Hello Eurobrickers! I am finally ready to present another long overdue model I built last year: a VW Beetle Baja Bug. This one was built for the 2025 Buwizz camp's buggy race, which was held on a grass track with artificial wooden ramps to make the models jump. The rules stated the model had to have max 2 drive motors, and had to be an RWD buggy. I quickly settled on the idea of a Baja bug, because I find their looks pretty cool, and the bug shape seemed light weight with most of the heavy components in the back, which sounded like a good idea for jumping. Furthermore, I wanted to try building a trailing arm suspension using two Buwizz motors (which for me are the only meaningful way to use the buggy / Buwizz motors in an off-roader, due to their awful form factor). It took me quite a while to make a proper video of it, because I was using my phone both to drive and to shoot the video at the same time, and I had to develop an app that can do both simultaneously, and integrating video stabilization got more difficult than I expected, but finally got it working.. Anyway, let's see that obligatory performance video :) Features Independent front suspension with bug-like portal arms and positive caster angle Independent trailing arm rear suspension Rear wheel drive Complete interior with two seats As you can see, bug-style exterior :) The two key components I needed to develop was the trailing arms and the front portal arms. The rest sounded simple, the abdomen (rear section) seemed like a good place for the Buwizz unit, which left most of the center empty for seats and interior. Trailing arms For the trailing arms, using the output of the Buwizz motors is unfortunately not possible, as it does not provide enough torque for off-roading on grass with such a heavy model; it would shut down the Buwizz unit almost immediately. So I had to add gearing, which is challenging for two reasons: the tightness of the space, and because it is hard to mount stuff onto the motor in a solid way, so that the wheels don't fall off under extreme use. Furthermore, my first tests with 12:20 gearing (from the fast output) showed that it is just not enough; the Buwizz unit still kept shutting down, so I had to use 8:24, which is even more problematic due to the size of the 24T gear not fitting into a 3 stud space. After a lot of juggling with potential wheel hubs and connectors, I came up with this construction. The good part is that it does look like the leg of a bug :) Front suspension For the front suspension, I did not want to use a regular (5 stud tall) independent one, in order to have good ground clearance in the grass, and to make it look like a real beetle bug, which typically has a portal setup, with the lower A-arm raised, which again makes it look like a bug's leg. So I started experimenting if something like that could be done (using a wheel hub), and I managed to come up with the following solution. The trick here is that the lower arm's pivot is shifted (by preserving parallel movement), in order to be able to raise it. Furthermore, I used dual steering links, because the arms are 7L and the steering links are 6L, this way avoiding toe in/out, and having a tight steering response. Also, I incorporated the steering motor into the axle in order to be able to add a positive caster to the whole axle. Chassis The complete chassis looks like this. The front axle actually rests completely on the steering motor's face, form-locked onto it, while the motor is fixed to the rest of the chassis at an angle. The trailing arms are mounted onto a 3x19 frame, which forms the backbone of the chassis. I added a frame to the rear to imitate the shape of the abdomen of the bug, and to hold the Buwizz unit. Exterior and interior As for the exterior, I intended to use large panels and simple shapes to keep the weight down. The curved panels proved to be very useful; in combination with flex axles they form a nice roof / back that curves in two directions. Unfortunately, most panels (and the rim) are not available in many colors, so I decided to use a two-color scheme; black with an accent color. I experimented a lot with the colors digitally, and I basically liked two variants that were buildable: yellow and lime accents. And since I have virtually no lime inventory, I settled with yellow; I think it's an okay color for a bug. Furthermore, the lights are instrumental, both at the front and on the roof, to get a good bug-like looks :) As for interior, I could squeeze in two reasonably sized seats, a steering wheel and middle console. I would have liked a different seat color, for example blue, but exactly the one 135 degree connector that would be required is not available. In blue. In 2025. Building instructions are available on Rebrickable. About the race... As I said, the race track contained wooden ramps for jumping. The previous year, we have examined the track, and it had ramps about 30 cm tall. Many of us were skeptical about the idea, and some builders made tests at home, and concluded that it seems quite impossible to build a buggy with two motors that has enough torque for the grass, but at the same time it is fast enough to jump from 30 cm ramps. Also, 30 cm seemed too much for lego creations. So we were expecting that the ramps would be lowered to about 10-15 cm. But no, the race was held on the 30 cm ramps. As a consequence, many models fell apart on the ramps, including mine, and could not finish the race (I believe two buggies finished, a super light one, and a fairly slow but stable one). The weak spot on mine was the front suspension. Due to the tricky portal arm build, it is not completely form-locked; the lower pin that goes into the wheel hub can detach under extreme stress of the 30 cm jumps. To be fair, I thought it would fall apart on the first jump, but it did hold out for quite a few, and jumped better than I expected (getting the model to go straight onto the ramps at high speed was quite a challenge though, even with this solid steering). Fortunately, the suspension never detached during filming the video, so it is strong enough for regular off-road terrain. This year we will have the same race, but this time 4 motors are allowed for faster models (to be honest, I voted against it). I wonder how the race will turn out, those models are going to be quite a bit heavier as well, so I am expecting even more stuff breaking.. with higher speed comes the need for precise control as well, which Lego (and Buwizz) is not great at. So, after a while I managed to finish the XS buggy, the smallest buggy that I built to date. It`s main advantages are the size and the possibility to run with 5x different gear ratios, like most of the hobby RC buggies. The XS buggy features: 2x BuWizz motors for the rear drive and 1x PU L motor for the steering, both powered by 1x BuWizz 3.0 hub independent suspension at rear and front with a total of 4x hard 6.5L shocks detachable bodywork and wing You can find the Studio file on Rebrickable. Also, it`s rear chassis frame is used in some other models, such as the Baja buggy.

I made this Scarab SRV (Surface Recon Vehicle) from the video game Elite Dangerous: Horizons. It is built to Minifigure scale, and contains over 450 bricks. I hope you like it. Feedback is very welcome ofcourse. (Also I added it to ideas.lego too, if you fancy supporting it https://ideas.lego.com/projects/134382) Main Features Two Commander Minifigures - male and female. Movable side boosters - used for jumping over obstacles and ravines, and for self-righting if the vehicle gets stuck upside down after a tumble. Movable top mounted turret with twin-plasma-repeaters for mining minerals, for self-defence, and for data-link transmission. Headlights (x6), brakelights (x2) and reverse light (x1). Twin wavescanner probes at the front of the cockpit, for locating interesting objects. Two salvaged cargo cannisters - the generic blue/grey type. They often just contain tea, but hopefully these ones are full of gold! A spooky black "Unknown Artifact" - no-one knows why these mysterious alien objects started appearing near the "Merope" star system, or why they emit such creepy sounds ... So what is a Scarab SRV? It is a one-person buggy, designed for exploring remote rocky and icy worlds in high or low gravity. It can easily achieve speeds of over 85mph on flat terrain, and is great for doing skids, donuts and low-gravity-somersaults. It can carry two standard cargo units, and can scoop up minerals and resources from planet surfaces. In the game it looks like this, and features in this game trailer.

For the "Fast car competition" organized by BuWizz, I have done that: For this contest, you have to make a vehicle with suspensions, and do a video showing it doing at least one jump. Of course, the MOC must be powered by a BuWizz! For the steering, there is a servomotor. The driving is done by two L motors, with a 1:1.8 ratio. So the buggy has a correct speed, and enough torque to be driven on dirt, sand... It is fully suspended. The front is an ordinary system. But for the rear, I couldn't do independant suspensions (not enough compact) or a suspended axle (because as the motors are in the chassis, when you accelerate the axle tilts). So I done an "amost suspended axle". The liftarms thin 5L have an effect of anti roll-bar. I have tried to do a light design. Thus, the MOC weighs 460 grams.

Hey guys! It's been a little while since the last build, but I've got a new model. This time it's a class 1 offroad racing buggy like the one in the DIRT2 video game. It has servo steering and two RC motors powering it. Suspension on the front is double wishbone, and rear is trailing arm. My main goal was to make it fast, sturdy, and look good, and I feel like I got a pretty good balance. The only drawbacks are that the steering isn't very precise, and the IR receivers don't get as much reception as I would like outside in the sun. Still, it was a lot of fun to film, hope you guys like the video. Enjoy!

Hello all! Today I am presenting my newest project, an Ultra4 buggy. I know it isn't an exact copy, but I based it off one I saw and added my own details, like fake injector stacks. All that is left is an interior and working on the front suspension some more. I'm not very good at making them (suspensions), so it usually takes a while to finish them. Oh, and there's one more thing... I need to test it! I haven't been able to, because it is using broken motors as stand-ins, because my working ones are in something else. I will replace them with the real 2 L-motors and 1 Servo. I plan on using an SBrick. Tell me what you think of it so far, and what else I should add later. Thanks for taking a look! Here's my newest WIP, the IVY Buggy. I started it after getting the idea for this suspension: use the A-arms backwards on hubs, and it worked. I immediately got to work on a full MOC, and this came out of it. Last night I made some stickers by using official Lego ones and combining and recoloring them. Today I worked on it some more and fixed some problems. I don't know what I will do with the fake engine, since it doesn't work. Please tell me what you think and have a great day!

I mainly build Technic C-Models, but I also enjoy Creator alternatives, so here's what I built out of set 5763. In the photo, hot-rodder sigfig is added for scale and reference). Features: â–º minifig scale (with adjustable steering wheel) â–º openable and adjustable canopy-cage with roll bar â–º rear suspension (individual for each wheel) â–º details such as engine with radiator and twin turbo, lights, steering wheel, twin exhaust and rear view mirrors Browsing through OLX (online marketplace fo classified ads) I found old (2011), used 5763 for a price of a new small, ~50 piece set. I liked how the set contained big wheels and offered possibility to build suspension, so I bought it right away. Only one super-cheap plate was missing, so it was a nice deal. The MOC Alternative uses almost every part from the set. As you can see, the build came out quite clean:

Hello all, I have been building recently a 1/10 scale SCORE Class 1 Buggy style vehicle. I have figured out all suspension geometry, caster angle and whatnot, but I would really like to be able to make the suspension not as bouncy. So, I guess my question is, does anyone have good methods for damping shock absorbers so that they are still soft, but return their compression and don't take too much force to compress? I have tested pneumatic cylinders, but they hold my springs from returning, and arent as soft as I'd like. Thanks

Hi, Presenting my next MOC: Dune Jumper! It is completely manual, with HOG steering and front and back independent suspension. It was originally intended to be a supercar, but I ruined the back, and I thought "Just stick with it, it might end up OK". I think that it ended up better than I expected! This was just a quick weekend project. I am fond of the 42037 set, as it was one the sets that got me interested in Technic. So, I decided to try to do it some justice, and I motorized it, first with an L-motor, which wasn't great, then with an XL-motor, which was about the same, then with 2 L-motors, which was the best. Then, I got a buggy motor. And since I had just taken apart a failed battlebot, and the buggy motor was lying there, begging to be used, I decided to use it. I rebuilt my 42037 Formula Off-Roader, with a few changes, which are as follows: 1. Changed the colors from light bley/med blue/lime/black to black/white/lime. 2. Removed the inline-4 fake engine. 3. Added full motorization, buggy motor for drive, servo for steering, AA battery box with a V2 receiver. 4. Bodywork changed a bit to fit the new colors and cover the gap left from removing the fake engine. And a light bar was added, because I didn't like the round spotlights. 5. Very minor, but I changed the rear shocks attachment point on the rear suspension arms, they were moved out one more stud than shown in the instructions, in order to have better travel and not be under compression, which was an issue in the original model. If anyone is interested, here is the LDD file instructions! Anyway, I know you're all tired of my rambling, so, with out further ado, I present to you the 42037 Ultimate Racing Buggy! 42037 F 42037 FQR It has easy access to the battery box, both to replace it and to turn it on and off. 42037 FQL The suspension is great, one of the best parts of the original set, which I kept and slightly improved. 42037 Mod 42037 FQR-s The source of power and speed! The wheelbase and chassis are the same dimensions as the original set, though the buggy motor hangs out the back by a couple studs. 42037 Chassis I hope to make a video soon, but it started raining after I took photos, so maybe in a few days. But finals are coming up, so it may take some time. I will also add some cutaway photos soon, for anyone who wants to replicate my mod. Or, use the LDD file instructions. Hello My ripsaw, inspired by Fast Furious 8 (but not a copy). Since Buwizz can handle 2x Buggy motors, I decided to build light and powerful tracked vehicle for snow. Vehicle for fun! Movie was filmed 3 month ago. We have summer now. TURN ON ENGLISH SUBTITLES I am not the first here with such powerful tracked vehicle. I can confrim that it is useless toy and hard to control. Hi all I was struggling with this build for a while, mostly on the software part. But here it is. Buggy is carrying Ev3 brick and Android phone paired via Bluetooth. Phone is sending video feed from camera to another device via WiFi and receives motor control commands from it. This second device can be Android or PC. In theory this would allow exploring surroundings without eye contact with vehicle but in practice navigating is hard due to lack of ability to tun in place. Next version will have tank drive instead. In the end I'm still happy with the results, I've made several attempts on the video streaming software and in the end done it from scratch by sending raw data via UDP packets. Video stream is pretty lagged on the presentation but it depends on the streaming device performance, used one is from 2012 and pretty obsolete. I get almost real time stream when using my other phone (used to film this). I've done it in Unity game engine and whole project is available on github: https://github.com/laggyluk/LegoExplorer

It's about a time, since I've been ended my dark ages and now it looks like my way will be rather smaller attempts and "projects", then bigger and more sophisticated ones. My older builds had their own topics here and here, but I don't think that all of my next builds will be suitable for separate topics, so I decided to make this one, where I have intention to add all of my publishable builds. And for the beginning, here is my wip small manual buggy. Buggies are favourite Technic builds, there are many of them in all sizes, shapes and qualities. This one is intended to be small and simple, all manualy working. Now it has front and rear suspesion, openable cabin, steering and rear wheels conected to fake engine. I'd like to improve rear axle suspension, add HOG and steering wheel and some details here and there. And finaly adjust color scheme, although I'm not very disturbed with this clor vomit in this type of vehicle.

This F1 Racecar was something Dugald and I have been talking about doing for a long time. All of the regular batteries and motors just aren't fast enough. We tried our best to keep everything light weight, but enough paneling to show the curves of a real F1. Hi everybody. I got recently one RC Buggy motor. I plan to get another one when I have chance but for now me and my son decided to make an RC car with that. I built the drive so far as in the picture. It works fine but with one problem, when the car drives forward on the ground there is sound of gear skipping. This doesn't happen when driving backwards. Ideas and help are appreciated.

I finally got around to photographing one of my models, and figured I should finally post it. It has been raining for several days, and is forecast to do so for the next few days, so no videos yet. It was a model made to improve my skills from the last two I made, and it is definitely an improvement from before. Its fast, but if it isn't on a smooth surface it won't drive well (or at all) because it doesn't have enough torque. Lego Technic Buggy based on 9393: Tractor Model B Instruction. I don't have 9393 set but I have instruction in PDF. I used parts from 42037: Formula Off-Roader as base. This toy was made specially for Playmobil figure as driver.
