  1. Me too, actually just got one for $32 off RRP. Wouldn't mind picking up a second copy, if I could get an even better deal.
  2. Looks good, can it pick up it's feet and step over those obstacles, or does it have to just plow through and kick them out of the way?
  3. I really like the clean look of this one, good work. Kage, if you look at the wing connection, you will see what I was trying to explain in the other thread. Notice how the small slope pieces prevent the click hinge from moving. Form locked makes them much sturdier and makes for a much cleaner look. I know yours is on a totally different scale but I think it would help.
  4. While I would agree the original has it's faults, it seems like you significantly reduced the overall size, yet made the droid pod taller. It always seems to me those droid pods are a little to high anyway. Probably in the minority here but I really liked this set, other than the back motor falling off all the time.
  5. Yes, you are right, it does look like a challenge. Another thing with those click joints, when using several, it is crucial to insure all the hinge points are in a perfectly straight line, or they tend to pop out, at the slightest movement. It is hard to tell from a picture but some of those look slightly bowed.
  6. It has been my experience that those click hinges hold better if you lock them in so they can't hinge. It looks like the "wings" can easily be moved like a flap, eliminating that possibility will significantly increase the clutch power of the click joints. Is it enough to help, I don't know, those wings look very heavy. Sorry I am not able to explain it any better.
  7. It looks like those rail parts prevent the wing from folding up, is there a similar part underneath the wing to prevent it from folding down?
  8. Does the hinge action still move when installed, can you move the wing back and forth. If it does consider form locking it into place so it can't move as a hinge. I assume though as good of a builder that you are, you have probably already tried this. Another obvious solution could be replace the hinges with 1x2 technic plates with pinhole and simply push an axle through at the pivot, again though it would still need to be form locked. Anyway good luck, looking forward to seeing the finished product.
  9. Just grabbed set 21170, The Pig House as well, only $40 for 490 pcs, pretty good discount from the original $50. Anyway if you need pink bricks for your collection, it would be hard to beat this set. These soon to retire discounted Minecraft sets are literally a wealth of great basic bricks if someone was wanting to expand their loose brick collection. What I really like is you don't get a bunch of tiny special parts that tend to bloat out so many sets of the other themes.
  10. Well collecting to build is entirely different than collecting to resell for profit. As such advice for one way is different than the other. Unclear on which one you are interested in? Either way it never hurts to shop around for good deals, yet hold onto your cash, even if you really want a set but the price is to high.
  11. Funny you should mention this set. I just bought my first Minecraft set, 21166 and I agree it would be a good starter set. Also it is readily available for 20% discount, since it is so old and it has a fair amount of very useful basic bricks, 248 pcs. I bought it strictly as a parts pack and will likely pick up a couple more, $17 for 248 parts while the newer sets only offer less than 200 pcs. for $20. Deals like this are quickly becoming a rarity, with the runaway inflation facing the world right now.
  12. Well there is the upcoming Avatar theme, so that should be good for a start, although certainly not an in-house theme.
  13. Look at all those beautiful blue bricks and plates, looks pretty good I think. I will be curious to see how smoothly it works though, some of those supports look spindly and fidgety.
  14. That is indeed a truly unpopular opinion!
  15. That claw does look interesting, I would say it probably works better than the one on the crawler crane, as it has much less bulkiness in the center, below the pivot point of the claws. Something which prevented the previous one from actually picking up anything of substantial size.
  16. Hopefully it's easier to pull off the double loop stunt than it is to make one of those rip-cord helicopters fly, from the previous wave. Thanks for the review.
  17. I couldn't agree more and for years I have wondered why they don't do like at least one different little 3 in 1 castle set, every year. It would be perfect, especially for adding parts to ones collection. Sadly though the $20 sets seem to be discarded in favor of $30 sets. It will be very interesting seeing where this runaway inflation takes TLG, in the next year or two. Something we will all have to face up to, I'm afraid, is can I really afford LEGO anymore.
  18. Sounds like a popular opinion, certainly the way I like it anyway. Seems to me the smaller an animal is, the more it benefits being molded, the larger it is the better it looks brick built. I mean the little brick built dragons look rather abstract and chunky while a rather large molded dragon, to me would be completely ridiculous for a building brick company to make. Not to mention I thoroughly enjoy building the large dragons and I believe it was mentioned, if I buy a large dragon set called Lloyd's Dragon it better contain a fair amount of bricks, not a five piece dragon and four Minifigures.
  19. Great to hear from you, sounds like you have some really good sets lined up too.
  20. Ah, that is to bad, fortunately my local Target has them and they generally go for 10% to 20% off every now and then.
  21. I did this, bought a second set and built the tower and trebuchet. Had enough pieces left over to build another corner tower with eight studs worth of wall off both sides and maintain the same build style, so it looks like it belongs. Still I have several hundred extra parts, albeit mostly small useless parts. Thinking about a third set, I imagine there are enough extra pieces after the third build to build quite the significant structure or wall section. Of course it goes without saying, wait for a sale.
  22. Also, usually the center differential is attached to the back of the transmission and is known as the transfer case.
  23. Same here and such I always welcome new colors and recolors of older parts. Something I noticed, as a Technic builder that also dabbles in system as well. Almost all the new City sets this year had some parts of this new neon yellow color included, so there are quite the fair number of different bricks in this color. Not used to seeing a new color become so widely available right from release.
  24. Starting to look like official prices are going up on many current and soon to be released sets. So maybe this statement could be no more than wishful thinking.
