  1. It's true because sand is awesome! It gives us our beautiful honey coloured sandstone houses, the glass window export trade, mirrors, the heliographic information advantage signaling network, and the super advanced fibre optic backbone thing that we don't tell the other guilds about.... Welcome to Kaliphlin RBC, delighted to see you here!
  2. Welcome to Eurobricks, I hope you have a long and happy stay here!
  3. Wow, looking forward to these megabuilds! Looking great so far narbilu.
  4. I really enjoyed this. The story is excellent, and the minifig posing and photography stand out. I like the fighting ring, it looks excellent. Great build.
  5. ...er., you mean...exactly like we did....? Not only that, but the whole Kaliphlin economy has been mobilised to deliver humanitarian supplies to Mitgardia ever since the Thorshaven incident. And this is how you repay us!
  6. I think you are referring to the Thorshaven incident which appears to have been staged by Mitgardian 5th columnists with the sole purpose of stimulating the boatyards of Historica . That's fine, the PGTC is very long timber and hemp right now. This senseless massacre is something much more sinister and terrible.
  7. Good luck Kayne, sorry to hear your news. Sounds excruciating
  8. I think the Sultan's Gate is the only freebuild thing I built in Q1. It was for the Sultan's Gate Challenge so I'm not sure if that counts as a free build or not. My other builds were for the Challenge 1A and 1B.
  9. Wow, that was just nasty. We may have to refit our fleet. Actually I have a ship lying around 3/4 finished that was due to deliver oil to Mitgardia, now I guess it will deliver burning oil to the Loki and the Grogslaughter.
  10. The Black Squadron must be brought to justice immediately! The sea elves are innocent traders and fishers. This incident cannot go unchallenged. Look how quickly Steen Larsson jumps to disown the murderers flying his flag -almost as if he had advance notice of what evil was in their hearts. Very nice minifig posing and I love the colours on the Loki. Great story too, very tragic.
  11. Nice, love the pink touches! Some wonderful parts use and detailing here. The cockpit looks rather vulnerable though. What helmet is that please?
  12. Watching a lot of movies at the moment. I have a new rating system. If it's over 5/10 I would watch again and if it's under 5 I wouldn't. If it's 5, I might. The Lego Movie - very proud of my son for sitting all the way through it even though he wanted to go home after an hour. We came home and he decided to smash a diorama I was about to photograph - what can you say after that film... the one thing that stands out is that the son's MOCs were about 100x better than the dad's. 8/10 Robocop (1990) - A Jesus/Frankenstein mash-up. Very Verhoevenesque staging. 8/10 Groundhog Day - True story - I fell asleep watching Groundhog Day and when I woke up I was still watching Groundhog Day and then I fell asleep and when I woke up again I was still watching Groundhog Day. Fantastic film. The best film about Buddhism ever made? 10/10 Caddyshack - a series of skits, like Mad magazine. Bill Murray was excellent, I'm guessing he ad-libbed everything. Not sure why this was so popular. 5/10 Animal House - another series of skits. OK. Again not sure why this was so popular. 4/10 The Adventurers - The Curse of The Midas Box - enjoyable Steampunk gothic romp. Some terrible acting but overall fun. 6/10 Jason and the Argonauts - This is one of the best films ever made. Harryhausen rules. 9/10 The Pirates - Adventures with Scientists/Band of Misfits - Piratey claymation fun from Aardvark. 7/10 American Beauty - Superb performances and character development all round. The first time I saw this I thought it was all about Kevin Spacey, but Annette Benning might be even better. Having just quit my job after 17 years, I am now going to buy a Camaro. But not get shot. 9/10 Frozen - predictable but nicely made. Aimed at sentimental parents with multiple children including at least one girl, which is a great marketing premise. 6/10 Paprika - Entirely insane and brilliant manga. It's in your head! 9/10 S1m0ne - flimsy Hollywood meta. A one-premise film (CGI is quite good now). Great cameo from Winona Ryder, Pacino is only there for the money. 2/10 Your Highness - a bunch of mates having fun and Natalie Portman winding down from Black Swan. 6/10 Pineapple Express - Stoner comedy except I didn't think it was that funny. James Franco was good 3/10 This is the End - James Franco and Seth Rogen having fun with a big budget. Not funny. 2/10

    INFERNO

    Absolutely brilliant. Love it!
  15. Very funny! love Han's face
  16. There have been excellent licenced historical sets in recent years with PoTC, LoTR, Hobbit and Lone Ranger. My guess is that this simply saturates the target customer. I would love to see more variety too, but I think it will basically come from movie franchises for a while. I know those sets are more about the minifigs but they have been good for parts too (PoP). So let's hope next summer's big hit is Romans vs Vikings vs ninjas!..... Scurries off to write script for Jerry Bruckenheim....
  17. Very funny! Love this concept
  18. Truly one of the greats. RIP. I can think of no better tribute than to be made immortal in bricks. :angel_sing:
  19. I am 85% done on a ship carrying relief supplies to our Northern friends but I am traveling next week so I won't make the O2M deadline. Free build coming....
  20. I very much appreciate that you keep pushing yourself to innovate and try new things soccerkid. The angled walls look fabulous. Great texture too. +1 for roofing and roof rakes. Very nice build!
  21. This is a really nice idea and the land side looks great. Considering your brick palette it's great. I totally agree with Gideon on his points. Do you have any trans clear plates? They might give a nice sense of depth to the sea if used judiciously. Love the Crow!
  22. I really like this, it has a very realistic down town feel to it. The net canopy is superb and the colors look great. Nice entry!
  23. Very nice build and presentation here. Seems like a lot of rowing for not much revenue but labor is cheap. I would recommend you to think about photo editing software, your building skills deserve it.
  24. Beautiful minifig posing and photography Mikel. I love the humour in this set up. The Stern of the larger vessel is very Kali. Nice entry
