Rayjunx Posted September 24, 2014 Hi! Together with friends we started a robot battle contest in which we use tuned LEGO technic robots to battle inside a destructible city ;) We want to make a big show out of it and record it as video ^^ The robots have tuned motors and we control them with 2.4ghz system. So we can use more tanks and robots the same time in missions and races etc. And everything already work. Now we try to find new friends specialy for building the city and robots together, or helping record the video and driving the vehicles. But anyway we are happy about every feedback, about your ideas for this contest. We already have a prototype running which we show in this video: And we give away flyers and poster for free as long as we still have some ;-) Hope to get your feedback, Ray and the roboter nerd team ^^ PS: You can reply here, send message or mail to markus@freakwave.de , whatever you like. SNIPE Posted September 24, 2014 (edited) Cool concept I do think however that using lego springs will be better as they slide over axles and take up little space. they can fit inside of 2,3,4,5, or 6 L gaps. The springs come in 4 different strengths, here is an extra hard one: The black inner bit it not needed, I'm trying to design a gun that uses springs right now actually. Also, what Ammo are you using? Regards, Snpe Edited September 24, 2014 by SNIPE

Regards, Snpe here's a gun that uses them for propelling projectiles. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/130875 I don't really think that those springs would be sufficient enough to cause damage, a brick shooting gun like Xubor's mini thriller or any of jack streat's weapons are very effective for causing damage to stuff, I used to build guns, brick shooters are very powerful a typical range of these types of guns are around 25-45 ft. 1x4 or1x6 bricks deliver quite a punch, if you use larger size parts they will tend to spin in mid air, thus causing less damage and being inaccurate. Also this will be interesting to see how this progresses, will the city be constructed out of solid brick-built buildings ? KirTech LAB Posted September 25, 2014 It reminds me robots from Terminator ))) don't you afraid to live in one room with it? :)
_Cookie_ Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) Nice :D I liked the tv show "robot wars". With lego this would become an affordable hobby. Edited September 25, 2014 by _Cookie_
Rayjunx Posted September 25, 2014 Noooo!.... why they let me write and then tell me something is going wrong and i cannot reply... a text lost *lol* Sorry. so i do again: first Thank you! the gun looks awesome! I like to have one! And about the questions: -I have no fear stay in one room with the "terminator" he's usual very friendly *lol* -Springs are not strong enough for our kind of weapons, we need really a lot of power, so we have to use strong rubber bands and string mechanism, primary like a crossbow or bow, that works good. And we use strong connected lego lift arms as bullets, they have enough mass to destroy something ;) -And thank you a lot for all of your feedback, i hope all of you take a look at kickstarted if we start in 2,5 weeks. And if you like i can send over flyers and posters. We still have some. But I can not send 1000 of, i have to concentrate to people i can send more of them, and they separate them and give them to friends etc. Somebody like to have one? ^^ maybe I should login before I start writing next time *lol*
Fissl Posted September 25, 2014 Very imressive robot! you mentioned that you're looking for people to help. I'm quite interested but where will all the action take place?
Rayjunx Posted September 26, 2014 We will produce the video in Germany close Munic, PLZ 86865. But its not absolutely required to be here, our builders can work in distance to and send creations to us. We can also support the needed material to create it if the production begins. Rayjunx Posted September 28, 2014 Soon we reach the 1000 views in Youtube! Thank you all for your feedback. We are happy about the attention of every single viewer and hope the same number of visitors will be there if we launch this project next wednesday in two weeks at Kickstarter. See yah soon ^- Markus alias Rayjunx and the NERD Team

Rayjunx Posted October 1, 2014 Now we just have to go two more weeks, and kickstarted already approved the project page. We just have to wait because we planed all the pre marketing to that point. But times goes quick, so theres big news. And I already planing drones with LEGO NXT and LEGO quadrocopters for carry tanks and drop bombs
PROlego Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) LEGO doesn't fly and will never fly at least with the motors that are currently in production and with the batteries on board, are you going to "fake" the flight? Edited October 1, 2014 by PROlego
Rayjunx Posted October 3, 2014 As I written we using tuned and even replaced motors, and hole different batteries and control. "only" the basic elements are lego, what still is 90% or something like that. So we have a perfect platform and still enough power. For sure LEGO electric components never manage to fly. So we use electric components like in every drone, "just" with a LEGO airplane/drone body structure. Now we just have 12 days to go for the kickstarter launch ;-) Kickstarter also already approved our project page so we just have to wait and press the START button ^- About the development we are working now on 3 new things: 1) We want to use a giant drone and dropping mechanism to film a low terrain flight and drop down the "big" robot. 2) I start working now with LEGO MINDSTORMS to build autonomous robots and vehicles for rescue and clean up missions inside the contest. A demo video will be available around the kickstarted launch date. And this aspect of the show will invite a lot of hobby MINDSTORMS fans to join our contest. 3) And I going to build a high velocity fly wheel gun which should be able to shoot rapidly and with high power. I will finish it before kickstarted launch I guess. Depends on how many motors I require for reach this power goal and if I have to re order new material before. So have a nice day and stay prepared for the big KICKSTARTER launch on 15th this month. I update you again if news and video feed is available. Rayjunx Posted October 10, 2014 Heres another update ^^ 5 Days from now on and we will launch on kickstarter. Thats very exciting. And thank you for your great feedback. The response is just awesome! And I have some cool news for today: - Theres a new video availible where I create a big fly wheel gun with a lot of power. Its the only gun I not already tested to shoot my self ;) Heres the video: - These moment our main trailer reach the 2000 views mark ^^ - Tomorrow on saturday we going to the city, taking the mech with us and produce a short video of the peoples feedback. - On sunday I have the first foto shooting with a cute model, we going to test some anime style outfitts like the sketches show. Be prepared for the big launch on wednesday 12:00pm midday time in US. Our webpage will link you direct to Kickstarter. Have a nice weekend ;) Rayjunx and the Nerd Team
Boxerlego Posted October 10, 2014 Wow, Im looking forward for this. The Robot look awesome. What are the ideas on Rules and regulation. Also what do you think of this idea called capture the LEGO brick or bricks. Its a team base battle where the team with the most collected bricks win. The core idea is to use the battle robots to protect the team brick gather robot that can be describe as a front end loader. That a little rough idea for you to ponder on.
