  1. Outstanding! It looks even better than I hoped. beautiful job
  2. I think it looks great. I had a similar issue with my latest Moc, which was harder to notice because it was monochrome. I have 320 light tan jumper plates just for this now
  3. These are all lovely. Where are the source buildings?
  4. Very nice pine tree technique. I thought the first photo was an LDD render, very nice photography. That house is going to flood so badly when it rains! The whole ground floor is underwater
  5. ^ I count rogueang for 6/6 challenges. Erynlasgalen and I are the Grand Knights of Kaliphlin! Quite a few guys signed up after Challenge 1 but participated in all the builds after that eg Masa of Kaliphlin, soccerkid, KaiNRG, Torgar (apologies to other I have missed).
  6. These are great! Very nice work on the engines especially.
  7. I pretty much agree with this. It was a very entertaining movie, but there were some issues with the storyline. I don't think it will stand up well to repeat viewings. In preparation, I had a Marvel marathon Captain America - a good old fashioned love story with an evil bad guy, and he's a Nazi. Thor - Initially unmemorable but gets better each time I watch it. Thor fights a bigger bad guy. And Wins. The Incredible Hulk - Hulk fights a Hulkier Hulk. And wins. Iron Man - Iron Man fights a bigger Iron Man. And wins. Iron Man 2 - Iron man and his friend fight a bigger Iron Man and his friends. And win. Better than I thought when I saw it in theatre. The Avengers - all the heroes fight each other and then they make friends and fight the bad guys from Transformers 3. And win. Hulk would have won on his own. Can anybody see a common theme here? Luckily the films all have very good casts, directing and visual effects.
  8. In one of my early draft plotlines, Victor was working for King Darconius. I couldn't really come up with motivation I liked sufficiently- to undermine the Guild Lords wasn't good enough, it would have to be very personal. I gave this up as I thought it's a bit too tropey.
  9. Thanks Soccerkid! King's College was quite a big departure for me, in that it is a realistic mediaeval building. Usually I put some fantasy twist in. This one was based on a couple of Oxford colleges (a different one for each wall) and came about because I was watching "Lewis" and reading "Wolf Hall". My first and only historical MOC! I was very happy especially with the triple window on top of the tower, which is a frame technique I haven't seen before. Thanks CBB! I was pretty happy with the colour palette especially for the Casino Royale build. I toned down the Avalonia lodge section on the left quite dramatically after I saw DC's latest dark isle build. Initially it was very bright like one of yours but it didn't fit in with the middle Kaliphlin section that well. Thanks Masa! I spent 70% of the time on that MOC on the beehive ceiling, and everyone looks at the floor  . I'm glad you liked it. Thanks de Gothia! It was very important to me that Victor should have some backstory and motivation, otherwise he's just a cartoon villain. Actually, it was kind of Ska's idea, when we were discussing his motivation in our thread, he said,"You mean the one where someone kicked his puppy really hard, and he vowed never to let someone kick his puppy every again?" and that really resonated with Victor's need for power and destruction. I was toying with the idea of an important death to him, which Kayne has done beautifully - but I thought there was already too much Anakin Skywalker reference without having to do that, so I went for the eternal love triangle with a twist. Thanks Damaximus! I was pretty happy with the story, I really wanted it to feel integrated into the existing canon and to give some explanation for our canon too. Thanks Jason! Thanks Ska! Yeah, it's funny how things go. Initially I planned to have 4 or 5 character arcs through from challenge 1 to challenge 6, but Frankenstein is the only one I really followed through on, and Daniel a bit- but Daniel was always just a secondary character. Frankenstein's move from geek to hero, as Achilles from hubris to nemesis, in resurrection from self-loathing to fulfillment, was just so much more interesting than what I had planned for the rest of the PGTC board. I think a few of you knew how it was going to end from my first challenge, but it's been fun getting him there. I liked the idea of ending where I began my GoH MOCs, in the lab of creation.
  10. Amazing series. Beautiful builds, all of them. I love your use of colour, like the green clothes and green shields. The circular frames are fantastic too. So many nice details.
  11. My apologies Lord B! Sometimes hard to see through all this snow.
  12. So, emerging from the blizzard I can see 25 entries, apologies if I have missed any Kaliphlin (8) KaiNRG, SkaForHire, robuko, Erynlasgalen, Kayne, DaMaximus, Masa of Kaliphlin, Gideon Avalonia (8) ZCerberus, MikeyB, Jason Cicchini, Captain BeerBeard, Legonardo, rogueang, de Gothia, Brickington Mitgardia (7) Soccerkid, Garmadon, Infernum, Ecclesiastes, Kabel, Torgar, Buurli_Burri Nocturnus (2) Dr Rod, Zilcho What a phenomenal achievement! Group hug, guys!
  13. Wow, how did I miss this? Last I saw, it was a floorplan! 3 excellent builds SK, definitely some of your best yet. Wonderful detailing, the waterfall is one of the best I've seen, the composition of the second build is fantastic. The modular interior is a brilliant idea and so nicely detailed. Well done! Congratulations on being blogged, you deserve it!
  14. mwaaaah ha ha ha haaaa! I really enjoyed this story. The battle scene is really well done, the figure posing makes it very alive. The fireballs and puff of smoke effects are very inventive. I like the third photo, looking up at the gate, it feels very ominous. Great entry!
  15. Excellent entry Kayne. The micro and the gatehouse are superb, I really like the volcanic eruption and the water in the moat. Brilliant use of the LEDs. The posing of the figures in Victor's death scene is superb. I really like the story too fitting into your character arc. I very nearly went down this route too, the resurrection stone gambit but I think it fits your characters much better than I could have done it.
  16. Great, you made it! I love the Valyrio build, your effort in collecting those plates was definitely worthwhile. The islands look great but my favourite detail is the golden snake on the gondola. This story is really funny, at least nobody gets hurt! Beautiful ship too.
  17. I love that third build, such a beautiful technique on the water, really makes it feel like it's flowing. The story is really good, with the element of mystery. Great entry.
  18. How did you get the angle for the building in the first shot? Is the doose a custom part? It's a really fun idea. I forgot to say, the use of dark and red brown is fantastic, and the woodpile is such a lovely detail.
  19. Lots to like here Mikey. My favourite detail is the way you have arranged the books on the shelves in the first build. Great siege scene, love the dragon dust effect on the wall and the falling orc. Many babies were made!
  20. Excellent. Love the merfolk. That black and red council chamber is great, I'm sure it's hard to photograph but it looks lovely. Glad you skimmed in under the wire. Hey, it's cool with no story, we can just make up our own. "Piertotum locomotor!"
  21. I really like your double-double-crossing ninja ending. Now I see why you needed 2 teams. It has a very Tarantino feel to it, not just the names but the violence. Cleaning up your pictures made a really big difference. And I love the chapter titles, very witty.
  22. I really like the wall in your first build, and the posing of the creeping wall-goblins is outstanding. Good to see the Kali and Nocturnus mages standing firm together at the end. The puff of smoke ending is very cool. Good entry.
  23. Oh man, you've so earned it! now the third build is up, I can say wow! You really surprised me with that video game ending! Very cool. Yes please! Your twisted lunatic blood-drinking emissaries are always welcome at the PGTC's oversaturated polychromatic guest houses!
