styled MOCs on here! It seems to me that whenever I see a set from a theme that I have some interest in, that theme takes over and everything I do goes towards it instead of the previous thing! It's usually every two weeks that a "Theme-change" takes place. The only real problem with this is having enough space for each theme. At the moment I do somewhat have the right amount of space, my Pirate stuff on a display on the floor, the City on the table, Adventurers on a shelf just above it and then Star Wars above that, but it's all compact and doesn't leave much room for expansion for Star Wars and Adventurers. Has anyone else ever had this problem of theme hopping? I find that if I even just look at another theme that I like, I'll switch over to just focusing on it . It's odd.

Is this an ancient Lego town mini bus?

I'll take a picture of the bottom when i'm home this weekend, but i'm now doubting it's Lego cos the wheels aren't metal, they're rubber :( Any ideas if it'd still be worth anything?
  22. Hello there! So I've had this mini bus pop up in my Lego boxes a few times and began wondering: is this one of those mini buses that came withsome of those early town Lego sets? Perhaps someone can shed some light on this for me... If it was one, how much would it be worth?
  23. It's summer and that means I have time to do Brick films in between my thousand other projects! So I've done this short test film to warm myself up, I'm wondering what to do next, a 2 minute long short film methinks! Anywhoo, here's the film! Please gimme constructive criticism! Thank you! I'm aware the lighting is awful, by the way Axle

    Official Lego Movie

WOWEE! I am so excited! Look, they even have Johnny Thunder at 0:41! I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS, I'm TYPING IN ALL CAPS TO SHOW MY EXTREME EXCITEMENT! I'm glad that, like others have said already, that it's not just a film for kids like those other ones Lego recently released in the last few years, but it seems to have in-jokes and all that stuff that AFOLs would get!
  25. Last week I got the TIE fighter and a free cloud car planet series set with it. Today I got the Clone Troopers versus Droidekas set, I wish it was more clones instead of Droidekas, or more regular Droids, but I'm still happy with it anyways. :) hope to get some more sets mid summer!
