Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think it would be great to release a small 16 wide modular once a year in addition to the main standard size set. I also wish they would bring back these style of Creator 3in1 shops. Although these weren't considered part of the modular line they were good looking, affordable sets that complimented the modulars quite nicely. -
Hopefully 31093 will be minifig scale as well. I'm quite interested to see how this one will turn out. "Houseboat" could be interpreted to mean something like a canal barge or a British style narrow boat which I would love to see made from LEGO. Just checked back through this thread though and in an earlier post the set was known as "River Boat house". So it will perhaps more likely turn out to be a small riverside building with a boat docked at the side. I guess it depends on how the title is translated in to English, but either way I am intrigued to see how that set turns out. We definitely need some more Creator buildings. I've just looked at the "retiring soon" list and a massive amount of Creator sets are on the list. Almost all of the recent buildings with modular elements are getting cut. The only left in production will be the Modular Skate house, Sweet surprises and the recent pirate tree house.

For anyone in the UK thinking of picking up the new City train sets, you might want to check out John Lewis. They have just launched their black Friday offers and both trains have been reduced by 33%. 60197 is just £79.99 and 60198 is £119.99.

Detective's Office, Brick Bank and Tower Bridge retiring soon?
Bricked1980 replied to brickmeistro's topic in LEGO Town
For anyone in the UK!!! John Lewis have today launched their Black Friday offers. Detectives Office has been slashed to just £107. Wow what a bargain. Tower Bridge is just £174.99 and Big Ben is £143.99. They also have some great deals on lots of other LEGO sets too. EDIT: Just checked again and DO is now out of stock! Not surprised at that price!- 51 replies

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
Actually I think LEGO Juniors has been moving in this direction for the past couple of years now. Last year they released these sets which were branded as "Juniors" but are still considered part of LEGO City as they carry the City logo on their packaging. There have also been several "Juniors" versions Friends, Ninjago, Jurassic World and many other themes. For next year it seems as if they've just dropped the Juniors branding and slapped a 4+ emblem on to the boxes instead. I agree with @Digger of Bricks. In past years we've had a Castle, a Pirate Island, a horse stable and many other varied subjects released under LEGO Juniors. Now that the 4+ sets have been fully integrated in to the bigger umbrella themes, it means they'll be limited to only producing sets based on current subjects being produced under those themes. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Are you referring to all the new city and creator pics that have appeared online within the past few hours? I believe these pictures have come from a store that has started selling the sets early, rather than from a leaked catalogue. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Well I believe it was on this date in 2017 that the first leaks of the diner started to appear. Bit disappointed that history hasn't repeated itself this year. -
The interesting thing to me is that none of these come with minifigs. Last year's creator sets seemed to weigh more heavily than usual in favor of minifig scale sets, so these feel a bit more like older style creator sets to me. Is this all we're getting for Creator this winter? I'm hoping there will be some new buildings/houses as well.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
Most of these look great. I really love the harvester transporter and the desert rally car looks a decent small set too. I'm a bit disappointed with that garbage truck trough. It looks as if LEGO might have ditched the Juniors brand and are instead releasing these junior sets, branded as part of the standard LEGO themes instead. -
Thanks. Well I had planned to start work on a fourth modular over the summer but I decided to have a go a steam engine instead just because I wanted to try something a bit different after designing 3 modulars back to back. Promoting my Ideas project has ended up taking most of my free time over the last few months but I haven't turned my back on designing modulars. I have a little project I've been working on recently that I'm intending to post on EB in a couple of weeks time. I also have plans for another new modular that I'm hoping to start working on after Christmas.

Thank you very much for this! It really does mean a lot to me to have my models featured in this topic. Can't believe it's a year since I joined EB. I can tell you that when I first joined I was quite happy just collecting and building official LEGO kits. The MOC scene was not really a part of the Lego hobby that had really interested me up until that point. It was only after joining Eurobricks that I started to take notice of the amazing moc's that people were creating themselves and was inspired to have a go myself. So I honestly don't think I'd have designed any of my moc's at all if it wasn't for Eurobricks and especially from reading great topics like this one. So thanks very much @LegoModularFan and everyone else who contributes to this topic for giving me the inspiration.

Detective's Office, Brick Bank and Tower Bridge retiring soon?
Bricked1980 replied to brickmeistro's topic in LEGO Town
Brick Bank and Detectives Office are now both listed on the LEGO store as "Retiring Soon". https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Modular-Buildings?icmp=HP-SHT-OP-CE-creato-520 I'm tempted to buy DO now rather than wait till Black Friday. The set was confirmed to drop by 20% in the USA but I'm not sure if we'll be getting the same deal in the UK. Here is a list of sets that are supposed to be on offer over Black Friday in the UK. I can't see any of the modulars on the list. http://bricksfanz.com/black-friday-lego-deals-revealed/ Not sure what to do!- 51 replies

It's now confirmed that Brick Bank and Detectives Office are definitely both retiring. On the UK version of the LEGO store they have both had their status updated to "Retiring Soon". https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Modular-Buildings?icmp=HP-SHT-OP-CE-creato-520 -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Interesting! I read that bit too but didn't think anything of it until you pointed it out! I think he is just using "Police Station" as an example of all the different ideas and themes that people come up with for their own designs, but who knows. One things for sure... assuming the new modular will be out in January then we will find out what it is within a maximum of 2 weeks from now. By then the January store calendars will start to appear online and if the modular is out in January then it will be featured in the calendar. Cannot wait to find out what it's gonna be. -

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Just wanted to let everyone know I have added another one of my MOC's to LEGO IDEAS! The model is called "Miniature Steam Machines". I had originally designed this as a little side project to my other IDEAS entry "The Old Workhorse", but the models have received some positive feedback online so I have decided to give them their own shot at LEGO IDEAS. Here is the link to this project on IDEAS https://lego.build/2FkizwM -
Just wanted to let everyone know... Originally I designed these little models as a side project to my LEGO IDEAS entry "The Old Workhorse - Traction Engine". I have now decided to give them their own shot at LEGO IDEAS though and have added them to the site as their own project. If you like these little models I'd be really grateful if you could please head over to LEGO IDEAS and give "Miniature Steam Machines" your support! https://lego.build/2FkizwM Thank you very much!!! Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I wonder if they will retire both BB and DO. Problem is this would only leave 3 modulars currently for sale (assuming we will get a new one in January). Perhaps they are trying to clear out 2 of the old modulars to make way for 2 brand new ones coming in 2019? Maybe as well as the new January set, later next year we will get the long rumored re-release of CC or GG as well. -
[MOC - IDEAS] THE OLD WORKHORSE - TRACTION ENGINE
Bricked1980 replied to Bricked1980's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well I had very high hopes that both these promotional efforts would gain me some extra votes. Unfortunately it didn't have the effect I'd hoped for. I created a unique web link for the article printed in the magazine and for the show last weekend. Using this I was able to track exactly how many page hits I'd received directly from the magazine and motor show. During the week the magazine was mailed out my page hits went up by quite a lot but I didn't notice a significant increase in votes. Whilst I was at the Motor Show there were lots of people looking at the model and seeming very interested. They took leaflets away with them containing instructions on how to vote but I have hardly had any votes over the weekend at all which is a bit dis-heartening considering the amount of people that were there and the efforts involved with arranging it all. One bit of feedback I received from people at the show who did vote was what a faff they thought it was. Most people didn't expect that they'd have to register their email address and then answer questions about how much they think the set would cost, how many copies people would buy etc. I think the fact that people have to sign up for a LEGO ID is a big hurdle that puts a lot of people off voting, especially when trying to get votes from people who aren't really LEGO fans in the first place. Anyway although the results were disappointing, my model did catch the attention of some of magazines who were on site at the motor show over the weekend. So I'm hoping it might get featured in a couple more of these in the near future.- 65 replies

[MOC - IDEAS] THE OLD WORKHORSE - TRACTION ENGINE
Bricked1980 replied to Bricked1980's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I had considered doing that but I decided not to, as I'm not a big fan of painting or modifying LEGO bricks. I might buy a spare set of wheels at some point though and spray them red as I think red wheels would make a big difference to the look of the model.- 65 replies

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Almost certainly going to be DO. It is showing up in the Christmas store catalogue on the page with sets retiring soon. As well as this it's been confirmed the set will be reduced by 20% on Black Friday which further suggests to me that this will be the next one to be retired. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Well last year the first leaked image of Downtown Diner appeared on November 18th I think. So if it follows the same pattern then maybe we could be just days away from finding out what the next set will be. -

@brickmeistro Regarding Detectives Office, I would definitely suggest holding out till Black Friday. It's been confirmed that in the USA the set will be reduced by 20%. I would say there's a strong chance we'll get the same offer in the UK as well.- 51 replies
