Nocturnus Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

"Tight-wearing, tree-hugging, elf-loving hippies who are squabbling over a porcelain throne", I think it was. And they are all welcome in Kaliphlin too. -

Wow, quite a lot going on up here lately. Welcome to the new members and congratulations on all the excellent MAC entries, you guys have a great freebuilding team. Now that the Guilds are being shaken around, The Petraea General Trading Company extends a warm welcome and invites you all to join Kaliphlin. We're rich and laid back and it's sunny all the time. -

Jareth, that is fantastic! Angeli may no longer be part of GoH, but he is still an incredible builder and a great guy. Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

The territorial p1ssing contest that didn't happen in Kaliphlin is one of the attractive things in our guild I think. The PGTC makes no territorial claims either, although we would be happy to sit on the council as a representative of commerce. The Mad Monks do claim their isle but they won't leave it to sit in council and frankly they're mad, so they wouldn't be much use. It appears we have some sort of accidental claim over Qarkyr but we will not dispute if anyone else wants to represent that fair city. The best bit of book II for me is the small size category for builds. The big builds are too intimidating and intensive to compete casually. I hope we will see you compete in the smaller size categories! I am sure building is a good way to come up with ideas for the college work. Oh and anyone who wants to transfer to Kaliphlin would be very welcome as far as I am concerned, even if they come with intentions of conquest - they will mellow out once they get here. If the proposed civil war comes to Kali, I will probably sit it out I guess. Conscientious objector. -

my feedback I really appreciate the effort the team has put into this and I think it will go well. For me though, I have almost no interest in a "permanent war" scenario, I feel there is enough of that in real life in too many places. Have we looked at LCC lately? I have not, but I think they are on the same lines as this idea and GoH might lose some differentiation. Please can we ensure that the challenges do not alienate people that don't want to build only battle scenes, I thought the "quest" challenges were good. I like Kaliphlin a lot and I don't want to leave, it is an excellent group - although I would love to build on a project level with the many builders from other guilds whom I admire a lot. I would certainly like to do more in Nocturnus so I'm happy it's there twice in the plan, I think my Nocturnus builds have been pretty fun. -
Woot! Awesome build, Gideon. Really nicely done and beautifully presented as always. Love the filling, funny how regular the cross section is.

REVIEW: 71002 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11
robuko replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for another excellent review, WhiteFang! I always appreciate the effort you put into these, and thakyou to Mrs Fang too (congratulations btw!) I would prefer to see more Tikis for sure. I like all this series, but I don't like the distribution. I think it's great that the Blacktron robot has a classic blaster.- 117 replies

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

Sweet build Masa! So, I forgot to vote in the Ch VI thing (It would have been for Kayne) and ZC won. His plot thing for us at the end is: Kalphlings- Dextrus Flagg has said even if the final accounting reveals Kalphlin to hold the most gold, he will lay no claim to the throne. Some believe he is no longer fit to rule. What’s more, a new power has sprung up in the desert, taking corporal form. While still weak from his awaking, the new King of the Desert (who many believe is a reincarnation of the High King) calls all Kalphlings feed up with Flagg’s leadership to drink the blood of the Desert Kings and claim their rightful place as Lords of Badlands. Will you remain loyal to Kalphlin’s government, or will you find new religion in the desert? Choose your side, Kalphlin, or the Desert Kings! So is this meant to be Pro-Flagg vs anti-Flagg conflict? We of the PGTC of course pay our fair share in taxes to the Flagg regime and receive first class physical and legal infrastructure in return. And if the Desert Kings become tired of drinking blood and need some old-fashioned water we will be very happy to supply their needs. Somehow I find it difficult to imagine our relaxed collaborative vibe descending into the shrill chaos and anarchy of our green-tighted chums, who let brother turn on brother. But let's see -

CBB invented the whole torture/lakes of blood persona for Zakon months ago so you have your work cut out here Rolli. Maybe it happened during the famous absence that disqualifies your candidacy  I would love to see you guys have a build-off for the honour of the porcelain throne of Albion. Who would have imagined all this drama in hippy pixieland? Avalonia is Nocturnus in tights right now. I love it! -

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
robuko replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I really think this set is an ethical revolution, the step to make the bad guys policemen can't have been taken lightly. I wonder if Lego was involved in the plot of the film, I guess they must have been. I have found it quite difficult to explain to my 3 year old son why the policemen are scary, it's a big jump from his understanding of Lego policemen.- 2,626 replies

This set looks awesome. I love Lucy. I get a space police vibe from this one, with the police cast as the bad guys for once . Is this a first for Lego? So much better than the Flash/Riddler set with similar idea and pricepoint!- 2,626 replies

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

Very good point Sam, I hadn't considered it. So apart from Thor, that would lend weight to the figures being based on game or comic sources. The good news is, that would open the choices up a lot! -

SDCC reveal guess - Is it about time for a new Green Goblin? The old versions are looking rather dated compared to the 3D printing we have now. I would guess the bulk of the figures this week will be movie based (Thor for sure, maybe ASM, CA Winter Soldier?) but I would really like to see some of the new game characters. I would love to see some X-Men future past figures but I have already been educated that it would be unlikely on license rights. The Wolverine opens next week - to a total absence of merchandise - so I guess nothing there. -

3 meditations on the excessive concentration of military power in secretive branches of the US political system- The A Team movie Olympus has Fallen GI Joe: Retribution The A Team was excellent, a huge positive surprise, although the cast could never match the original. GI Joe: Retribution was also very good, much much better than the first movie both in plot and staging. Olympus has Fallen was mawkish rubbish.

@Aanchir- You met Neil Gaiman?? That is seriously awesome. I have just been reading 2 books that I would certainly recommend to anyone in Asia. Gold Warriors by Seagrove and Seagrove, and Asian godfathers by Studwell. Also The transitionary by the late great Iain M Banks, for light relief. Every day we are reading Cars and Trucks and things that go. Richard Scarry at his genuis best.
