  1. Great to see all the modulars together. Thanks for sharing this pic. This clearly shows how there has been a trend towards the buildings getting smaller in recent years. This is obviously the trade off for having more detailed interiors on the newer releases. Which do you prefer? Personally I'm happier having a slightly smaller building but with more details inside.
  2. Thanks for clearing that up. I assume this one and the nurse are included so that there are some female characters represented in the set. The ninjago character seems like quite a random choice though. I think there are better options they could have chosen. Minor criticism aside - this does still look like a great little set.
  3. This one is my favourite. It looks very realistic and as @Digger of Bricks mentions above the brickwork texture looks amazing, with the varying colours that have been used. Are there any interior shots of this one? I looked on Flickr but couldn't see any.
  4. Well I bought DD back in January and still haven't got round to starting that suppose I better get that one done before I buy any other modulars. I have also got a few other ideas for possible future mocs which I would love to get started on. Hmmm, what to do next?
  5. Yes there is and it looks pretty cool. Also a policeman, spaceman and couple of others. https://brickset.com/article/35212/5005358-minifigure-factory-images
  6. I agree. I would have expected to see a policeman, pirate, spaceman and a Castle micro fig. Not really sure what the purple fig is supposed to be. It does look a pretty decent set though. I would like a whole load of the pirate micro figures to populate my mini black seas barracuda from the 60th anniversary promo set.
  7. Very good I had been looking forward to seeing this. It's a great looking building and I wouldn't have guessed it was made up from cafe corner pieces until @LegoModularFan pointed it out in his comment earlier this week. The interior details and the storyline you've created are fantastic and very creative.
  8. This looks beautiful. I love the water and how you've varied the blue colours towards the edges to create the effect of depth. The bridge looks lovely as well. Really great work.
  9. This looks really great. Love all the bright colours and details. As others have pointed out already the use of hair brushes to create the coral is very clever.
  10. I think Carl Greatrix has already been mentioned in this thread and his train designs are just awesome. Check these images out, you almost have to look twice to tell they're even made from lego. Here is the link to his Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/bricktrix/
  11. This looks great I especially like the interior with the red and white tiled floor and the table and seats look pretty similar to the one inside Downtown Diner. Good work!
  12. For Lego Modular fans in the UK, you might be interested to know John Lewis have currently got Detectives Office on offer with 10% off so it's only £128.69. They have also just started stocking DD as well although that one is full price. They have also got some other good deals and although it's not a Modular building, the Ghostbusters HQ has got 20% off making it only £227.99.
  13. Lego fans in the UK might be interested to know that DD is no longer a Lego store exclusive. It's now for sale from John Lewis. https://www.johnlewis.com/lego-creator-10260-downtown-diner/p3476331
  14. Thanks very much for the kind comments @AFOLguy1970, @Agent 86 and @DK_Titan Yes I suppose the toy shop doesn't have quite as many useful parts as the others but it does have a shed load of windows and doors included. I think there are 21 tan coloured window and door frames in varying sizes in that set. I agree it's a real shame that they don't seem to be making the Creator 3in1 buildings in that style any more.
  15. These pics are great fun to look at, it looks a brilliant display. I really like how you've got stuff going on under the water as well, that's a very clever and original idea.
  16. This looks incredible. I really like how you've used loads of tiles to create the stone texture effect, it looks very effective. Also I've just been looking at some of your other work on your youtube channel. Your medieval layout looks great and your trees are brilliant. I think the best Lego trees I've ever seen.
  17. Thanks! Yes apart from the base plate it's completely limited to parts from those 3 sets. Thanks. I would have liked to add an extra level but their just weren't enough bricks available. This is why I opted for the top level being split between a small enclosed building and a roof garden terace. This was the best way I could think of making it work with the limited parts available. Thanks a lot. Yes although these sets contain plenty of bricks between them, I found the biggest challenge was figuring out how to combine all the different colours without it looking like too much of a patchwork quilt. I was pleasantly surprised to find those 3 creator sets contain enough grey tiles when combined to create the trademark modular pavement along the base of the building and also enough to tile the tops of the walls between each module. Those sets definitely make great little parts packs for MOC builders. Thanks a lot, and thanks to you for providing lots of inspiration via your "inspirational mocs" topic. I'm glad you notice the subtle similarity to the shape of DO. I did set out with the original idea to create a MOC that looks as if it's a combination of more than one building. Although it didn't end up looking quite like DO, my intention was definitely to create something with that general shape and format. Regarding the interior, again this all comes down to the fact I had limited myself to the parts I wanted to use. My main aim was to get the front facade looking half decent and then to use whatever I had left over to do the interior. I wasn't even sure whether I'd have enough bricks to do an inside at all. I'm quite pleased with how the inside worked out though. Thanks very much, that's very kind.
  18. Hi Everyone I'd like to share my first MOC design which I've been working on over the past few weeks. I decided to set myself a challenge to see if I could create a Modular building using just the parts taken from 3 of my existing sets. All the parts I used were taken from the 3 Creator sets above, 31036, 31050 and 31065. The only extra thing I added was a green 16 x 32 baseplate but apart from that, everything else is taken from those 3 sets. So here is my very first MOC - The Modular Convenience Store As you can see the model is 16 studs wide and is designed to fit in with the Modular building series. There are 3 levels and although it's essentially one building, I wanted to give the impression from the outside that it consists of 2 narrow buildings side by side with the main shop on the left and the tall blue section to the right. Level 1 - The Convenience Store The first level of the building is the Convenience Store itself. Outside on the front we have a bench, street lamp, flower display and a fire hydrant. The main door at at the base of the blue tower gives access to the inside of the store. Inside the store there is a cash desk, fruit and vegetables and shelves with various items for sale. I also built a small shooping trolley for the minifigs to use with their shopping. A door at the back of the store gives access to the rear of the building. At the back is a staircase leading to the second level. Level 2 - Apartment On the middle level is an apartment / studio flat. On the outside is a large Bay window and a door with a Juliet balcony looking out on to the street below. The inside of the apartment is pretty small but I have managed to squeeze in a kithcen, TV, bed, lamp, shelves, table and stool. Level 3 and Roof Outside again the only way for the minifigs to reach the next level is via a ladder on the back of the building. The top level consists of a small building and a roof top garden. The roof top building is extremely small (6 x 4 studs) but the roof can be removed and inside is a table with binoculars, a lamp and a brick built sweeping brush hanging on the wall. A door from this small building leads out in to the roof top garden. Here we have a BBQ, seat, plants and a glass covered vegetable patch. Displaying the Model Here are a selection of pics showing the model on display alongside Parisian Restaurant and Assembly Square. Thanks for reading and I hope you like the model, feel free to let me know what you think. If you want to see more pics then head over to my Flickr page where I've added loads more. https://www.flickr.com/photos/140122416@N02/albums
  19. Thanks for letting us know. Let's not lose hope though! There is always a chance we could see some new pirates sets next year.
  20. This is a really nice, colourful and fun design. I like the use of the striped umbrella to create the "O" in the "toys" sign on the front.
  21. With a heavy heart I must also agree that I don't think lego would release the arcade. It's such a great looking set and I would love nothing more than to see it get made as an official set. I think lego are content with releasing one modular per year for now though and sadly I don't think that will change any time soon. I would love to be proven wrong though and if this thing went on sale then I would definitely buy it.
  22. This is looking very interesting. When will you be sharing the full pics?
