  1. Hi everyone, Here is my entry for the Expand the Winter Village Contest V - the Christmas frozen fountain : A lovely place for Santa and Gingerbread Man to practice ice-skating Below the details of the different elements - I tried to keep the spirit of official winter sets : Yeti feeding his cat : Holiday elves riding a sledge driven by the fastest penguins of the North pole : And of course the fountain : Hope you'll like it. Comments and remarks are welcome
  2. Hi everybody! I want to present you a little scene I build for the Brickset Festive Building Competition. ~ Rudolf stood still on the wide wintry fields. ~ The frozen grass sparkled blue in the dim morning light. ~ Today was the day. Santa's sleigh was already outside ~ and soon the gifts would be loaded. ~ Then finally! He would be able to fly! ~ For the first time - out in the cold windy sky. I hope you all like it! -Skalldyr
  3. My Entry for the "Winter Village" Contest. For my entry I decided to create a Holiday Cafe Moc for Santa's Village. People come from all around the world to experience the great tasting Coffees and Hot Chocolates from Santa's Village. More pictures will be available on my MocPages account; http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/101914 and my Flickr account; https://www.flickr.com/photos/120920417@N06/ I hope you guys enjoy this, please leave a comment, Thanks :) Sorry, but I'm not sure how big the photos actually are, if this is a violation of the "Winter Village" rules please let me know and also please tell me how to identify how big a photo is.
  4. “In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone went to their own town to register.” Lukas 2,1-3 "So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them." Luk 2, 3-7 “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi1 from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “ ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’2” Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.” After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.” Matthew 2, 1-12
  5. Merry Christmas, everyone! Over the years I have found a lot of inspiration here at Eurobricks so I thought I'd give just a little bit back by sharing photos of the Winter Village / Christmas display I have made together with my two boys this December. It consists of all the official Winter Village sets and a slightly modified version of the train from 79111 - Constitution Train Chase. Plus a few extra details here and there...! Lighting done with LifeLites. More pictures are available at Flickr.
  6. Hello everyone. I haven't posted anything in quite a while so I thought I would share my layout I put under my tree this year. (and I hope I am doing the pictures correctly) I put a LEGO train under the Christmas tree every year, but the last couple of years have been pretty basic. Just some track to run a train and that is all. This year I wanted to get back to making more of a layout and I mostly suceeded. I was just a little too ambitious for the time that I had to spend on it. It looks like a ghost town because it never got detailed. For the photos, I had to add the trees, plants, lights and anything that could easily be removed to the layout. I made the scenery as strong as I could to withstand my 14 month old and my 2 year old (who is almost 3 actually). What I didn't anticipate was the 2 year old taking it apart and then the 14 month year old trying to eat everything. So anything loose had to go. It was walked on and crawled on with very little damage so that goal was reached... There are no trains in the pictures because, honestly, I forgot to put it on there while I took the pictures. Nothing special though, I made a quick simple train that could withstand the kids. It didn't, but it was easy to reassemble. The transition between the snow and the grass is not as good as it was originally. If you look there are some chunks missing in the back. I also built everything to face the other direction, but when I went to set it all up, I ended up having to reverse everything. Luckily it is LEGO so I could change it, but it didn't end up as nice as it was due to the time that I had to change it. I had some nice lines with the banks of snow and grass that I really liked. I will post some WIP shots that show it. The building is old (around 10yrs old) that I had sitting around in a box from my COLTC days. I needed something sturdy and didn't time to build a new one. At one point the 14 month old climbed on the building and was sitting on it...luckily the roof didn't collapse! I probably spent the most time on the 2 curves and I am really happy how they came out although I think that they would look a whole lot better with bigger radius curves!! Overall I am pretty happy with how it came out, it is just not as finished as I would have liked. Enjoy, John

  8. Last Christmas, I gave you my heart... by SPARKART!, on Flickr: I've been seeing a lot of automobiles around town sporting the Rudolph get-up with red nose and antlers, and thought ye olde Furst Batmobile Microfighter could do that, too. This scene depicts an earlier time in the bittersweet romance between LEGO Batman and Wyldstyle. The song playing on the Bat-radio is Last Christmas; Batman gives Wyldstyle a knowing wink when the refrain, "I'll give it to someone SPECIAL," is sung.
  9. This is my entry for the "Expand the Winter Village" competition. It is also my first post. Here is a link to the photo including Santa's North Pole set and the Elf's House set : http://i1167.photobu...zps328b9d73.jpg I have created a house for the elves, I wanted it to blend with Santa's North Pole set so I built it similarly. I felt penguins were necessary as was the postbox for the mail to arrive. A better view of the chimney. Finally an inside shot.
  10. It's a train, for a village, in the winter, or other scenic season. In case you don't visit the Train Tech forum, I'd like to announce this complementary themed train set for which I'd greatly appreciate your support vote over at LEGO IDEAS. Christmas!

So Christmas is next month, but it's quickly approaching. I'm already seeing decorations and such all over the place. It just makes me excited! So who else is excited?
  12. Hi everyone! It's that time of year again when kids big and small wake up each morning to open a little door and find a little surprise behind it! For Lego lovers, it's especially great since they have three different advent calendars to choose from. But unfortunately, despite the theme's growing popularity, Super Heroes is not one of them. And so, I decided to make my own Super Heroes advent calendar this year! For now, I chose to focus on the DC Comics subtheme, and if it turns out well, maybe I'll do Marvel next year. Every day from now until Christmas, I will post a little MOC in this thread that I would want/expect to see in an official DC Comics Super Heroes advent calendar, most of which will be made in LDD. Please note that these will be based on the DC Super Heroes sets that have been released so far, so don't be surprised if they will be very Batman-centric. With that said, here's the build for Day 1, a micro Batmobile, based on the Animated Series version! DCSAC Day 1: Batmobile by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Here is the lxf file: Batmobile.lxf I hope you like it. Comments and criticisms welcome. Happy Holidays!
  13. Hello EB Members! On the 4th of November 2014 I began construction of our LEGO Winter Village Christmas display. 8 days and 7 late late nights (2am/3am) later I have finished!. This has been my biggest MOC to date. Not that I have done many... This is my 2nd major MOC, but I have done about 7 small little 16x16 baseplate sized ones. The size of this display is Three 48 x 48 and One 32 x 32 baseplates wide and Two 48 x 48 baseplate deep. (1410mm W X 770mm D) It's lowest point sits on the actual baseplate, and at it's highest point it stands at about 34 bricks high! (330mm H) The whole thing is modularized and each building is easily detectible like a floor level on a "modular building". Throughout the build I have added in some things for the kids to look for like a Where's Wally/Waldo. They have to find: 8 x Elves 5 x Reindeer 4 x fire hydrants 3 x Owls Find everyone that is doing a sport ie: snow baseball, Ice hockey etc.. Everyday I move Bad Santa around and the Kids have to spot him in his new location. (since taking these Photo's the kids also have to find 6 toy Soldiers, the very same ones in the October bonus S@H set) The carousel works with power functions and the motor is hidden in the "shed" and the battery pack is underneath the shed in the underbelly of the foundations. Below are a few Photos of the display... You can view more photos in myFlickR Folder here. Thank you for taking the time to look. C & C are most welcome!
  14. Hi everyone, I guess Black Friday is a good day to show you this digital creation. It is a small Christmas Market with some stalls and happy costumers.I hope you'll like it. And an extra picture: I tried to make a more detailed Santa as the official one. (I didn't want to open a topic just for this one picture)
  15. Hello everyone! I just found out about this group via the Facebook page. When I came over I saw the 5th LDD RCB and that it was a Western town theme. I was immediately interested in knowing what else this group did. I am following now following that thread and looking forward to seeing the final product. I started playing with LEGOs when I was about 5. I have always loved horses so my earliest sets all contained at least one horse. I had used the LDD 4-6 times over the past 8 years, but this site has inspired me to get back into using it. My favorite themes are Western, Medieval (particularly Robin Hood era), and Imperials (particularly modified to the American Revolution.) Last year, I also started building a Christmas village using a combination of the winter village sets and my own creations. I am presently going to college for my Master's and working full time so I stay too busy. However, I do enjoy playing PC games or building LEGOs when I have time. Most of my creations are MODs or small MOCs that are added to existing sets to fill them out. I will work on getting some pictures up of things I have done. I look forward to learning new techniques and getting new ideas from this group.
  16. Hello everyone, This is my entry in the Expand the Winter Village contest. This is also the first real contest I have entered on EB or anywhere in the LEGO world. I am not generally a Winter Village collector (being from Australia our Christmas is in Summer!) but I have been inspired by many of the great entries so far and decided to give it a crack So I did some research into Winter Village Markets to get more inspiration and came across the German tradition of the Christmas Pyramid. Having never been to Germany around this time of year, I am going solely on photos I have seen online in my research, so please forgive any errors in my portrayal of what looks to be a fantastic tradition for young and old to enjoy! Without further a due!! What Winter Village Market is complete without its Christmas Pyramid!? ^Onlookers are wowed by its romance and beauty! ^ Young and old gather in the Winter Market to watch the figurines spin around the pyramid! ^ The holiday season and the Christmas Pyramid alike reignites the romance in everyone's lives! ^ The graceful red fans spin around from the heat of the candles in the cold air. ^ And just to make sure, it all fits on 16 x 16 studs (with no more than a stud width outside, as per the rules ), including the PF kit. Speaking of which, I have uploaded a short which I would love for you to watch and see the Christmas Pyramid in action!!There are also some more shots on my flickr photostream. I had a great time researching, designing and building this. Thanks for looking, good luck to all and Merry Christmas to all
  17. Each year the Winter Village expands, and I've decided to take some shots of it this year. So here you are: You may remember my entry in the 2012 Winter Village contest, which is still together and one of the centerpieces in my layout. A little flocking gives the illusion of a snow-covered ground. The whole shebang. Apologies for the substandard photography. I was going to hold off on the Winter Village Market set, but the VIP deal with triple points and the free truck broke me on that one last week. The skating rink is now direcly in front of the bakery. This is a holdover from the modular winter village layour I put together last year, but quickly decided that I had outgrown it. A Buffer stop in front of the post office. A simple little design that took me 5 minutes to conjure up. And as a bonus, you can see videos of the train in action on .Happy Holidays!
  18. Happy Holidays! Part Christmas special, part mockumentary about my creative process; this is what happens when your original idea for a brickfilm goes nowhere and you have too many Ninjago sets lying around the house. Enjoy!
  19. In 2011 we got Yoda as Santa, then in 2012 Darth Maulin, 2013 Jango Fett as Santa and now Darth Vader is the new Santa. So i like to know of who you guys think is going to be the next Santa in the Star Wars Advent Calendar. For me, i like to see Jek-14 or Captain Rex as the next Santa.
  20. Hi there! I want to introduce my first Christmas MOC, which was made special for "New Year Contest" in our Russian Lego community. My MOC took only 4th place (only two votes and it can took 3rd), but there was many strong competitors. This is illustration of a typical contrast between two kids from families with big difference of the level of wealth (and their demeanor). Alena is a obedient, kind and careful girl. She is from poor family, it so happened that she has only her grandfather. Their flat is not in good condition, and Alena do not get expensive gifts, but she is not discouraged and rejoices in small things. Jana is very harmful, selfish and used to getting everything she wants. She is from prosperous family and lives with her parents in luxurious flat. Every Christmas and B Day Jana is accustomed to get super presents just because she is a doughter of rich parents. Alena was a very good girl whole year and she wrote the letter to Santa, in which she asked about her main dream - the puppy. And what do You think? Santa Claus has got her letter, came into her flat in Christmas Eve and gave to Alena her present - a little puppy, which immediately was named Foxy (Alena has long been thought up a name for her dream). Now this is the best Christmas for Alena. Yana was a naughty girl all year and when she heard about the new iPhone, she asked her parents to buy it to her, because she did not believe in Santa. Unfortunately, Jana's father did not got a Christmas bonus in this year and he had to buy a gift for less money. Jana got HTC smartphone instead of gold iPhone 5s. Jana's Christmas is ruined. Happy Alena with her grandfather and Santa. Dissatisfied Jana and her parents. The moral of this story is in on the surface and I hope I do not need to explain anything :) Thanks for watching! The whole set is here
  21. Here is something I built for the MCP Program, using exclusively parts from set 31313: This is Santa Claus' sleigh, pulled by his faithful reindeer Rudolph! Rudolph pulls the sleigh by using the same leg mechanism I came up with for : a simplified version of the Klann linkage. Besides the large motor for walking, there's another one for (very roughly) adjust the angle between Rudolph and the sleigh to allow for curves, and a medium one for making Santa wave his arm.Of course, Rudolph has to have a red nose! The colour sensor, set for reflection mode, gives the nice redness. Like with , I made a point of using the infrared sensor "upside down" for Santa's eyes, to avoid the "aggressive" look given by the lines printed on the sensor. I tried to have the EV3 prominently displayed, with its side ports for USB and SD unobstructed, and reserved space for the rechargeable battery.I really like how the robot turned out to look: it was fun trying to make the most of the 31313's relatively limited assortment of parts (for example, some dampers for Rudolph's hooves would be most welcome). On the other hand, I really wasn't able to make it work well: with an EV3 loaded with batteries, a large motor, a medium motor, and assorted parts, the sleigh got really heavy for Rudolph to pull, even with wheels underneath. Also, the steering is just too abrupt for direct remote control, and I couldn't find a way to gear it down while using the available parts and still look cool. Here is the video of it in motion. And here are some more pictures. If you want to see any detail or other angles, just ask. I hope you like it!
  22. Happy New Year EB folks!!! I hope everyone had a good break over the holidays and got all the Lego they wanted from Santa! After entering my first proper MOC creation for the 'Extend the WInter Market' Contest (see - http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=89673) I decided to continue building around it to form a Winter Scene for over the holidays. I am always inspired by the work done by all the EB members on here, and with all the really kind comments on my competition entry, I thought it was about time I gave something back. So I present to you....'Preparing for Christmas'. Its a few days before the local Christmas party and preparations are in full swing. As the ice sculpting approaches it conclusion, Santa arrives with his crack squad of holiday elves to add the finishing touches to the tree. First a quick overall view of the scene. The obligatory top down view The organiser of the festivities, Father Fitzbrickle, waves a hello to a local helping to clear the snow from the church grounds. Inside the church it warming up in preparation for the midnight service and carol singing. A sneaky peek inside the church. A local "myth" sits down to enjoy his own Christmas treat. The delivery from Santa has been left for unloading (the local station marked by a vintage flag from its past) The elves working hard to ensure everything is delivered , with a wee helping hand from some locals. The village square is beginning to fill up with all sorts of Holiday nonsense The nativity scene and ice sculpting is the backdrop to old McTavish's version of 'Silent Night' on his bagpipes! The local constabulary struggles to control his police dog as a local cat gets a wee bit too curious of all the presents! Thanks for having a gander at this creation, I hope you enjoyed it. As always, Comments & Critiques definitely welcome...so please let me know what you guys think!
  23. Here's my addition for the Winter Village Market... a holiday-themed miniature golf course. (A favorite mini-figure past time) This miniature golf course is extra-mini! Just three holes! The first hole requires some careful angling around a couple of presents. For the second, shoot for a hole-in-one through the base of the Christmas tree. And the last hole aim for the door of the gingerbread house at the top of the ramp. Thanks for looking!
