Trading with Farmers (built by my little bro)
BEAVeR replied to soccerkid6's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
These MOC's keep getting better and better! I like the field with the log bricks in SNOT, but I would suggest a darker color and more variation (as said, it looks too clean). In my opinion, there's too much tan in it now. Some more dark tan would be nice. I wonder where this is going... I can't imagine the creations of your brother when he grows older. -
[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
BEAVeR replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I made this models when I was stuck with a MOC. It's quite relaxing, you learn some techniques, and you can help other people with posting it on Eurobricks... if you can find a model that hasn't been made yet! I know, it's just one set. But it was a lot of work. 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (A Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: / 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (B Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: / 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (C Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: / 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (D Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: / 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (E Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: / 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (F Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: / 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (G Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: / 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (H Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: / 4507 - Prehistoric creatures (I Model) - Theme: Creator LXF file (LDD 4.3.6) Errors: /- 5,041 replies

Everybody wants a new massive Cloud City set. So I wondered... How would TLG do it in real life? My idea is they could do it just like they did Jabba's Palace. That means they wouldn't just give 1 set, but multiple combineable ones. 1) A big set, like Jabba's Palace, with a lot of minifigures: Lando, Leia, Han, C3PO, R2D2, Vader, ugnaught, chewie, stromtrooper, Cloud city "trooper". The set itself could be divided into multiple rooms: the prison, the dining room (where they meet Vader), the droid room, a piece of corridor and one of those rooms where Luke fights Vader. This room connects to the spine ("Luke, I am your father" "Noooooo!"). 2) Just like the Rancor Pit, a level beneath this set could be constructed. This would be the Carbonite Chamber, including Luke, Han in carbonite, Boba Fett... There would be an awesome play-feature to freeze Han and some things to tip over - in order to simulate the epic final battle. Placing this set beneath the first set would create some height: ideal for the spine of the first set. Now you can really have some depth. This Carbonite chamber could also include a tube for Luke to glide in. 3) The Desert Skiff could correspond to a Twin-Pod Cloud Car, including Lobot and another Pilot. 4) Finally, a new Slave I could match Jabba's Sail Barge. This one could include Boba Fett, Bossk, Han in carbonite... (but now there are a couple of doubles ) I know we got a Slave I not so long ago, so that wouldn't be realistic in the near future. So here it is: my idea of how Cloud City could be really done by TLG, using similarities with already produced sets. Perhaps I will turn this into a Cuusoo-project one day... when I have time to spare

Allow me to whipe the drewl of my keyboard... This is superb! The windows really work, and I'm a fan of the road leading to the castle along with the chariot. The back of the building looks great too, but I would like to see a bigger picture of it. How long did it take you to build? Anyway, this would be a great addition to the world buildings line!

This is amazing. All the little scenes (both hints to movies as creative finds), the fine architecture (and look at those different wallpapers, those curtains...), the great sub-builds (that small gate for example), the textures and wheatering (that cracks in the facade and in the ground really add to it) make this scene terrific.

I can do no harm repeating that I'm everyone most grateful for the kind response. That's quite a compliment you give me there! The 10240 is awesome! If you want to build it yourself, I won't sell any instructions: come on, it's only 442 parts! Instead, I have shared the LDD-file (see first post). I've adapted the colors in the model (now it looks horrible in LDD but should look OK in real), so now it's built out of bricks that are available in real life (for the occasion, I downloaded LDD Manager). I looked through the (pointless ) building instructions LDD generated as well, and spotted no impossible situations. All in all, I'm now convinced it is buildable in real life (although I haven't built it myself so far, because I lack money ). If someone does, please enjoy your build and let me know something (gimme pictures! )

Very impressive for such a small MOC. The shape is just right and I love the back of the ship. Only remark: the mast doesn't look that rigid, I hope they won't encounter a hezvy storm. Keep it up!

That's... brilliant! It may be illegal (and that's why I can't do it with LDD), but it really looks good. I'm glad we can (sort of) work on a same MOC together. You have my permission to build a whole squadron of these! PS: now I have an idea for a Y-wing with only 3 pieces. The yellow lamp holder stays, and you put two nozzles (part nr. 58367) in it with the handle parts.

St. Gwydre's Church - Dark Isle Saga: Chapter 1, Part 7
BEAVeR replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Glorious! When looking at the last picture, that could be a real postcard. Your textures are never seen: complex and not purposeless. I like the not-flatness of the ground, with all those gloomy, well built tombstones. The dark details like the rope hanging from the tree make this scene really gloomy and fit to the story. I'm looking forward to the next instalment! -
What a triumph! Those grill tiles, clip plates, railings... all combined in a wonderful, round and dark red MOC. Magnificent! The whimsical cockpit is very appealing to me as well. It looks like some sort of glider. I do hope you make more of these UCS podracers. And if you do - and even if you don't - the best of luck.

Indeed, I used the piece you name. Why am I always using these pieces that don't exist in that color? But now something totally different... behold my next massive MOC !!! Oh well... more something like a joke than a MOC, I guess . If you wonder how tiny you can go, there IS a border. At least, now I have a world record on my name... I put this 5 pieces-counting behemoth together in a record time. Still like the lipstick-pieces though...

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I'm glad you like it. Wow... I'm... blogged? That's amazing! Thank you for deeming this collection of 29 bricks (including the lasers) worthy! You as well, thanks for the compliment and the advice. But first of all, this is made in LDD, so no illegal connections are allowed. I've tried to put one of those minifig-levers behind the handle in real life, but that didn't work. I don't think this car doors combine well with other parts... Relax! You don't have to say it twice ! No, serious. If you want to use this model, you have my permission and gratitude. Glad I can help someone out. I don't think you'll need instructions for this one, and I think all parts exist in those colors. If some one wants to build the TIE advanced however, that would be impossible because the wings (shields) apparently don't come in black . I'm sorry.

Excellent work! Somehow you have captured both the organic look AND the car elements. With Lego! I can't wait to see more of this and your other work.

Amazing building and amazing build. Your model is very accurate and gives the feeling of room. Very well done! The roof/ceiling is an achievement, with all those nice curves, but I like the benches and the hallways as well. Excellent work. It wouldn't look off in the Architecture line. Besides, you gave us the info from the booklet anyway...

It all started a year ago. I was following toomuchcaffeine's project on cuusoo (micro star wars scenes), and in the comments he said he had trouble making an X-wing. I could spare some time, and I started building myself, in the hope that I could contribute to that wonderful project. I wondered how small I actually could go making the X-wing. I wanted to make it instantly recognizable and yet very tiny (those official micro models from the planet sets are great, but you can't call that micro ). So I had to use some odd parts for het most iconic features: the wings. The X-wing got car doors.Once I had that key-feature, I kept the main body simple and focused on the shape. I suggested this design, but (obviously!) it was too big for 2MC's project (no hard feelings!) But I started to really like this micro-scale building. I improved my X-wing, and decided to deliver him a friend enemy. The TIE-advanced got shields as wings. I was happy with this micro build and I made this little scene, complete with pew-pew lasers! (the flick-fire missiles are unfortunately out of scale ...) Again, built with LDD and rendered with LDD2POV-Ray. Then, I amused myself by making a real scene , with the excuse of letting you see the model from another angle... Hope you like it, and if you do: thank you, the pleasure is all mine. Eurobricks is awesome

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback! I have just tried it, but using those flat hinges is not feasible. Making a gentle curve is hard, as the "cable" that is so formed, is either too short or too long. Besides, with only room for 4 hinge-modules that curve wouldn't be really smooth

I have just finished building 10214, the huge Tower Bridge . That reminded me of a MOC I made some time ago. Maybe I wanted a more manageable version of the tower bridge, or maybe I wanted to give the Architecture Big Ben a companion. In other words: I wanted to build a mini Tower Bridge Since my collection of bricks is pretty limited and outdated, I decided to make it in LDD. It didn't take too long and I was quite satisfied with the result. Satisfied enough to render it using LDD2POV-RAY (thanks, hrontos! ). After about two hours, this picture came out: So there you have it: an Architecture-style Tower Bridge that uses similar techniques to the Big Ben, but offers a play feature as well ! Yes, the bridge opens, hurrah! I hope you liked it, and here is the link to my Flickr, although there's not much to see there... yet. http://www.flickr.co...s/98281410@N07/ UPDATE: Find the LDD file here PS: now I'm possessed with the reversed feeling: I'm building a Big Ben in scale to the giant Tower Bridge. Still a WIP though...

I'm totally fond of this. The hair is just amazing: scrambled up, yet not shapeless. And the top is removable too, I guess. One thing misses however. There's no bridge that connects the two halfs of the glasses. Maybe a small droid arm or so could do the trick...

As said, your model captures the shape of the ship perfectly, but the vertical layer-structure on the hull is lacking. I'm also a big fan of the ragged ends near the trench, although they don't show up everywhere (but that's impossible due to the wedge plates...) Concerning the cockpit, I would suggest using some Bionicle/Hero Factory pieces to get a nice shaped and ragged look. The best of luck with your new masterpiece!

The basket as a hat, the paddle as a fork, the hairpiece for the mouth... How do you ever think of this? Great!
-
Then why did they wait so long for Yavin to go out of the way? That was what I meant...
-
I was playing with the same idea... What if Hoth was a little hotter? What if the Death Star had hyperdrive? What if Jar-Jar had made it to the OT? What if the shaft the emperoris thrown in was a little narrower? What if the trash compactor had stopped a little later? (I know the answer: they would have been turned into cubedudes!) Anyway, I was playing with the idea of a rather humorous "what if....?" theme. Or maybe a behind the scenes build, with ewoks relaxing in the lounge along with the wampa...?
-
Epic! The little details, the humor, the hints to future sets (wonderful Lincoln and panda), the richness of LEGO history and the animation style with the interesting rendered surfaces... this is amazing!

Outstanding! Your landscape is amazing. I love the different types and sizes of mushrooms, the rotated base and the transition from sea to mud to sand. Great atmosphere. Well done!
