  1. Thanks! I didn't design them to any particular scale but yes they are all in scale with each other. Each vehicle is only 4 studs wide (apart from the rear wheels) and they are too small to fit a minifigure inside. If you look at the last couple of pictures in my post you can see an image of the models standing next to my bigger "Old Workhorse" model. This model is minifig scale so you can see from this image just how small these new models are in comparison. Here is a new picture of a mini fig standing next to the Steam Roller to help give an idea of their size. Miniature Steam Roller 7 by Bricked1980, on Flickr
  2. Hi everyone This is the first time I've posted a MOC in the train forum and although these models are not trains, they are still locomotives of a sort and I thought this would appeal to train and especially steam fans. "Miniature Steam Machines" is my collection of 3 steam engines designed at a small scale. I set myself a challenge to see if I could build these little engines using a very limited amount of bricks but still maintaining a decent level of detail. They are all very small. The biggest of the 3 models only contains 128 bricks. Traction Engine The Traction Engine is the smallest of the 3 models and only uses 82 bricks. The basic structure of this model forms the basis for all three models and this one in particular is intended to represent a miniature version of my LEGO IDEAS project, The Old Workhorse - Traction Engine. Steam Roller The second model is a steam roller and this one is made from 109 bricks. Showman's Engine The third model is a Showman's Engine. This model is the biggest of the 3 and contains 128 bricks. I designed these mini models to act as a sort of side project and to help promote my LEGO IDEAS model called "The Old Workhorse - Traction Engine". This a much bigger and more detailed model. Here is a picture showing the mini models alongside the Old Workhorse. If you're interested in reading more about The Old Workhorse then it has its own topic here on Eurobricks. The Old Workhorse - Traction Engine If you like the model I'd also be massively grateful if you could please vote for it over on LEGO IDEAS at the following link. https://lego.build/2vRfVGL Many thanks for reading and I hope you like these models.
  3. Seems as if each time they make an "improvement" to the site, they take one step forward and two steps back.
  4. Thanks a lot. Well I always knew it would be a tough job building up the votes. I guess a project like mine is just not as popular with voters as space ships or models that are based on licensed themes. All I can do is keep plugging away and hope that it eventually pays off. I must admit I really thought my article featured in Blocks mag would have been a bit more successful, I hardly noticed any increase at all after that was published. On the other hand my article in the Leicester newspaper gave me my biggest boost to date, which I didn't really think it would considering it's only a regional publication and not Lego related. That's a good idea, thanks for the tip. I've just signed up to Rebrickable and have submitted the model. Will have to wait for it to be approved before it goes live though.
  5. Out of the two, definitely PR. Not only is it the better model but will most likely be the next modular to retire.
  6. Well according to the banner on the website it looks as if LEGO Ideas will be out of action for an hour later today. It says Wednesday 11th but I assume that's a mistake and it really means today. On another subject I've got a new announcement about my project which I'm pretty excited about. If you're interested you can read about it here.
  7. I've been really lucky over the past few weeks to have my model featured in Blocks magazine, my local newspaper and a couple of other publications as well. I also exhibited the model at a local railway museum which led to it being featured in the LEGO Ideas weekly e newsletter. I've also been given one other great opportunity which I haven't mentioned until today as I wasn't sure whether it would all come together or not. Over the past couple of months I've been in contact with an organisation called the FBHVC (Federation of Historic Vehicle Clubs). They might not be particularly well known but they are a large organisation who oversee vehicle clubs in the UK and look after the interests of vintage vehicle owners, helping to ensure that they can still be used on British roads. Anyway they have very kindly offered to help me in promoting my LEGO Ideas project as they feel it could be a useful tool for helping to get kids and younger people interested in history and steam heritage. My model has been included on the front cover and as the feature article in their latest magazine that goes out to around 240,000 members. As well as this they have invited me to display my model on their stand at "The Classic Motor Show" at the Birmingham NEC next month. This is a 4 day event which is expected to draw in around 70,000 visitors. I'm not 100% sure about this bit but they had mentioned something about their display having some connection tying it in with the Lego brick 60th anniversary.
  8. I would have hoped to see some more solid leaks by now as well. I'm sure last year we had leaked photos during September and maybe even as early as August. A few weeks ago there was some discussion in this thread about the new set 60223 and whether or not it would be an Agricultural Harvester or some sort of Forest machine. I've just been looking at Technic set 42080. In the product description this is referred to as a "Forest Harvester". I reckon it seems pretty likely that the new set could end up being a Lego City equivalent of the same concept of Harvester vehicle.
  9. My top 3 modulars are the same as yours, certainly when it comes to the more recent releases. However I'm currently building the Diner and I have to say it's a thoroughly enjoyable thing to put together and looks much better in the flesh than it does on photos. Personally I prefer the more quaint, "pretty" looking buildings like Assembly Square and Parisian Restaurant. They have a real charm and are very attractive things to display. For me the Diner lacks a lot of the charm that originally attracted me to collecting modulars. It's still an awesome Lego model but I can understand why it's not everyones cup of tea. Anyway we are now well in to October so it's pretty exiting to think that we may only have to wait around 5 weeks before we find out what the next set will be.
  10. I thought that was the case but the site I saw it on was claiming it to be the final product.
  11. There is an apparent leaked image doing the rounds of the finalised version of the Pop Up Book set. Apparently they're claiming an official announcement will be made soon with the set due to be released on October 26th.
  12. Thanks very much. I do prefer the colour scheme used in my original model as well and it would still be my preference for it to be made in those colours if ever it succeeded on LEGO Ideas. Unfortunately I had to alter the colours for the brick version but I wanted to build it from bricks so that I've got something I can take out to exhibitions and also check that the model is structurally sound. Just been looking at your Traction Engine model. It looks amazing. I like how you've added a canopy roof to yours. I might try a an alternate version of mine at some point with a canopy added. A couple of weeks ago I took my model to a toy and steam exhibition at a local railway museum. I sent some photos to LEGO IDEAS and I was really pleased to see they included it as a feature in their weekly email newsletter that was sent out yesterday.
  13. I really appreciate that, thanks very much. If you want to read more about the model, I've made a topic all about it over in the Special themes forum.
  14. Thanks for that. Actually my email turned up over night so it must just have been delayed for some reason. I'm really pleased with that feature, didn't realise they would mention my Blocks mag article as well.
  15. Don't think I've unsubscribed myself. Also I checked with my brother and he hasn't received his email either. I would normally have had it by now but I wonder if they send them out in batches and maybe for some reason it hasn't been sent to people in the UK yet? Anyway, was I in it?
  16. That's it. I'm supposed to be in the email newsletter as a "Lego Ideas in the wild" feature. Shame about the cringeworthy mug shot and homemade t shirts in that photo haha. Ah well, at least nobody could accuse of not trying hard enough. Thank you, glad you think that. Hopefully it might give my project a bit more exposure. Out of interest has anyone received their lego ideas newsletter today? I haven't had my email yet.
  17. Just had an email from Lego Ideas to say I'm gonna be featured in their Weekly Digest due to be emailed out later today.
  18. I'm wondering, now the flintstones is approved, what will that mean for this set? https://ideas.lego.com/projects/1b4ec7b2-d4e5-45ed-a738-009f13f737bc Will that one be allowed to continue gathering support even though it's very unlikely it could ever be approved?
  19. That sounds interesting. So my guess was 100% wrong then.
  20. Wow! Really glad these 2 got approved. The Flintstones was always a pretty safe bet, but I didn't really expect the Treehouse would get approved, miainly because it looks quite a complex and big model. I'm really pleased it has been though and I hope they don't alter it too much after it gets redesigned by the LEGO professionals.
  21. There have a been a few Creator set names rumored for 2019. There is a thread over in the "Special themes" forum with more info.
  22. Just seen that. Wow how exciting. By the way the glitch I mentioned in my earlier post has now been fixed.
  23. Well the site is now back up, think it was just a minor technical upgrade but I've already spotted a new glitch that has appeared. If you navigate to a person's profile it no longer shows projects they've submitted. You just get a blank page if you try to view their contributions. I use this feature quite a lot so hope it gets fixed. Has anyone else spotte this? I'm referring to the mobile version of the site. Haven't checked it on my PC yet.
  24. This is a beautiful, colourful and highly detailed model. I love the video you've made as well, it was pretty darn relaxing, watching the camera rotate around the model. I would buy this and have just given it my support over on LEGO Ideas. Good luck!
  25. @Digger of Bricks for a moment, when I first looked at this one I thought it was a model you'd designed yourself, when I saw the retro spaceman minfig in the corner of the photo.
