This is an easy one for me, although I have many hundreds of sets, LEGO Creator set 31070 Turbo Track Racer is my favorite set. It has the perfect amount and variety of parts to create many different styles of automobiles, pretty sure I have build at least a dozen good mocs using only parts from this set. It is also my goto set for traveling or if I just feel like tinkering without getting into my rather extensive parts bins. I actually keep it handy in its own separate resealable container.

Probably not much help but maybe consider a display plaque, for the signatures, to go with the set, or a stand.

Well, still it is nice to get confirmation of previously released information, thanks. -
New LEGO Speed Champions 2023 Rumors, Speculation

Also pullback motors don't really work well with system parts, they are much more suited for Technic. System builds tend to explode upon impact, I know from experience, lol. So there is that as well. -
New LEGO Speed Champions 2022 Rumors, Speculation
Johnny1360 replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
Finished up the last of this years offerings, the Mercedes set, one of my favorite builds of the wave but man that wing on front of the F1 car looks funny up so high. I have to say I found this years, so far, SC theme, to be very satisfying as far as the builds go, even though some of the techniques seem a bit fragile for official LEGO sets. I really enjoy building SC and feel it is literally one of the best things going now for TLG, inexpensive yet challenging builds. I look forward to the theme sticking around, the change to 8 wide was a great idea and hopefully any other changes are just as good.- 488 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2023 Rumors, Speculation

Might be cool to you but as one that has a tub full of pullback motors, I vote no. -
MOC 1960’s Dragster
Johnny1360 replied to Drag Brick's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, looks good man, this is the dragster from my childhood, really cool. I think we called them "Rails" back then. 60s/70s. -
Luke VS Dark Troopers extension using second copy.
Johnny1360 replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Turned out great, I have done this many times before, one thing I like to do is build the second set with a reverse floor plan or "mirrored", then connect them. Works great for smaller location or building type sets. Anyway great idea, looks good enough, I should do something similar. -
10300 BTTF DeLorean DMC-12 Time Machine

Well I was on the fence about getting this set but after reading that, I will definitely be picking it up, lol. Thanks for letting us know your experience.- 57 replies

Yes I believe they have a space shuttle for friends, hmm, where did I see that, I am sure I did see it like yesterday, lol.

Okay, after looking more closely at the temple, it appears you are correct. The spare parts are for attaching the flags or "rewards" to the temple for display, thanks. As with most sets, I always try to find somewhere to stick the extra bits and I actually found a couple of acceptable uses for those extra arms. So I also saw some of the new sets on shelves already, almost picked up the big dragon. One thing I couldn't help but notice is how plain the packaging is and the build seems very plain and straightforward. So much so I actually put the set back on the shelf after carrying it half way to the register.

End of a Reviewing Era
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Really enjoyed all your reviews and always considered them sort of special. They even convinced me to buy sets I never thought I would get either. They will be missed, however I hope this gives you more time for more, other, fun pursuits. -
Finally got around to finishing 71765 Ninja Ultra Combo Mech and of course right at the end I have two extra parts I swear they came from bag eight, the last one and they appear in the inventory, they are never used, as far as I can tell. It's a small part, number 6276867 black. The little robot arm with box end with bar holes. Can anyone please tell me where they go?

[MOC] Voralberg's Clockwork Locomotive - Syberia
Johnny1360 replied to cyberdyne systems's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Very interesting subject matter and once again you have built something very cool. I am always happy to see you post a moc I almost always enjoy them and the backstory. I look forward whatever you come up with next. As always thank you for showing us your work. I have always tinkered with making such a clockwork mechanism, for many years but have never seriously attempted it or even made anything usable, so I can really appreciate how cool your entire setup works. -
Way to stick with it and finish, looks great, congratulations on actually finishing too. One thing I would probably change though, the 1x tiles on the outside walls, used to represent siding. I would discontinue them once I got to the roof line, I think because the ends of the pieces are squared off they don't look right on the gables. Just a thought, still looks great but is any moc ever truly finished?

Unlike most people, I am very happy LEGO isn't like it was before my dark age, 1974. If it was, I would have never came back to LEGO, so for me there is very little nostalgia involved. For me it was specifically a licensed set that brought me back, 75105 Millennium Falcon hooked me and the rest as they say is history. The funny part is, I am not really a Star Wars fan either, only seen the first three movies, decades ago at that, it was just such a cool set, especially when compared with 1974 building standards.

[MOC] 84 - a winning train deserves a bridge at its height
Johnny1360 replied to andrepinto's topic in LEGO Town
Simply gorgeous, not sure what else to say. That bridge looks extremely well done and the loco spot on. Really impressive, thanks for sharing. -
I think maybe you misunderstood me, I said downsized, as in smaller, not to be confused with downgraded, as in poorer quality. Big difference
-
Cool, just picked it up myself, only Ninjago set I have bought for about a year now, kind of disappointed the way the dragons have been downsized, the Star Wars treatment, lol, so I am glad to hear you like it so much. Just started and am still on the first mech. Curious does your first mech have two right hands? If you followed the instructions it might have. There is a mistake I have found on page 49, Step 134. In the call-out step 3 has you putting the "thumb", 1x1 stud with handle on the wrong side, however in the very next step in magically appears on the correct side. So far I like this set a lot, many pieces that may not be new but are new to me and will be very useful for future builds. Very good value too for the elements you get.

Please help
Johnny1360 replied to Srg74's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Certainly nothing can be so frustrating, you carefully assemble and reassemble only to have it not work. Many times this has happened to me, now though, especially with the larger more complex builds, I continually test moving parts while assembling making sure everything is working smoothly before I go on. Sometimes it can be very easy to make a small mistake, so I try to build a little slower, I actually enjoy studying builds as I go along and even experiment with alternative ways of building stuff. Sorry I don't have this set, so I can't offer specific ideas but hopefully I gave you some ideas. Luck
