Technic 2020 Set Discussion

I just noticed Volvo has a Dark Bluish Gray panel as a dashboard in the cabin. It looks like one of the fenders. -

Nice to see biscuit pieces in white and a lot opanels in Dark Bluish Gray. Also the theory of the dumb battery box is now confirmed. The rotors appear to be black which is good, because it's a neutral color. I expect Osprey to have use a gearbox to switch between: - Landing gear - Tilting of the engines - Openable rear hatch - Rotors -

New Powered Up system
Zerobricks replied to Niedzwiedzmin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
1. I suggest you check Racing Brick channel, he has awesome videos regarding PU system, here's an example: 2. PU will sooner or later replace all PF components and the change is inevitable. it also has many advantages such as accurate position sensing and integration of sesnsors from Boost and Spike. 3. PF is easier to set up and integrate, but it fails with more complex tasks such as accurate steering positioning, feedback, sensors, control of miltiple functions (over 8), limited range, programming etc... 4. Lego Powered up app (kind of) allows you to create your own profile. Again, refer to Racing Brick's channel 5. Same as question 3. Depends what you want. If you want a simple vehicle with 2 motors go with PF. If you want a complex factory assembly line with 20 motors, sensors and programming go with PU. 6. Don't know for Sbrick, but BuWizz has some plans for support, since PF is being phased out.- 13 replies

Or just buy black pins on Bricklink, they are still available. And yes, color vomit IS NECESSARY, because people's attention spans are getting shorter and shorter along with the need for instant gratification with minimum effort. That's how it is, you just have to deal with it. Now back to the set, I expect this supercar to be the most structurally rigid of the series thanks to the use of the new, bigger frames. And I also expect the gearbox to work more smoother because of the same rigidity which will keep all the gears in proper place without "L beams leaning onto moving axles" Only thing that worries me is the steering angle of the front wheels, I don't expect anything more than 25 degrees due to the limited space inside the wheels and angle limitation of the CV joint.

Ducati shock are exactly opposite of what you need, long travel and low force New diffs are not needed in manual model, they increase RPM and friction I agree on center diff CV joints might be useful for motorized version, no advantages in manual Why would you need linear clutches? Adjustable ride height is a good idea, could be done with MLAs I will motorize my model as soon as I get it, but it means gearbox will have to be removed You could use transparent bars as light guides and LEDs

Seems like a good improvement over the Bugatti, though not as big of a leap as Bugatti was over Porsche. I like the way they stacked the new frames to create a structural support for the rear which also holds the gearbox. The pushrod suspension is also a very good improvement and should be able to support the weight better. From the provided photos I do not see a central differential, so I hope they didn't skip it like in the Bugatti. Overall it seems like the best supercar to date.

Combining a 12 tooth gear and the ring extension into a single part would work, yes. You could use same design for an 8 tooth clutch gear. Adding a 24 tooth clutch gear would allow you to make a simple gearbox with the following possible ratios in a simple 2 stud offset: 1:3 1:1,67 1:1 1,67:1 3:1 Of course changing the offset you could have even more, different ratos. But for now this is just speculation and I doubt TLG would go so far to design so many new clutch gears What I expect is an improved gearbox from the Chiron using the new biscuit pieces and a proper central diff.
