Universal 4x4 off-roader

Thank you for the praise. Probably not that well, since the tracks lack any grip on hard surfaces -

Thank you for the praise, I'm really proud of it too and I'm glad soemone else notices it! The Wildcat 6x6 uses a smiliar, but slightly faster transmission. Remember, the 28T diffs in transmission act only as clutch gears, there is not suppose to be any 12 tooth bevel gears inside them so the 11214 pins are there just for support. -

Decided to make my first alternate of the 42132 set, a propeller plane with a working fake engine. If all goes well, I might come up with even more alternates from this set, they are really fun to make! Here's a quick video presentation and a building tutorial: Lego Digital Designer file link: https://bricksafe.com/files/Zblj/42132-alternate-sets/42132-alternate-1---propeller-plane/42132 Alternate 1 - Propeller Plane.mp4.lxf -
What a brillinat idea using these L panels to simply click into place! And I agree, protection from dirt is very important when offroading, a simple stray piece of rock or grass can wreak havoc on your driveline, damaging and disabling your model. If I see correctly, the drive goes to the rear axles at an angle? Got more pictures of it? And the rear axles are atatched using only one bottom link + a panhard rod? I asuume there's a top link somewhere too. Well done, really compact, though I would recommend using the small CV joints instead if U joints, since there's no 3L stud axle to slip out (I assume you used 5,5 in the video cause of this issue?).

Sure, here: https://bricksafe.com/files/Zblj/universal-4x4/Universal 4x4.lxf Also added it to the topic. I made custom portal which are a stud narrower for my tiger 6x6: I would recommend replacing the original U joints with CV joints which are stronger and allow more barcing. -

Nothing is stopping you from using different motors, gearing and controller -

20 studs between wheel mounts. There is a way to use perpendicular drive axles instead of differentials and CV joints at a this width or slightly wider for better stability like I did with my Oshkosh 10x10: But these kind of setup is more fiddly, weaker and generally less efficient. -

I don't see a way to make a locking, independent portal suspension so narrow. 8110's axle which was a live axle without locks and no suspension was 25 studs wide. I think you have to rethink your needs. -
42154 - 2022 Ford GT
Zerobricks replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, the 1:10 wheels have a diameter of 68,8 mm. 9 stud arch has space of 72 mm, which leaves 1,6 mm space on each side. But that's not enough to accomodate steering, unless you use very thin walls? -

Problem is that you will have very little suspension travel then. I think what we'd need is a redesign of fenders, wheels and suspension geometry which would allow the wheels to actually go under the fenders just like in the real cars. -

Thanks for the praise. It can go even faster though, this was all recorded in slow gear. -

For the Rolug 2023 Winter Truck Trial I made the Snow Edition. The main idea behind it is simple, just remove the wheels and pop on the tracks with no additional tweeking needed. Here's how it turned out:
