[MOC] Puggie, the funniest and most adorable dog on earth!
BEAVeR replied to marcosbessa's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Who doesn't love pugs? You've created those adorable dogs in a memorable way. Those glorious tan slopes come together to form that dog we all love. Awesome job! I've no idea to attach that bowtie on a dog in real life, but those toes you've created are just the best! Keep on building, as an AFOL as well. -
Probably the best LEGO dragon ever. It's dynamic, it's powerful, it's beautiful. That tail, chest and head make me drewl all over the place. That 3rd picture should be made into a poster. Can you imagine a gulf of flame rolling out of that mighty mound?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments! I hadn't expected that much response, so thank you. Well, I did! On the Rebrickable page, you'll find a part list and a link to the digital model. If you're not familiar with Lego Digital Designer, I've created a pdf with the generated buidling instructions as well. Be carefull to read the part callouts properly, as those instructions are quite unclear from time to time. I hope it delivers all you need. I'm very glad you want to build it. Great idea... I think the X-wing is a winner ! Hey, wait a minute! It was my intention to encourage other people to enter in this contest, not to discourage them! And believe me: this is not the best alternate build out there. I'm sure you guys can come up with some pretty cool stuf yourself! Well, if you shrink him down first, then dismantle some of your ship and find an extra stud, you can perfectly fit the carbonite Solo in there! Thanks for pointing out this extra play feature!
-
Superb design! Those window whipers, that mirror at the right-hand side, the finishes on the wheel caps... I don't know where to begin. You did everything you could to make this car outstanding. Maybe replacing that stud with a frog piece to simualte the famous logo?

[MOC] Slave I - flyby by Bert.VR, on Flickr Well, that Slave I has some weird colors! Not exactly minifig scale, is it? And that isn't even Boba Fett in the cockpit... What is going on here? Yes, I can read minds . But don't the colors and the parts remind you of a certain LEGO set? The A-wing (75003) perhaps? Indeed, this Slave I is an alternate build of that set. Do you remember that good old days, when Star Wars sets came with alternate models (like the y-wing and tie advanced: you could build tons of things, ranging from a battering ram to a lightsaber! But I'm digressing.) That's right, all 99 pieces come from the A-wing set. It was quite a hard build. I used up every single plate in the process, and getting some good SNOT done for the 'nose'-area was quite tricky without any real SNOT bricks. But hey, I think I managed quite well. I was even able to include some play features. Besides details like the guns, some details on the wings and featured motors, the cockpit opens, a minifig can be fitted inside (and rejoice: even Boba can fit in with his helmet and jetpack! ), and the wings can be tilted for flight and landing. It lays perfectly flat and stable once landed, and it swooshes quite well, I suppose. Not too bad for just an alternate build, I would say... [MOC] Slave I - landing position by Bert.VR, on Flickr. This model was built for the December alternate build contest at Rebrickable. Sign up and have some fun with alternate builds for yourself. It's genuine Lego. You buy a set, build it within half an hour, destroy it after fiftheen minutes of playing, and start building something completely different with just those few bricks. It's delightful . I certainly got hooked. Lots of ideas are boiling in my head. How about a tiny republic gunship...? Thanks for watching. I hope you've enjoyed it. One more picture of the back can be found at my Flickr account. And in the unlikely case you're interested in building this model, instructions (in the form of the digital model) are available at Rebrickable. If you don't have the A-wing, you'll find a handy part-list as well. And if you aren't into digital models, here's a pdf with the generated building instructions. Read them very carefully, cause they're quite obscure at some points. I leave you with a final picture: [MOC] Slave I - Give me back my coffee! by Bert.VR, on Flickr So that's why Boba Fett chases Han Solo... For the people into SoNE: When we rode away in the highjacked Sandcrawler, I finally got some rest. I wandered around the vessel, and found myself intrigued with all those parts of junk. What wonderful things could be built with those parts! My pilot's heart began imagining all kinds of different ships. I don't remember if I really saw it, or if I just imagined it. But I have a clear memory of what looked like a Slave I. I got a little scared, but very soon saw it was not Fett's ship. One of those rebels had built it with the remains of his A-wing! Some people can do great things with part piles, I thought to myself, even rebels... I don't want this to be judged however, since it's already an entry in the Rebrickable contest. But I found it funny to build with even fewer parts this time, so I thought I'd share this with you as an aside.

I don't want to come over greedy, but maybe a lot of people are passing because there are no (big) prizes to win? I know that's not the point of SoNE, but with so many contests right now, people have to make decisions. Especially in this busy time of the year. I hope people don't really think that, and that they see that it's all about the fun of buidling together. Anyway, I'm working hard on my Episode III entry. I won't let you down!

Simply stunning. Each and every rendition of this location is magical to me. An d you've only made it better! The tree roots are really what stands out. They're quite unique, beautifully angled and use the ever so friendly frog piece. You'd almost forget that beautifully structured house! With all those different pieces, it sill seems like a nice cohesive place to live in. Well done! And that rabbit isn't so bad after all... More animals are welcome! Maybe a hedgehog made out of a comb?
-
Very interesting and well executed design! It's unlike everything I've ever seen before, and yet it's so recognizable as a cargo ship. Some really nice techniques too for creating those hexagonal and octagonal shapes. Does it features some kind of motors on the back? I'm rather curious...

[SoNE EPIII] Auxilary Armoury near Hangar AG-4G
BEAVeR replied to Tom Jurassic's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Nice scene: you've started in the right directions, but I think you should elaborate some aspects. In the top part, you've added some relief with layers of plates. And in the bottom part, you used some rock pieces. Great, but try adding some more slopes, some extra wear on the floor. After all, the base got pretty beaten up when it was attacked. I like the technical looking support beams you used. Try adding more of those details. Some tubing on the roof and in some corners would do the scene good. You could try to use less prefabricated pieces, and let yourself go with crazy part combinations. Last thing are all the different pieces, scattered across the scene. They too are nice, but could use more detail. Place the chairs at an elevation, use panels for the screen, give that red box some trays or tubes... you could do a lot to make the scene more interesting. So... a good beginning indeed! -
[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
BEAVeR replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Those Star Wars Technic sets are really a piece of art and engineering... and hard to recreate in LDD . Luckily, the Hinge Allign tool now works half of the time . 8002 - Destroyer Droid - Theme: Star Wars (Technic) LXF File (LDD 4.3.8) Errors: - Rubber bands (quite a few!) not attached. I placed them next to the model - Part 6643 not available in LDD - Part 6644 not available in LDD - Part 342c01 not available in LDD. replaced with simular flex hose - Part 78 not available in LDD, replaced with simular hose. - Part 4868 not available in LDD, replaced with simular part - At the for legs, the boom containing the corrugated pipe could not be attached to the 1x3 flat technic pieces. - At the very top, the technic pins with stud could not be attached properly Bur wait... there's an alternate build as well! Didn't see that coming. 8002 - Destroyer Droid (Alternate build) - Theme: Star Wars (Technic) LXF File (LDD 4.3.8) Errors: - Rubber bands not attached - Technic halfpins not attached (they should be in those those two hole right beneath the main gun) - Two of the angle connectors that form the demi-circle could not be placed. - Part 4868 not available in LDD, replaced with simular part I'm really glad I can contribute to this wonderful database. Did you guys know it has been referred to at Rebrickable? Congratulations to all people working on this- 5,041 replies

SoNE Contest Episode III: Return to Echo Base
BEAVeR replied to Lobot's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thanks for clarifying this for me! I guess you'll be using LDD Manager to check if the part-color combinations exist in real life then? So I can use the same guidelines as you guys. Ideas are already boiling inside my head... I think I'm about to unveil one of the Alliance's darkest secrets this episode... this is going to be very interesting! -
SoNE Contest Episode III: Return to Echo Base
BEAVeR replied to Lobot's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I think you've mistaken me for one of your own "pilots". I'm surprised you hit him, it must be your lucky day! Well, now that pilot has indeed a reason to be on the ground... -
SoNE Contest Episode III: Return to Echo Base
BEAVeR replied to Lobot's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
This is going to be great and so much fun! Thanks in advance! Just a few more questions: - It's hard to be a pilot in this episode (I'm a good pilot, but I can't fly a TIE inside a refrigerator!), so is it OK if we support the ground troops right now? - As for using LDD. I presume we can only use existing bricks, right? No extnded mode? No matter what the restrictions, those rebels will get a defeat under the chrisms tree! -
Episode VI - Pit of carkoon - Sarlacc Diorama
BEAVeR replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Ever since I saw you "big bang" MOC, I've been wanting to see that magnificent Sail Barge from up close. It's stunning. And the landscape does it right. I like how the tan flows to dark tan in the pit. Really gives a sense of depth. And that fig posing is great: there's tension, there's something about to happen. So yeah, I'm very excited about this scene. Just please add a Bantha! Now that would be cool. -
SoNE Contest Episode II: Escaping from the wreckage
BEAVeR replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Lucky rebels... with your numbers, your extra parts, your talented builders... It's not fair! At least you didn't get those plans you ware looking for. This may look like a victory, with all those tags, but in fact it's your biggest defeat since the battle of Hoth! Stupid rebels... But hey, I didn't say your builds were thát bad. -
Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)
BEAVeR replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
We lost, but at least we survived... to win this war! We'll get those rebels as unexpected as that sand storm! -
Nice to see how those X-ray images actually look like... But I think that last minifig may have some bone problems Yep, there is a certain weight difference between minifigures, but in most cases that difference is small. You'd need an accurate scale. To make things worse, not all the bags have exactly the same sizes. That complicates things a lot. In fact, all of this has been discussed before in this topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71810 But I do believe using a scale can narrow down the bags you have to feel, or to X-ray.

[SoNE Freebuild] Meeting on Tatooine
BEAVeR replied to Donnie Bricko's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Very nice job! I just love the irregular look. It's so fitting for a place with little confort and much improvisation. I love all the odd bits and wacky curves. That bar counter is just fantastic. I looks like somebody bought it on a second hand fair, and that's a good thing in this case. Very bald, interesting and succeeded choices. This really isn't your average build. But why is our dear friend Max Rebo so shy today? I don't hope he's allergic to that red dust all over the place -
You could go to "Toolbox -> Take a screenshot" as well. For better shading of the bricks and a more realistic look, try going to "Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced Shading" and turn the level up. You images look better without having to render them. Hopefully that helped. Looking forward to those pictures!

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Glad you liked yet another column of me. Yes, I know. I cheated a little. Besides the whips, the gear at the bottom isn't available as well... but that isn't the main problem here. And to give you an idea of how it could look in real life with brown whips, I made this picture: Mmmm... chocolate... and internal structures! This comment made my day. Glad you like that piece. I think it's really fitting, with the appropriate curve and details. And now I start thinking about croissants... with chocolate... I should really watch my wheight... Croissants with powder sugar? Maybe that's going a bit too far . But yes, this part comes in white in the Parisian Restaurant. Actually, it was this set that probably gave me the idea to use that part. I'm such a copy cat . Thanks again for liking this! Are there any columns you guys want to see next?

Hey, my name is Bert too, and I live in Belgium as well! Nice to meet you, and welcome to Eurobricks! Belive me, joining this forum won't let you down.

I very much agree with a lot of things that have been said in this topic. SoNE is still young, and can use some good advice to grow and become an established value on its own. I think it should be great if SoNE got frontpaged some more. That could draw members in that usually don't hang out in the SW forum. Showing some previous builds and letting people know that you don't have to be a walking SW-encyclopaedia to participate, would help a lot. SoNE already brought some fresh MOCcing blood into this forum, and I greatly enjoy the variety of builds produced, not being the fifthiest iteration of the same scene. No offense to those MOCs (I may be a bit guilty myself), but it would be good to let people know that SW is more than building X-wings and TIE-fighters. SoNE already has made some steps in this direction, and I would greatly regret losing it. About the pile of bricks from the last episode: In my opinion, it was a great idea. But I noticed that almost nobody used LDD (2 entries, inclusing that of myself) , and there has nevere been a digital freebuild to date. It's about time I change that... but that's another question. In a recent topic, I noticed there's still an aversion towards digital MOC's. That's a pitty, because a lot of good MOCcers get lost, just because they don't have enough bricks. Maybe this initiative would be the chance to get those people building, knowing that their builds will be just as appreciated as MOCs using huge amounts of bricks. So I don't want to lose digital MOCs in this contest/building experience. That's why I think itnshould be clear that this is a contest for everyone. Not only for SW freaks, not only for rich people. That's why we should stay a friendly, open and supportive community. Our enthousiasm and welcoming could be the best mean to let more people feel the fun of this initiative. Because, honestly, it's al about having fun with bricks. Who doesn't like to curse that rebel scum? A big thank you to the organization for making this all possible, and for kindly listening to those people that think they now things better. Though you may not have a lot of time right now, I believe you are visionaries. I believe we can make this thing work.

*Masterpiece* I can't imagine how you've added all those pieces together in the most insane angles. Everything seems so fragmented, yet so organic. I think this buste really has personality, from the front, from the side, from any angle. that's rarely seen. Marvelous job! With all those angles, the ears do strike me as rather straight, but I don't know the real character, so who am I to judge... I can say I pity those whips for being so streched. But for such a beautiful creation, that must be worth it.

This viper is really unique. The long wings are really like fangs, and I just love the fusion between organic and technical features. And the colors are of course beautiful. This is one of those ships that seem completely "right". Congratulations!
