Again wonderful micro modulars! The art store is gorgeous, and that roof makes it stand out. The recessing window and the pallet are some nice touches. The little lime corner seems to futuristic to me, but I like how you used the place between the 1x1 rounds. If you're still looking for suggestions, I would give your stores actual windows do display their goods. Maybe a panel hanging out of the store would be nice to. Keep it up, a,d keep getting it better!

Awesome renders, and nice model! It looks a bit simple, but it also has a certain charm to it. I like the flow of the ship, and actually, I also like the ship when it's on its side. In some way, I just would like to see motor intakes one day on one of your ships. And for this ship specifically, I would love to have a look at the cockpit interior. You're really getting this style in your fingers. Maybe it's time to ry something bigger? Imagine a big frigate, surrounded by all those little fighters? Or a hangar bay?

Superb build! What stirikes me, is the fact this isn't a one dimensional MOC. From every angle, you've created a beautiful profile. The bottom part looks really good. Technically, everything seems really well built. The greebles are well made and original. Also, the back fin looks fantastic. I do agree with the ship being more pointier. Also, I like those grill tiles and the railings around them. But I canT spot them on the actual ship. A republic logo is missing however. That'll make the ship way more recognizable. Since you make such nice greebles, I wouldn't scare away of adding some to the elevated part where the bridge is mounted on. I would like to see some more tiles too, especially with the red markings. That would make them stand out more and give the ship more identity. Those things would give your already great model even more of a UCS feel. Cause you're really on the right way!

Just wow. I know how hard it is to make just one good microbuild, and you've made a ton of them! You really nailed a lot of ships, especially in the second picture. Others can use some improvement, although I wouldn't know how (like the tri fighter, the turbo tank...). Did you use existing pieces with the right colors only? I guess that's just like the real AC, with it's strokes of genious and some less fine builds. Also, the minifigs are pretty wisely chosen. Some kind of never before appeared minifig would be nice, but of course you couldn't do that in LDD. For the rest, I think you've made a pretty good and plausible iteration of the AC. That deserves a lot of praise. I have the feeling most people don't really recognize the effort that so many micro builds require. So... will you be doing something similar next year? You've got me excited! I'm curious you can come up with a worthy match of that red nosed ATAT (next time with horns?) !!!

[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
BEAVeR replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Is it allowed to enter a model that has building instructions, but never got released a a set? I'm thinking about models that are displayed in official Lego Idea Books (set 697 for instance). Detailed building instructions are provided in those books, but there never were sets with all those pieces in one box. So is that an appropriate addition to this database? And if it's allowed, under what theme, with which titel should it be credited? Thanks in advance!- 5,041 replies

So.... epic! The barren landscape, the majestic composition, the glorious fig posing (you really outdid yourself to make an intersting scene), the thrilling story and then that gorgeous dragon again... epic really is the word. I was going to say if there was one thing I would improve, it was to add some epic music. Untill I watched the video. Epic is an understatement.

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)
BEAVeR replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I've been working on my build, and have already a brick-built wampa, a typical Hoth door and console and a ton of Taun-taun pluches. But with the exams closing in, my time is running short to fit it all in a clean build. If I'm going to make it, it will be a close call. I hope you, my comrades, can come up with good stuff in time. This indeed needs to be an Impy victory! Those rebels have snatched those nice tags away from us too many times! -
Nice to see a Narnia MOC. I like the shape and texture of the house. Especially fitting for the social status of this boy. Nice to see you've even included a place to tie the horse. Another nice detail is the cross-section of the road. All the bits scattered across the build add a special effect. Well done! The trees look a bit weird and out of place, but it's Narnia after all!

Hunting in the Forest (built by my younger brother)
BEAVeR replied to soccerkid6's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is pretty good! The river looks great, especially with the difference in height. I like the sloping borders of the river. Those plants along the shores are great as well. It's nice to spot all the animals scattered across the landscape. That deer looks nice. A final good point goes to the border of the base. I've never seen it so following the landscape. That's quite nice! And that hedgehoghole is a surprising addition. If he's still looking for advice, tell your little bro to maybe give the trees more 'punch'. Some more foliage, different foliage pieces. Maybe a broken branch like the one in the river. Maybe a bird's nest tucked away in the tree. Maybe some roots reaching out for the water. I would also love to see a secondary river flowing into the main stream, or a little waterfall... but I'm dreaming again. Or not? You never know what to expect from your brother! -
There isn't a single build of yours that I can pass without saying how awesome it is And this is just a gem. The curves are very refreshing, especially in combination with the angled parts. I like that the spaceship is still flat though. The little pieces of assymetry are very nice, and so is the combination of classic bricks and Bionicle/Hero Factory elements to enhance your build. The cockpit is great, and you've encapsulated it brilliantly. so what could I possibly suggest to improve it? Nothing. I can only request a picture of how you accomplished all those curves with some kind of brilliant technique.

Hi Bart, Bert here. From Belgium as well... Glad to have someone like you aboard. Your blog looks decent! Maybe you could blog about some MOCs? Great to hear you don't enjoy you Lego alone. So what's your favorite theme? Train? Something else besides that? Anyway, I wish you a great time on this forum. You've been lurking, and seen howe grzat it is here. Being a member is even better. I just enjoy contact with all my Lego 'heroes'!

Thanks for your input everyone! I've decided to enter the Slave I because of the distinct look and more creative part usage. I've the feeling it's more a build that highlights that a lot of unexpected things hide within a box. The JSF was a bit more obvious, but not bad. And if you're not agreed with this decision, and think this won't be a winner, then vote for me... JUST KIDDING . And hey, if I don't enter this, that doesn't mean you can't build it (here)! I've enjoyed your comments very much. I hope you can enjoy this model too

Nice build, with a very distinct and attractive compositon. The concentric corners fascinate me. I like what's going there, and there are several things to look at. Those 45 drgree sloped screens are really nice. For Hoth, it seems very warm to me. Have you found the temperature control room? And for a ravaged base, it seems you've cleaned it nicely up. The better for us imperials looking around!

This is just awesome. For a small fighter this is just ideal. I love the shape and just the right amount of details. The yellow version is a jou for the eye. Keep it up, and go Battron!

You better won't be shy! Imagine what great bulds wouldn't get blogged then ;) About the minifigs, I see what your point is. But when so much different things are going onin such scene, one gets distracted from the build and the story. Maybe you could try concentrating all the action towards one point. Some other fun observations about the minifigs: Luke seems floating in the air. And Luke and Leia seem to have exchanged their torso's ;) most arc pieces seem available in white, like piece 6060 or 2339, so you won't need to paint anything. It's one of the only improvements I can see on this well investigated (well, apart from the droidekas perhaps ;) ) MOC. Looking through it again, I noticed some nice details, as well as multi-layered texturing in some places. All those grids are really nice.

That's a really nic docking bay! It's nice to see that MF getting a proper home. You did really well with all those greebles on the walls, and the decorating of the bay itself. I love the placement of those crates. You say you've posted this to improve your techniques. Well, it's already a great build. You used SNOT techniques where appropriate, abd greebling seems to go very well. The use of lights is amazing. If there's something to improve, it would be perhaps the minifig placement. It's already very good, but some minifigs seem a little pointless, thus distracting from the story you really want to tell. As for building techniques, my only remark would be that i'd want to see those corners of the great entrance of the bay rounded. Now you've used slopes, but I think using the viggest arc pieces would do a better job ere. I still think this is a great build, abd worthy counterpart of that big hangar bay for the UCS MF. You did an amazing job here, congratulations! Never fear to post something again.

What a nice scene! Everything is just a plezsure to look at. That lattice for the book closet is just great, and those panelpieces used for the supports are lovely. And are those suitcases used for drawers? But that are just the details. The scene as a whole is formidable too! The loneliness and coldness get across really well. It's pleasant and unpleasant to look at at the same time. What a feat!

Glad you like it guys! You make me every time before my laptop... I'm sorry for you wallet. now you heve to get another one of these... I'm open for suggestions. What set should I do next? I'll try to make some alternates of medium-sized, recent sets. That's a good alternative for all those MOCs I make that are absolutely impossible to build... Finally, I convinced someone to join the contest, rather than deterring everyone... mission succeeded, especially since it's such a tallented builder like yourself. Now I have a bit of a problem. I mentioned I could only enter one single model in the contest. I need your opinion: should I go with the JSF or with the Slave I? As for myself, I like the originality of the Slave I, AND I like the look of this JSF. So I'm . Can you help me out? Thanks in advance!

[MOC] Jedi Starfighter by Bert.VR, on Flickr Hey, I think I've seen those pieces before... And you're right. This Jedi Starfighter is another alternate build of Lego's 75003 A-wing, just like my Slave I. Once again, all the pieces come from that one set. At least, this time the colors actually make sense... I think this alternate building is growing on me. I can only enter one MOC in the Rebrickable alternate build contest, but I can still have fun and promote it ! So I was thinking about another build. A republic gunship turned out too complex and ended in one terrrrrible looking and undoubtely filmsy build . I did, however, took some techniques with me for this starfighter. I own both the Slave I and Obi-Wan's starfighter, and while building my previous entry, I noticed that a lot of pieces where in common with that starfighter. Seeing another Starfighter MOC here inspired me to take the final step. And this is what came out. [MOC] Jedi Starfighter by Bert.VR, on Flickr The starfighter features an opening cockipt (with place for a minifig like Obi-Wan, and with place for a coffee mug of course) and landing gear. It includes motors and realistically angled wings. Making the sharp nose was the greatest challenge, but some SNOT saved me in the end. The color scheme ended up looking a tiny bit like Obi-Wan's starfighter, so that's a good thing. Slave I and Jedi Starfighter by Bert.VR, on Flickr So what do you have to remember from this adventure? Buy two A-wings, and you get an opportunity to recreate that chase sequence from Episode Two once again. To do so, check out the Rebrickable page (I will post a link once it gets approved) for a digital model and a partlist. You'll find pdf instructions here. Just like the old days. A set is never one set!

Nice to see some more pictures! I really like what you did with the back fin. Your picture-editing skills are examplary too. You're MOC inspired me to make a jedi starfighter myself, but only as an alternate build of 75003 (it should be around on this forum somewhere now...). Thanks for the inspiration! Hope you don't feel stolen

Once more a beautiful, original masterpiece of spacecraft design! You never faul to surprise with thise superb curves to give your models that extra organic tint. On this one, I especially like different curve pieces on the sides that evoque scales perfectly. The motors, on the other hand, seem a bit thrown on... is there a way you could integrate those more into the body? Than you could use them as shoulders, or bulging muscles at the same time. Just some ideas... So congrats with your fantastic model! I bet there's a super-duper cannon or even a flamethrower hidden inside that head...

You may be a newbie, but don't you think I'll be kind to you because of that. I'll just be kind because this is an excellent MOC! Sure, we've seen a lot of JSF's but this one stands out to me. The proportions are exactly right, and decorations are stylish, but not overdone. The cokcpit area is beautiful, especially with that comfy looking chair. The nose may seem a bit messy, but 1) you can't avoid that and 2) actually, that battered look looks awesome. It's great you managed to include all the necessary features, like the cockpit interior, landing gear and the removable astromech. I would love to see how you did the engines and the back part though. So you're off to a great start. I think that, after this, you'll never have to ask after kindness again. People'll just give it to you. If that isn't a reason to continue to share you nice builds! ... and your nice picture editing skills too...

[C-MODEL] 42004 Excavator
BEAVeR replied to fresko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like it: a very capable entry in a wonderful contest. Maybe you could use the leftover giant bucket to cover up the body. You would need to rework your model however... and it's alreday good as it is. This contest is getting some really good entries!- 12 replies
