This is really superb. So many great techniques, and it looks wonderful! Is the circle of roof cones mounted in a dish?

I would have loved a John Carter line. I liked the film, and we could have had some great monster moulds.

On the gender separation of Lego discussion, my view is that it's probably a good thing. Girls and their parents are unlikely to shop the blue aisle, so putting them in the pink aisle =higher unit sales, which means TLG can justify new moulds and colours. That's a good thing. Lego does not control the way retailers arrange their stores, or the way that people shop. I can understand why male AFOLs disagree with it and why there are social construct of gender type objections, but I am just happy we get these nice new parts, and some of that is realistically because they are in the pink aisle. To anyone who is shy about buying girl sets, don't be. Families have younger sisters, neices etc to buy presents for. Shop staff don't care and are not judging you. Mostly.... Back on topic, the Disney Princess sets seem unreasonably expensive to me in HK compared to other sets, and so I haven't bought any yet. Are they bad value for money in other countries?

That sail is sweet! Great build

Lovely build, it really does look like a home appliance. I love all the vents. How sad that north Asian 20th century history is doomed to repeat in the 22nd!

This is your first MOC? Wow! I'm looking forward to see what you come up with later! I love the modular construction and the level of detail you have put in. The bridge is especially good, and the minifig expressions are really funny. Great photography too. Lovely build!

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
All this trash talking is very macho blah blah but surely you can see the Kaliphlin/Mitgardia pirate stuff is a massive red herring designed to divide & conquer. If Avalonia falls you will by surrounded by Drow and they will kill your men and take liberties with your ladies' beards. Alliance with Kaliphlin is your best option (and our best option) right now. Build your fine navy but get ready to send it to Avalonia, where it's needed. -
I like this a lot. The shape is very imposing, the colours are great, and the use of the black telescopes to suggest negative space is fantastic. A few things to think about for next time- if the escarpment face is so dark, how is the ground on top of it such an abruptly different colour? Are you happy with the masonry profile bricks at this scale, and used in irregular way at this scale? Very nice build, and a great first micro!

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hello Northy chums, I am sure you have all noticed that evil bad people things have taken Nocturnus and Have taken quite a chunk of Avalonia. This incursion if it's successful would cut off Mitgardia and Kaliphlin. Meanwhile some hotheads are stirring up bad feeling between Mitgardia and Kaliphlin. This is a divide and conquer strategy. If we let it happen, we are likely to get whipped too. So I extend the hand of friendship to Mitgardia once again. Let us put our differences aside for now and focus on our common foe. By all means make awesome ships for the challenge, but we must come to the aid of our Avalonian friends and work together from now. (I bet this post assigns me to the Spire  ) -
RESULTS INCLUDED: Book II- Challenge 1- The Battle for Nocturnus.

Congratulations to the winners! -
The creator sets are very good for parts to start making your own models. I think what you are doing is a good start. The next step might be to mix 2 of the sets together in one tin and see what new possibilities open up for you. Happy building!

Woooah Jared, that's superb! I love the minifig spoiler handles and that bat logo is How fragile is the build?
-
These are great, I love the arm patch! Can I ask, how did you do it? I am always so impressed when someone makes digital minifigs but I haven't a clue how it's done.

^ Great build infernum! Are there any size limits? I am working on a little boat at the moment but I fear there will be some monstrous big ships out there. So is Nocturnus exempt from the historical accuracy thing? I had an awful dream last night about a war in Historica. Kaliphlin won but nearly everybody died, it was horrible.

This is a wonderful re-creation of a wonderful set. The SNOT build looks great. That control station would be really nice if it was extended to a full circle. I especially like the shuttle, which is a very nice remake with modern parts. Great build

Love this, such a great idea. The white backdrop is a little confusing, I guess you didn't have any blue? Lots to like here, the birds really stand out.

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Well doesn't it have to be the bad guys so that we can have more chapters? We know the Drow made it across our through the mountains to Avalonia.... -
This is great kingregus! Have you thought of joining Kaliphlin in the Guilds of Historica? This type of build would fit perfectly! I really like the details you have put in with the library and the market stands. Lovely build!

What's with all these Verhoeven remakes at the moment? Last year we had Total Recall, now Robocop, and Ender's Game is like Starship Troopers remade. Total Recall (1990) Philip K. Dick story adapted by Verhoeven. Very very violent but good fun. Arnie was great and Sharon Stone delivered. The special effects are fun, the film's ending a bit weak. 6/10 Ender's Game - Very nicely made, good story, some great moments. Very similar to Starship Troopers but with younger kids and much less gory. 6/10 In Time - A social conscience sci-fi film like Elysium. The premise here is that poor people are always on the edge of dying because they don't have enough money. Which is more-or-less true. Good story, well directed. Great cars! 8/10 Silver Lining Playbook - predictable storyline but utterly brilliant acting. I was fascinated and absorbed by the fabulous performances all round. Bradley Cooper in my view should have got the best actor award (The Oscar went to Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln, who was also good), Robert de Niro was outstanding too, Jennifer Lawrence pretty good (and she did get an Oscar). 7/10 Limitless - nice concept film (smart drugs make you smart), quite original direction and Bradley Cooper was very good. I couldn't work out if it was a commentary on cocaine or amphetamines. 6/10 Time travel movie round-up Looper - slick, but I think deeply flawed by stupid plot holes (or so clever I just couldn't get it). Almost entirely ridiculous. 3/10 About time - typical Richard Curtis romcom with a heartwarming message. 7/10 Happy Accidents - great acting by d'Onofrio and Marisa Tomei, keeps you guessing. 8/10 Safety not Guaranteed - I quite liked it when I saw it, but it wasn't that good, in retrospect. The script has very funny moments, Aubrey Plaza delivers, but the plot is flabby. The story is pretty much the same as Happy Accidents , which was much better. 5.5/10 Primer - Breathtakingly audacious and ambitious. Totally brilliant, and shot for $7000. 10/10

This is a great build. It's a great concept and beautifully integrated, it's hard to believe you integrated your builds so well on style and colour. It must have been very hard to coordinate, you have done a superb job. It looks like a really fun playset too.

Beautiful job Gideon! The tree, the water and the snow are all superb. The under water is a great touch. +1 all UoP.

Welcome Raskolnikov. Great to see this neglected theme getting some love!

I love love love the sand blue and tan and the gold trim. Beautiful builds, both of you!
