42116 Skid Steer Loader

I don't understand why this set has DBG, tan and blue pins. -

it's a simple 7x11 black frame. Edit correction, the distance indeed appears to be 9 studs which is the width of the hub, good catch. -

42124 Off-Road Buggy
Zerobricks replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Actually according to Philo (https://www.philohome.com/motors/motorcomp.htm), the PU L motor has a slightly higher stalled torque and a slightly lower RPM than XL which would explain why it would make more sense in this model. It's nice to see a suspended model with a positive caster angle, in theory it should be easier to drive it in a straight line. -

Upcoming 3x7 and 2x3 technic panels would be an awesome addition to complete the technic panels lineup. -
Lately I have been noticing mosty two types of posts here: 1. The pros posting the polished mostly real-life recreations of existing things, which spent hundreds of hours into getting all the details just right and raising the bar 2. The beginners who are enthusiastic about building and creating their own MOCs, but they tend to not listen to advice (positive criticism) very well and are opening many topics looking for a quick, instant solution (gratification) without fixing the underlying issue. What I think we need is more of the middle ground. Like others said more WIP topics and such. Yes, it's risky, you will get criticism, but as Jim said the way you are criticized also matters. Just remember to accept the advice from the experienced builders and not to be personally insulted. Personally looking at my own MOCs some 10 years ago I can see how much I improved and yes, I'd give my past self a lot of constructive criticism.

Same issue here. 10 years ago i could spam MOCs weekly, but it seems with experience comes attention to details which is time consuming. I also started to post less and less MOCs here, because the feedback simply isn't there anymore. It's really disheartening spending weeks on a MOC, recording videos, ediing, making LDD files, etc only to post it and having very few replies. And than icing on a cake you see that none of your Technic models ever make it to the frontpage, while a lot of other themes do, even if the models are much simpler and easier to develop/build. Also I also feel like there's a subtle racism if you might against Technic themes when compared to others. So many times I heard people saying technic is not real Lego, what's up with that?

I noticed the same thing both on forums and Youtube. It seems that sets, reviews and mods of them are now far more popular than any kind of a MOC. The most popular MOCs seem to be replicas of the real, existing machines. From my own experience it seems building anything original is no longer as popular than copying existing things or beating the dead horse of the offical lego releases.

BuWizz Motor [Video Test]
Zerobricks replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
if you have read my replies, you would see that this was just a test sample and that we will redisign the housing. Again advantages are: - higher current compared to either solution - higher RPM comapred to either solution - higher power compared to either solution - changed housing which will be easier to integrate into studless system but still backwards compatible -

That's the plan, get rid of the ridge and diagonals. -

We want our motor to also be backwards compatible, that's why we didn't change the mounting hole positions. This way you can install them in all the current and past MOCs. Yes, there is still such a limit for BuWizz 2.0. But we plan to support 2 motors at once on the 3.0 -
BuWizz Motor [Video Test]
Zerobricks replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We chose this form factor, because: - It's easy to attach wheels on directly - The motors can be stacked on one axle - Slim profile allows for very easy integration into the drive systems - Motors have high output RPM - something cirent motors lack - These motors are way more fficient because they don't use double planetary gear reductions Also idea is to change the shape so it's more compatible, getting rid of the diagonals and such, which will take a bit longer, but the end motor will be easier to integrate into the studless system. Gear ratios between outputs is 23:17. Current limit in the hubs is around 800 mA, they ar protected bothy by polyfuses and firmware. A buggy motor with a PU connector is possible ofc, but running it on the Lego hubs will not allow it to reach it's full potencial. That is why we used the PF plugs, so the motor can be compatible with PF, PU and the old 9V system -

Buwizz power limit
Zerobricks replied to CharlesD's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Motor use Polyfuses for protection. These are triggered by too high currents and/or temperature. You are drawing too much power from the motors, your gear ratios are too low for the motors. -
No to be rude, but if you haven't yet calculated theoretical top speed from motor RPM and wheel diameter, than you are not ready. As someone who managed to push a 3,6 kg Lego car to almost 30 km/h I can tell you reaching 50 mph (80 km/h) will be VERY HARD and you will need to do a lot of calculations regarding gear ratios, torque and even air resistance forces which will be encountered at such speeds.

Here's an idea. How about rebuilding a classic studded set (somthing up to 2000s) with modern parts and functions. For example 8479 Code pilot truck with modern building techniques, motors, sensors, PU, etc... -
I think it might be an issue of the pieces manufactured in different factories at different times, maybe even different moulds and materials... Having said that I worked in QA for quite a while and we had a calibrated chamber with a variety of lightning sources so we could check for such color inconsistencies and such massive variations wouldn't pass.
