Custom LDD bricks and fixes
Zerobricks replied to Equilibrium's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Good job @Kuramapika1 One bug I noticed though. 5292 motor's back side has a slightly too large collsion box, you can't put bricks next to it. For now I just deleted collisions in my 42908.xml file. -
Watching @TechnicBrickPower's videos on youtube gave me an idea to try my own version of the Automatic gearbox. The biggest change is that instead of using the inefficient differential to sense torque, the whole motor acts as torque sensing element. The motor is mounted in such way that it can be rotated and switch gears. A more detailed description and demonstration can be found here: For now this is just an unpolished idea, but it might be a gamechanger due to it's very high efficiency and simple construction.

Drift chassis question
Zerobricks replied to Mechbuilds's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'd suggest you to use proper hubs to hold the wheels, since you will have large lateral forces. I would build in scale and use the wheels from the Charger. Suspension can be simple, as long as you use a high steering angle and caster as Nicjasno suggested. -
Drift chassis question
Zerobricks replied to Mechbuilds's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Keep it as small and light as possible in order to break the traction. Having a very high steering angle will act as brakes enabling better drifting. -
Technic Model Comparison

Can someone weigh the stock 42115? I need to calculate how much weight the motorized version gained. -

I had exactly same comment on YouTube yesterday. It's your LDD, you need to use and older version. Check LDD subforum for more info.- 56 replies

Custom LDD bricks and fixes

OMG, thank you, been waiting for these parts! EDIT can you also change the exisitng 32494, 92906 and hubs to a ball joint connection? Not to mention 32494's angle is way too low. -
Technic 2021 Set Discussion
Zerobricks replied to LvdH's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think the trend is a 1:8 scale every 2 years and a 1:10 scale or so between them. -
Technic 2021 Set Discussion

Wow, what a big first wave! A polybag is a first I think in this theme Great idea to licence the power backs and give us some proper monster trucks. I hope they manage to give them some kind of suspension, it is after all a very important thing for monster trucks. Jeep Wrangler sems to me like in same scale as the Corvette was back in 2019 Judging from the part number of mcLaren Senna GTR i'd say around same scale as the Dodge charger 42125 Ferrari seems to be a 1:10 model, same scale as the 42110, I'd expect a full working 4 speed, maybe even 8 speed gearbox, but without paddle shifters. I expect to see the mudguards from 42096 back, this time in red, using the wheels of 42110 with low profile tyres. And it's nice we are getting pneumatics back and in a very cheap set, probably only 2 or 3 working pneumatic cylinders. -

From my experiences PU L and XL motor have basically same performance - same as PF L motors. -

I think you can increase the efficiency of the driveline in several ways: 1. Use a row of 24 tooth gears without gearing up from the PU motors - This will reduce the number of gears 2. Use CV joints from 42099 to transfer the torque to the axle - They are currently the strongest joints 3. Use a new diff and a 12 tooth gear powered directly from the CV joint Using these steps you will reduce the number of gears by at least 2 and increase the efficiency. EDIT, I missed the updated setup photo, I see you did most of those steps. -

That's an impressive pull. Are you using direct drive from the diff and how many driven axles?
