Those slow-mo shots... Great little buggy, it's very fast, looks like a lot of fun! However, man, I feel sorry for those 8-tooth gears... They are pretty battered. Good luck!

@AFOLegofan66 BuWizz is pricey... And this is going to be a fully manual model. Plus, I don't have the right kind of phone. After it is finished... We shall see.

Oops! You noticed! I currently only have a few of those axles, so for now, it is going to stay that way, as I will probably need them elsewhere. However, I might eventually replace the pins with dark bley axles with stud (?). @I_Igor It is currently quite sturdy, braced well on both ends. Nothing to worry about. Besides it's a manual model, so no XL motors to break things.

QUICK UPDATE: Gearbox and shifter are nearly done! I hope to finish it this evening. As the photos show, the transmission is connected to the rear axle now, and most of the temporary supports are gone. It is a bit bulky, more so than I had hoped it would be, but I should be able to work around it pretty well. I'll be attaching the front axle next, once I finish the shift mechanism. @Didumos69 I think I'll end up using one of yours, mine doesn't work as constantly, or as smoothly. Kudos to Didumos69 for the idea!!! I wasn't planning to make this a modular build, but it is turning out that way... [WIP] Nomad Transmission/Axle [WIP] Nomad Transmission/Axle

@Didumos69 Oops. I had no idea yours was the same. I'll be changing mine anyways (probably, somewhat), I want a knob on top of the shift lever. @Erik Leppen Hopefully, that will all change with the release of the Chiron... @I_Igor Yeah, I knew what you meant. Besides, the red is too bright, so it's only on the brakes. Today is Thursday, which means that tomorrow is Friday, which means the weekend (and progress) is less than 48 hours away! Update(s) coming soon!

SWOOSHABLE?! No way! I need to see proof of this... Awesome build, the sheer size and detailing never ceases to impress me.

FINALLY!!! A REAL UPDATE!!! 1. THE GEARBOX: It is complete, and the extra bits to drive the now-long-gone fake engine have been removed. A shifter is still WIP, as you can see. I have looked at so many different versions, styles, and ideas, I have no clue as to whether this is replicating someone else's... As far as I know, it is/will be an inspired original shifting mechanism. [WIP] Nomad Gearbox Assembly 2. THE CHASSIS: All over the place. Most of it is just temporary right now, I'll be changing colors and streamlining it soon. Currently, it is just there to hold all the parts in place. [WIP] Nomad Chassis 3. THE BODY: I still have no idea what might happen with it, but it will most likely be integrated with the chassis so that it functions like the real thing, and provides strength and support. I will be using a few flex-axles to achieve some curves, sorry @Didumos69, but most of the body/rollcage will be rigid. And how about some BLUE seats?!

Leonardo da Bricki replied to 9 fingers's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow. Very nice model. A few details here and there could be tweaked, but overall, it looks great! I thought it was much larger than it first appeared.- 17 replies

Contest: Lester's Big Adventure!
Leonardo da Bricki replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
@Peppermint_M Before I get started, I would like to know, is a Lego base required/wanted to model the terrain for the vehicle? Or should it be just the vehicle, with no backdrop/base? Thanks! -
Mind-blowing build! I've been watching the updates on this build for a really long time now. The finished product is incredible: details, functions, sheer size...

Wow. Love the way this monster drifts on the ice! Great model, performance, and video! @braker23 and the 2 RC units. Those are big and heavy as well.

I also am leaning towards the med. blue/white/black combo. With enough custom stickers, the blue/med. blue/black/white stripe would be awesome.

Cool little model! I like the shaping. And the speed! Looks like a heck a lot of fun to drive! -
Impressive performance! It looks good, the System parts really help the shaping here. Could we get a belly shot?

Well... It's been two months without an update. I apologize. Now I will rectify that problem. UPDATE!!! FINALLY!!! IT'S BEEN SO LONG I TOTALLY FORGOT THIS EXISTED!!! BUT THERE'S AN UPDATE!!! 1. Though I have no photos of it & it's already been dismantled, I did make the engine work. However... It needed to be about 4 studs shorter. So I decided to do without, and make a more detailed mock-up of one. 2. I have been working on a bunch of random bits lately, hopefully in a few days, I'll have something coherent to show you. Or maybe tonight, depending on how this goes...

Awesome creation! Lots of functions, it works great! I was thinking that you should make the 2 pairs of tracks on either side independently steered, to improve the driving ability. Love the contest idea too!

Cool model, I built one like this out of system parts back when I was 9 or 10... Nostalgic model for me, I love the beast! @MAB I was thinking the same thing! Definitely like the one in Night At The Museum!

Amazing work! The gearbox is insane, I would love to see a video of it, I find it hard to believe it would work with so many idlers.... HoF for sure! Only thing for me to point out is that the red line looks a little out of place, starting so far back. I think it should go the whole way around on the front, like it does in the rear. I am imagining this car (someday, somehow, COME ON LEGO!!!) in lime green! with black accents. Or black with lime accents. And trans-clear headlights. I do agree with @Didumos69 about the trans-med. blue lights looking better than the trans-neon ones.
