  1. @Sir von Lego seems to have confirmed over in city 2018 topic that there won't be a station.
  2. I agree. Lego city and creator modulars are aimed at different areas of the market. Even if they did release a modular museum or hotel I don't think lego would be worried about one competingtwith the other. Changing the subject slightly. I wonder how long it will be before we start to hear rumors of the next modular. Obviously I realise it is still much too early in the year yet and last year we didn't hear anything at all until November. I'm pretty sure the year before though that we started to hear whispers and rumors of assembly square during the summer months. Hope we don't have to wait until November again without so much as a rumor or two.
  3. Wow this is a work of art, just fantastic! I love the grand hotel and the way the bright colours and style of architecture contrast really well with the rest of the buildings. I also like the "house of the brick wall" and the way you've made the wall curve around, that looks very clever. The roof tops on all the buildings are also fantastic, especially the glass dome. I think it works really well here and gives great texture to that particular section. There is so much great stuff about this building that it's impossible to mention everything. Really really great work. Looking forward to reading@LegoModularFan's comments about this awesome moc. He is gonna fall off his chair when he sees this one.
  4. Well I have only been a member since last November so can't really comment on whether I think it's busier than it used to be. I do think though that apart from the Expert rollercoaster and pics of the summer sets being revealed, this is a fairly quiet time of the year for Lego news. Maybe that's why fewer people are logging on and commenting on topics, there simply isn't as much to talk about. I'm sure it will pick up again as we get in to the summer and rumors start bouncing around of the 2019 sets. And then of course we have the next winter village set and the next modular to look forward to. All this excitement tends to be clustered around late summer and Autumn so hopefully things will pick up again then. One thing I've noticed is that there seems to be much fewer reviews on here than there used to be. Even before becoming a member I regularly used to check this site to read reviews. This year there seems to be much fewer of them than usual. I'm still waiting for somebody to put up a review of Downtown Diner.
  5. Well if there is a number unaccounted for that's clustered with the other train numbers then surely it has to be either a station or another track pack or something like that. I really hope it's a station, and after the new city capital set was unveiled out of the blue yesterday, then I think it's very likely that we could get an announcement of a new station too.
  6. Thanks for the kind comment. Glad you like it.
  7. I suppose it could indicate the next modular being a hotel. On the other hand it could also mean a hotel would be unlikely for 2019 as perhaps lego wouldn't want te release 2 hotels just 6 months apart. To be honest I don't think anything in that city set can be considered a prelude to any future modular buildings. It's quite likely that they will do a hotel or museum modular at some point in the future but they won't be associated in any way with the ones in the city set.
  8. I agree. Just adding a few road plates would really finish this set off nicely and would add loads more playability options for the kids. At least the hotel has got a thin strip of pavement/sidewalk running at the base of the building. Personally I think that most city buildings would benefit from being supplied with a road plate, although I imagine this would only push up the cost of the sets.
  9. This is a seriously great layout. I love your moc buildings and vehicles. As others have pointed out there is so much detail crammed in yet it doesn't look cluttered at all. I really like the football pitch as well.
  10. Thanks. When I get round to making instructions for this I will post the details here. I am looking in to making instructions for this. As mentioned before though, I'm a newcomer to the MOC building hobby so I am learning as I go along. Can anyone recommend the best method and software for generating instructions? In that case you might be interested to know I have already started work on my next modular. Yes there is certainly more detail in the Pov-Ray render. Not sure how practical it will be to use this going forward though as that single image took over 3 hours to render. I have got over 40 pics of the MOC over on Flickr so there is no way I'd have been able to make that many pics if I'd used Pov Ray. It does give great results though and offers many more options for lighting/settings etc. Maybe I'll just use this to create the main exterior shots in the future. The blue colour is "Medium Blue".
  11. Now that's a tempting thought! Actually I reckon the only thing I'm not so keen on with the set is the museum under construction. I'd have preferred a fully built museum. I bet there will be a few people who create a full size MOC modular version of the hotel.
  12. Wow!! This is out of the blue, I was really hoping they'd do another large City centre style set. I love the bus, the hotel and all the vehicles. What an awesome looking set!
  13. Thanks a lot, glad you like it. Thanks very much. Although the design is based on a British style pub I did try to design it in a way that it would fit in well with any of the official modulars. Thanks for the advice @paupadros Here is a new image of the pub. I've used Pov-Ray for this one as suggested.
  14. This looks really good. I like how you've kept them as 2 separate 16 x 32 buildings rather than turning it in to a single 32x32 modular building. Reminds me a bit of Pet Shop. Great work!
  15. This is very impressive. You must have a beast of a computer to put something together this size. If I attempted to build model as big as this my computer would be fried.
  16. Beyond amazing. These ships have got to be about the most detailed and intricate MOCs I have ever seen. True masterpeices made from Lego. Phenomenal work!
  17. Absolutely brilliant and highly detailed model. Great work!
  18. This looks great. I still have boxed version of this set and it was a favourite of mine as a child. I like your version a lot as you have improved upon the original and added much more detail, yet it is still instantly recognisable as the Forestmans Fortress. Great job!
  19. I assume this is the pub you mentioned in your comment about my MOC earlier this week. It looks brilliant. It's full of atmosphere and reminds me very much of the seaside pubs you find in Devon, Cornwall and places like that. I like the colours you've used and the cobbled pathways. You mention that there isn't much interior detail but the interior looks like it's full of nice little details to me. A really nice building!
  20. I wonder how sturdy the whole structure is and whether it will be tricky to move around once it's built? I do think this is expensive and I had thought the same as you. The parts count is similar to assembly square so why is it so much more expensive? I suppose it comes down to the fact assembly square has a tonne of tiny parts, 1x1 tiles, cheese slopes etc. This set has got all the track and the overall finished model is vastly bigger. I do like the look of this set very much. It is the sort of model I always wished lego would produce when I was a kid. I think the finished model looks great and really fun and would certainly be a great centrepiece on any layout. Personally I don't think it will provide the most fun and rewarding build experience though. Those pillars and supports look as if they'd be quite repetitive and it doesn't look as if there is much in the way of innovative build techniques like we see in the modulars. I don't think that is the main reason people will be queuing up to buy this set though. A rollercoaster has been on a lot of people's wish lists for a long time and I'm very glad lego have finally done one. The finished model looks fantastic. I would love to own it but the high price is the only thing stopping me.
  21. I hope not too, wow that model is amazing. Anyway that model is in a different league altogether so doubt it would be affected by the new creator treehouse. Anyway they have done treehouses several times in the past. I can think of at least 2 previous creator ones and there have also been a couple of lego friends sets as well. So I don't think this new one will have much of an affect on the likelihood of that ideas model getting selected or not.
  22. I do agree I think it is a great play set for kids. My daughter will love this. I also applaud Lego for trying something a bit different. Tree houses have been done in the past so at least they've taken a different approach with this one. Personally I was just hoping that the secondary builds might have been compatible with old Lego Pirate sets. They did look like they might be on the blurry leaked pictures but the quality was too poor tell for sure. Anyway hopefully next year we will get a new wave of proper Pirate sets to celebrate the 30th anniversary.
  23. Beautiful and stunning. This thing will go down as an all time classic I reckon. Only thing stopping me is the price.
  24. Incredible!!! I love the minifig face that looks as if he's about to throw up.
