    This is an amazing build, as usual! The water technique looks great, and the castle looks excellent. I like the use of the 2x1 wall segments, and the layout is well done. I especially like the path leading down to the beach. Beautiful!!!

    I would like to do a nice character driven storyline as well. I am planning to start my Brickworld display once I have CH VI under my belt, which will be a large castle/Avalonia layout of some sort. I still need to knock out those title builds as well, I just don't seem to have any spare time right now...

    I think the catapults are what are most reminiscent of KK2. After MMP, the Mill and Joust, people have been hoping this caliber of set would continue. When I was young, the castle wall piece was THE BEST PIECE because they let me build tall castles and keeps. Lego is incorporating these into the new sets, which makes sense because they are great for kids. Clearer pictures will sort out the quality of the sets and figs, but they are definitely reverting to their standard castle style.

    This is Amazing! I love the way you incorporated the sunken brown paths and all of the village buildings. There is so much activity going on in this build! This build is enormous! Great job!

    This is a colossal MOC! You've put tons of detail into it, and you always do a great job with your angled walls - I love it! The color scheme is great, and I love the way the entrance wraps all around the castle. Stunning!

    I concede that every kid is different, and that these are merely my views on what TLG would be thinking. I think that it would be a significant commitment for them to make BPS in any line other than SW, which has been a ground breaking theme for them. I have to imagine their is some risk involved with a BP, or at least TLG would perceive some risk. TLG would have hard data as to how well BPS sell relative to other sets, how well LoTR has been selling, etc, which I don't have, so this is just guesswork on my part. The longer LoTR lasts, the better chance I think there will be of BPs. The problem is that I don't expect LoTR to last more than another year or so at most, but this is purely speculation on my part. I think that Hobbit sets will continue to come out with the movies, but I don't see LoTR lasting any longer than the third movie (2014)

    I would have to disagree. Kids have favorite characters or they want to create a scene with the characters. They are not looking to make an army of orcs, they want to have the one orc so they can fight it with Aragorn, or they want to have Frodo go up against Gollum. You also have to consider that most kids aren't buying multiples of sets and many parents aren't going to see the point in buying multiples of the same set ("you already have that set, let's get you this new one") Edit: Yeah, like Weil said.

    I'm not saying that it wouldn't make sense from an AFOL's perspective (I would love to see BPs, and would pick up many of them), I'm saying that it does not make sense from Lego's perspective. Star Wars BPS have mass appeal because they appeal to little kids as well as adults - and CW is driving the BPs as well. While AFOLs would pick up LoTR BPs, why would kids want a box of orcs or a box or nameless Rohirim? They want Frodo and Gandalf and all the named characters. I think TLG would need more mass appeal to make BPs feasible.

    It doesn't make sense for Lego to release battle packs for almost anything but Star Wars. While there are AFOLs out there that want to army build, few other people really do. There isn't a cartoon that would drive battle pack sets like the CW and releasing BPs would detract from the purchase of larger sets, as mentioned above. It doesn't look like we're going to have the whole fellowship released in the summer wave, and the only way to get the fellowship is to buy 4 of the 6 existing sets from the 2012 wave. AFOLs are buying the orc forge and the Uruk-hai army in droves, so it is obviously working out for TLG. I just don't see any army packs coming for LoTR or the Hobbit unless the line lasts for years.

    I think it's really hard to tell with such low-rez pics. The King's Castle definitely has potential, I just hope they haven't reverted back to stupid King Leo and his lamest of standards - the Lion face.

    Thanks for the great review! I knew there had to be at least one female hawk since Crooley is the female Croc. I will be picking this up for the figures, but there are some nice pieces in the set, and the build itself is decent. Can't wait to pick this one up!

    Thanks for the awesome review with the detailed pictures! I have been eagerly awaiting the Chima sets, and the wolf and hawk figures in particular. The vehicle is not particularly impressive, but the figures more than make up for it! I agree that the blue orb detracts a little from the utility of the torso, but I can work with it in my castle theme, and there will be some use for those wolf heads in Star Wars (Bothans anyone?) I can hardly wait until my Lego store releases this on the first!

    I have been scouring the stores around me (TRU, Target, K-Mart, Shopko) and the Lego store is the only place that's had them. I'm thinking TRU will have them the on the 1st.

    Rereleasing yet another A-Wing doesn't make sense. Thankfully the Battle of Hoth set was released, so there are 2 sets I want this wave instead of just 1. (and summer looks to be just as disappointing . Star Wars will not be the drain on my wallet that it used to be this year since it's all prequel, CW and rereleases.) I've seen everything except the BARC, Umbaran and planet sets in Milwaukee, but it's really hit or miss.

    Looks like we're firing on all cylinders again with DC and BB back! Legonardo - that is a beautiful map! I don't envy the amount of time you had to put into it - I tried my hand at it, and failed miserably. We haven't been seeing many title builds for Avalonia lately. I keep putting mine off, but I'm going to have to get going so I can finish up most of them before Challenge VI ends. Anyone else going to be completing any of these? I know some of you have most of them completed already.

    I thought I could get away with using the Weasley hair in the back, but Noooo - Someone has to go and point it out. It was the only other earth orange hairpiece I had (I think that's the correct color) 2 Maidens, 2 fortune tellers and 2 starlets per box.

    CMF Series 9 came out on Monday, but only at the Lego store. I have made the rounds at the three TRUs in my area twice this week, and saw 2 Chima sets once, but no series 9, so I might not bother looking yet unless it's at a Lego store. I used the feel method (find the skirt, then find trophy, 1x2tile or bow/shield and you're set) and thought I only had 2, but someone else gave me 2 roman emperors, which turned out to be 2 more forest maidens. There are only 2 per box, but it's pretty quick once you get it down.

    The Oak Maidens patrol the edges of the civilized lands of Avalonia, driving off poachers that would hunt the wildlife, and fending off the larger predators that wander from the deep woods. Just wanted to build a little vignette for my Forest Maidens. Nothing special.
