I second this, there is a huge need for really robust u-joints, especially for crawler-steerings, cardans, but actually in general. Are the u-joints on purpose weaker, as "predetermined breaking points" in the drivetrain to protect other - more expensive - parts? Also, related to the questions from others: is there a study or estimation what is the share of the market (Technic only here) in terms of: children, teenagers, adults/AFOLs? This might answer some above written ones.

Might be a good hint from Sticker album - also 30-40 euro price range is reasonable for it: -

It was a rethorical question. -
Hi @ndm1306 ! Doc seems unactive for a while here, maybe You should contact him via email (ebay), so there is a bigger chance to get the answers. Have a nice day!

42054 C-Model - Wheel Loader
agrof replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just checked the video, I am seriously impressed, great look, clever and well executed design (I especially like the cabin shape forming with CV joints - NPU!), also with instructions... actually is there a reason why it shouldn't be official B-model? Hat off M_Longer, professional work! -
Congratulations! I believe the prizes go to right places. I really enjoyed the build and the WIP topics, especially as it was my first contest. Thanks for the organization Jim and Milan!

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
agrof replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yesterday there were Ninjago leaks around (not any more), connected there could be found almost the whole upcoming catalog in well finished form. I can not share more than just informations, no picture. 42068: 79,99 Euro; upgradable with Power Functions (extinguishing control, spotlights); 45 cm long; first and third axles steered; 42069: 129,99 Euro; 44,6 cm long; no functions shown; 42070: 249,99 Euro; XX cm long; L4 engine; Vertical (raise-lower) + Horizontal (rotate) crane control; driving + steering; 1 XL motor - 1 M motor - 1 Receiver - 1 IR controller - 1 BB. Pretty much what we already know. I couldn't spot differences from Toy Fair models - oh, there is one, they are properly assembled. The catalog page still don't look finished in terms of descriptions for 42070, but the prices look final for me, at least all other themes and actual Technic sets are matching. There was no sign of a new supercar, looking at the page structure, there might be something coming yet, but most probably no. On the side note: quite lame to store all (!!!) the graphical files in open web folder... -
[MOC] Mini Claas Xerion
agrof replied to nick97's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Dang, this looks so tidy and accurate. Love it! I hope you will share the LDD file soon. -
Maybe I am naive, but considering discussions, opinions, also sharing a tool (which is not a weapon, and not mandatory to use) as calculative or unknowing influence in order to win, is a bit hard statement, especially on this forum. If somebody enters a contest here for winning, than maybe this is not the right place for him/her. For me it is a treasure chest of creativity, engineering, and sometimes art. I still see the fun side of the contest, I see only MOCers, no competitors. Okay, I am naive... or just not a competitive type of person (which is actually correct).

All the technical features, the engineering behind, the robustness, the look, packed together in this MOC, predestinate it to be part of the imaginary Lego Technic History book.

Great! Thank You and enjoy the show!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
agrof replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am not much into this series, but on the side note: the "mystery" character isn't up to the hype... Come on LEGO, where are the new moulded lupins??!!- 1,421 replies

That part was missing Erik. I am not worried, everyone votes as preferred, but as you admit, despite the well-thought voting strategy, you already had the unconscious preferences. Otherwise the scoring table wouldn't had to be corrected to feel it "right", which is a good thing, you still have emotions after all (same story here).

Counting higher quality pictures as negative? It is strange, I would say if you don't want to consider it in your decision, than leaving it completely away is more fair, rather than "compensate" others assumed votes. Overall: a good presentation does add to the MOC (also for everything), and if somebody makes effort to make it more enjoyable, than it is a thing to appretiate, and also helps to transmit the message and the value of the object of the presentation. I am not speaking about camera resolution, not speaking about proper hardware and pheriperials (lightroom, camera, computer), these are just matter of money. No vertical video, clean enviroment, some video editing, adjusted camera perspective for photos already show clearly, that somebody put energy into the project, independently of what tool was used. For me it is part of the fun and maybe seen in my description: part of a conscious decision. I don't want to argue about who and how judge, nor to convince anybody, but this part hit my eyes (in logic), sorry. Actually, here we are in the situation, that the bots are really able to "being" it. Lego bot vs Lego bot, they don't need to represent anything, as they actually can/could flip, push, hammer, throw, etc each other.

Muffinbrick's Technic Corner
agrof replied to muffinbrick's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I will find a way to solve the collision. There is always a way. Yes, probably the friction is too high then for the soft springs. Hard springs are worth to try, and also as You wrote: using axles instead. -

Thank You @muffinbrick for the LDD file! I quickly scanned it through, the only thing I can add is, that I would use 5.5L axles for the rear wheels, so the axles can not slide out: I couldn't resist to form it a bit how my build will probably look like - I will use my spare 62,4-er wheels. Waiting for the final version, I am in love with this "small" (570 pcs) buggy! -

Looks really well with the steering added. And the new version of the cockpit + steering wheel is just ingenious (just checked on Bricksafe). I am not fan of the color variants You made, I believe if there are no stripes, it will look better! Black -or DBG as it is now- top, mono color sides and belly would present the smooth shape maybe a bit better. I even like this version, just less yellow in the body, it reflects the racing feeling: Could You share the LDD file for it, or not planned yet? Definitely on my building list. -

That is damn sexy already! Can You make a picture with 62,4x20 wheels? I find 56-er proper here, just pure curiosity. -
[MOC] Manas
agrof replied to heyitsdisty's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Love every bit of it, great rewamp! I didn't knew Manas before, very interesting... lets see if there are cheap motor units around. Does anyone know, if the Manas motor can be controlled by current PF IR controller? -
Hi legoemma, maybe an online survey would be better platform for your research, than collecting the answers from comments. I am not familiar with how to create them, but I know they exist, just google for possibilities. Cheers!

There is the key: "what is left: bags and random parts". What You don't see, that these parts was carefully selected, built up in a specified order, to be able to get a good looking and "must-have" object, meanwhile delivering a flow in build. Believe or not: to achieve this, it requires manpower, creativity and lot of time. This is the spirit, and this is what being stolen. The Intellectual Property. Why don't they sell just bricks in buckets? Because people want to have the result, not just parts. This is the reason, why You see assembled models in the advertisements, and not part lists. Strange, right? Imagine, this is the situation for every, by human created stuff. Cars, phones, computers, everything. Just because it is not materialized, it is still there, and still a value, which on companies rely. If it is stolen, it is reason to be attacked on. Even worse, if a company steals from individuals (MOCers), who are much more naked and weaponless against them, as another mega company. People don't realize, and/or accept, that things just don't exist from themselves, and just don't pop-up on the shop's shelves. A living entity must be killed to be find it's piece (steak - yummi, right?) nicely packed in your fridge. You don't see it happening, but believe me, it is happening. Ripping of the brick design is already an old story, and actually no patent for it for years. The way you combine the parts is what makes the difference - see above mentioned. Megablocks, Oxford can create their own design, which means a healthy competition. Also don't forget: legality not equals morality. In an idealistic world, yes, there should be a strong relation, but we are all aware about the current situation worldwide. WE, people represent morality in the world, if the law doesn't act like, than we still can and should. Otherwise we are lost. Calming the conscience by covering it with inproper law (or worse: law, wich serves certain individual power interests) is a bad move, and destroys universal values, like respect, solidarity, empathy. Burns out the soul. Here in the forum, we are humans, a community, not lawyers. If you don't feel the difference, than continuing this discussion makes no sense.
