Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Congratulations Kai! Beautiful little carriage. Congratulations SSchmidt! Wonderful news! I am rather inactive at the moment, awaiting a baby in a few weeks and not building. I might get something together soon, but I am unusually low on inspiration right now. Still haven't picked a guild for book 2.... I was thinking of Xxxxxxxxx but it seems my beloved Kali might be a worthier cause. -
Brilliant idea! Great MOC too

I would suggest from a strategic perspective to accept their claim as far as the bottom of the Great Escarpment, but not the highlands as the fortress town has already been claimed by Da Maximus.
-
So the new city falls within Orcish teriitory? We want to hear Da Maximus' view on this. The PGTC is a great fan of orcs and all other races but we do note the strategic significance of the Orcish claim. Beautiful trees!

Excellent advice from Faefrost, please do take it seriously as it will improve your chances. In answer to the question of a few pages back, the projects I like most are the Roman and Babylonian ones but I think Rome and Sparta are more viable commercially.

I took my son to the Hong Kong Railway Museum last weekend and he loved it. It has 2 locomotives, so it's not very big, but it's a very beautiful place with a nice old station and lovely trees.

My 3 year old son is happy to have the minidolls and minifigs play together too. I have no issue with it really, although I can understand why others do. I am looking forward to this line (daughter due in November). I am not really familiar with the Princess umbrella franchise but I expect the girls will be the hero characters of the sets. I hope the line will continue the good colour and parts selection we get in Friends sets. I would really love to see a Princess Jasmine castle in future, Aladdin had fabulous art and backdrops. And I want Mulan buildings and armour too! Having said that, the inital setlist doesn't fill me with inspiration, apart from the Little Mermaid ones which will probably have cool parts like the Harry Potter underwater rescue set.

Really nice studless classic feel here. Lovely build with great character.

Supergirl. SO much better than Man of Steel. Fantastic special effects and a rather moving story in parts. Top-notch cast too, although both Peter Cook and Peter O'Toole are underused. Nearly as good as Superman 3. I would love to see a Supergirl DC Superheroes set. Helen Slater and Peter O'Toole vs Fay Dunaway and Peter Cook. That would be awesome.

Brickflick: Bestia – based on true events
robuko replied to France_et_Alex's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
This is phenomenal. What a terrifying story! Beautifully made, your camera techniques are superb. I loved the lighting, and the effects. The scene that goes through all the seasons was especially good, but the whole thing is well worth watching. I can tell it was a labour of love. Outstanding, -
The PGTC is honoured to receive the gift of the freedom of Stone Town, but we must admit it is not somewhere our Artists have yet depicted - We believe Basiliscus had that honour? Either Qarkyr or Lost Vega might be a better choice, as we have had the honour of showing life in those cities. Lost Vega might be better, as it has a higher revenue. Ultimately, the PGTC has no territorial affiliation beyond Kaliphlin itself, we have outposts in all significant towns and cities.

Man of Steel - I did not enjoy, the beginning was good but then there was too much boring fighting which just went on forever and ever. Straight to the bottom of the Superman rakings (Superman 3, Superman, Superman 2, Superman Returns, Superman 4, Man of Steel) The Maltese Falcon - absolutely brilliant detective tale of double and triple cross. Looks like a stage play. Excellent acting from nearly all the leads, Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre steal the show. UHF (which was a recommendation from this forum) I enjoyed very much. Very funny. Michael Richards was fantastic as Stanley Spadowski. Remade as the new muppet movie, it seems. On a recent horror kick World War Z - my first ever zombie movie. Not impressed, the second half of the film looked like a 1970s Doctor Who Episode. Why didn't they just wait for the zombies to starve or die of thirst? Meh. Shaun of the Dead - much scarier and better made than WWZ. Excellent until the end, which was a pretty lame deus ex machina. Scooby Doo Monsters Unleashed - really enjoyable. The effects were superb, the cast were great, the settings imaginative. I guess it bombed because this cast didn't get another movie, but I liked it.

Sir James, wonderful to have you join us. A big welcome to you and to your legendary sword. Have a pitcher of mead with us and tell us more of your tale. You are welcome to establish a city in a location of your choice and you are also welcome to build in any of the Free Cities (Petraea, Qarkyr, Ras-al Akhen etc) if you wish. -

Why are you posting this in the Avalonia topic rather than general? It's almost like you think Antyrian affairs belong in Avalonia  -

Of course, as long as you take your bricks to college! I'm very excited about the direction of Masa's story build too. Intriguing goings on to our North West. Is this part of the game/lead up to book 2? Looks like the price of oil will be spiking again so we are happy to pile up inventories here. -
Great build, and hilarious story too! The posing of the statue is excellent

The same Zakon GoldBlade who keeps children in lakes of blood in his dungeon, and who cut off oil supplies from Kaliphlin to Avalonia during their hour of greatest need in the Revolword war? He was certainly very good for a certain type of entrepreneurial trader.... It would be very exciting to have such a talented builder in Kaliphlin, your Kaliphlin build in Challenge VI was outstanding. The current laissez-faire leadership had gone down very well here and somehow I'm not sure that would be Zakon's style. You are welcome to stand for leader, but it might require some unbelievably large bribes to secure the votes. -
The battering ram with shields looks like a vote-winner to me. I agree with the commentators who suggested you need one focus project to concentrate the votes, and this could be it. Love your work here.
