The Brick of Nations ---- Retired from Old Game
Leonardo da Bricki replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
Toohati Ambassador to the Brick of Nations, Victoria Wilson Declaring War Cretins of the CoAC, I have news for you! The Republic of Nations will never agree to your proposal! This is not an alliance, this is a petty attempt to bring the RoN under your rule, abiding to your whims and wishes, and making fools of us! I say it will not be so! There can be no division of Xenor! Should the nation be split, it is obvious that the CoAC will dictate the terms, choosing what they desire to have, and throwing us the scraps! Members of the CoAC, I suggest you brains out of you butts and do something worthwhile in this offensive! The RoN is facing enemies on all fronts, the remnants of Xenor's government, the Servants of Freedom terrorists, and now the CoAC has decided to join the ranks with this backstabbing! I will stand firm with my friend, Ambassador Andrew Bricks. The RoN will not be led like sheep to the slaughter! We see through your lies! Ladies and men of the Brick of Nations, this is war! There is no means of debate or diplomacy among terrorists and tyrants except with blood and bullets! As such, the RoN has free reign to attack these traitors wherever they might hide, regardless of the COAC's ludicrous requests! The RoN will eliminate those who stand against us, including members of the CoAC, should they choose to be so foolish! Consider this fair warning! War is upon us, AND TO THE VICTOR THE SPOILS!!! -
Thanks @Sariel for the in-depth review. I am still disappointed in it... No buy for me. Not for a long time.

[MOC] GAZ-3309 Truck
Leonardo da Bricki replied to paave's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great looking truck! The functions are good especially that engine, and I really like the suspension. The only thing I would change is to use a 3 or 4L bar instead of an axle for the wipers. -
Man, why did these videos have to be so long?! @Sariel You made me late for work! Great review as always. I will not be getting this set, it's WAY too expensive, but some of those gears and those new transmission parts will be mine!

[MOC] Kenworth T600
Leonardo da Bricki replied to JLiu15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Excellent truck, it looks amazing, but could use an accent of some sort, even just some gray to break up the black hole. The trailer is better than the truck, do you have more photos of that epic crane? You really slimmed it down, especially for knuckleboom. -

The Brick of Nations ---- Retired from Old Game
Leonardo da Bricki replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
Toohati Ambassador to the Brick of Nations, Victoria Wilson Declaring War To all members of the Coalition of Allied Nations: The Republic of Nations no longer considers an alliance with the Coalition of Allied Nations to be beneficial, both now and in the foreseeable future. The Republic of Nations hereby terminates any form of an official alliance with the Coalition of Allied Nations, for the reasons given below. Members of the Republic of Nations are of the mind that the representatives of the Coalition of Allied Nations have not been amenable to open discussions, and their hasty actions in selecting their objectives, without seeking counsel, go against all principles of an alliance. The nations and representatives of the Republic of Nations, obligated to put the needs and safety of their people first, feel that these attempts by the members of the Coalition of Allied Nations to seize or dictate control are reckless, especially in these times of strife. The hasty actions of the Coalition of Allied Nations have serious potential to jeopardize the welfare of our nations and our people. Perhaps in the future, the Republic of Nations will once more seek out an alliance with the Coalition of Allied Nations, should cooler heads prevail. At this time, the Republic of Nations will allow it's individual member countries to maintain any treaties one country may have with any CoAC nation(s), but no encompassing alliance shall exist between the RoN and the CoAC. -
I gave it another try with another mechanism I thought of... It's worse than before. Rubber connectors = no good for anything!! Knob wheels are useful, but I did experiment with them, but had no luck making a mechanism that allows them to rotate forwards and back while locking in place every 90degrees. My apologies for the crappy quality photos, my good camera has no juice, it needs to charge... [WIP] Shifter V3.2 Topside [WIP] Shifter V3.2 Underside @Paul Boratko & @Didumos69 Do you guys have any advice for me? I cannot think of anything else to try.

It's interesting for sure, but maybe put "Digital Model" in the title, I was hoping for a physical build.... -
I like your ability to back to the same MOC again and again, and improve it every time! Excellent work! Also... Couldn't those 5x7 frames be black? I recently got my order of the new frames.
-
@Didumos69 No problem. I might be able to implement another style of shifter later tonight. I know what the issue is now, it is that the System parts I am using are not 100% centrally aligned on the axle. And the result is incomplete shifts. It's a good idea of mine, but it has rather serious flaws... Concerning your other point about strength... The current chassis will eventually have beams helping connect everything, once I add the seats, body and rollcage. It is very minimal structure right now to allow for what's going to be added to it. @agrof What he said. And thanks!

The Brick of Nations ---- Retired from Old Game
Leonardo da Bricki replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
Toohati Ambassador to the Brick of Nations, Victoria Wilson Declaring War In light of recent events, specifically the tragic nuclear bombing, Toohati must acknowledge it's role in these occurrences. For quite some time, my nation has been actively supporting the Servants of Freedom. We gave them supplies in order to aid their fight against the tyranny of the Xenorian regime. Now, even though the oppression of one regime has ended, we know that the replacement governing body is not worthy of support. At this time, Toohati is officially severing all ties with the Servants of Freedom. No longer will we provide them with supplies of any kind, nor will we be providing technical abilities. Instead, Toohati will decisively wage war against these traitors and terrorists. The Servants of Freedom no longer deserve that name. The act of bombing an entire city, indeed, with a thermonuclear weapon, eclipses all other acts of terrorism known up to this point in our shared history. They have threatened all nations, and have shown just how far they are willing to go in their insanity. Toohati will stand against the storm! Who will join me in defending our nations, our people, and our lives?! Finally, the nation of Toohati is willing to send medical supplies and personnel into Xenor i order to help the people affected by this horrendous bombing. Any possible aid will be rendered to the displaced citizens, including asylum or temporary residency for medical care, in our nation. -
UPDATE: Prototype Chassis!!! 1. This is most definitely a prototype, I am still figuring out how I want everything to connect together. And where the seats and limited bodywork and the rollcage are gonna be attached. 2. The gearbox has been updated. It now about 20% more compact, and also more reliable when shifting, though not 100% yet. I don't yet know how to fix that, but if anyone has any ideas, feel free to share them! You will get full credit! 3. @Didumos69 As requested, here is the video! My first ever on YouTube! Click subscribe!

Oh man... For a second there, I thought someone had a barfed a rainbow on the table... Then I looked and realized what it was. How sad. A 16+ set looks like this? Disappointing. I sure hope we get the new parts in gray, black, or even red to match the ones we already have... And the new parts are cool. This will make gearbox designs more interesting for sure, and I am super happy about the new 20t-gear-with-clutch, adding reverse just got way easier! Conclusions from photos: 1. 7+R gearbox. 2. New fake caliper mount for existing wheel hubs. 3. New changeover catch piece which rotates continuously on an axle. NEGATIVE ABOUT THIS PIECE: It CANNOT be mounted inside the gearbox, it must be outside! 4. Anyone else notice that the suspension design is an identical x2 build, judging by the way the shocks, and other parts, have been mounted? EDIT: 5. If the gearbox goes just in front of the rear axle... Where the heck does the massive W-16 engine go!? -
@Aventador2004 As I previously stated above, I will be reinforcing the shocks. @Didumos69 It is in the shop. I am working as I type this to make the chassis structure around it as compact and strong as possible, but still allowing the mechanism to work. I will try to post a video of the whole gearbox for everyone this weekend!

UPDATE: Gearbox Revision! 1. I am attempting to streamline the support structure/chassis elements of the gearbox. It was something I was already unhappy with, particularly with wanting to add a partial interior, (with the Classic BLUE SEATS!) so as I was exchanging parts, I decided to make a couple changes... Photos below, sorry for the poor quality... PARTS!!! Thought you guys might want to see what all I ordered from Lego. And I forgot to post that photo a couple days ago. [WIP] Ariel Nomad Chassis V2.0 As you can see, the entire gearbox is 5 studs wide, except for the shifting elements. Quite happy with that! [WIP] Ariel Nomad Chassis V2.0 Rear view. Ever important. The shocks will be reinforced, among other things, I'm not sure what all I want to include in the rear... Sorry for the long lack of updates, but it should be (more) regular from here on out! I'm trying to finish this MOC before school starts! Please drop a comment for advice, critiques, or anything else! - Leo

I tend to scale a model based on the Unchangeable Part (wheel rims/detail part). After that... I jam in the wanted functions, eyeball the looks, and let @M_longer tell me what needs to be changed. Then I simplify the model, make it look better, (repeat as needed) and call it good. Until I decide that this part could be swapped with this one, and that area could use...

The only "dark age" in my short life is when I moved, and all my parts were in storage for almost 2 months... I do understand how interests can wane, or switch from one thing to another, or life gets in the way. For now, @Cumulonimbus I think you should hold on to at least 60% of your parts (if you choose to sell anything) and see what happens. Perhaps you'll find your interest in Technic again, or perhaps not.

Leonardo da Bricki replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What about the ones stretching across the hood? It's hard to tell from the perspective, but they might be longer than 16L... EDIT: The one thing that really impresses me (so far) is how TLG managed to squeeze that engine into the back of the car! -

Leonardo da Bricki replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh man... I'm not still dreaming, am I?! That rear looks awesome!!! Not entirely sold on the front yet, but it appears to be more aggressive than the real thing. 2 new flex axles, 7L dark blue!! and 19L (?) in medium blue. (PLEASE, Lego, PLEASE!!!!) -
Quick UPDATE: Most of the color vomit parts have been replaced!! 1. 75% of the parts I ordered were ones I didn't have in black, i.e. the rear suspension arms are now in black, along with the 5x7 frame in the rear. 2. I will post photos tomorrow, I really shouldn't be up this late already... But Lego. You know how it is. 3. @sirslayer That makes some sense... Thanks for the cool information!
