  1. Looks great, and I like the inclusion of the working steering.
  2. @steph77 I solved that issue long ago, the entire front axle module is complete now. It will be added in a week or so, as I will be building the rest of the chassis soon.
  3. Where did that rumor come from?! I haven't heard anything about small black shocks anywhere... Unless they are in the mysterious BLACKEDout 42083...
  4. UPDATE: Gearbox done, connected to the drivetrain and rear axle. Figured out the gearbox on my own, it now shifts 1-2-3-R sequentially. I'll be adding a shifter mechanism soon, you can see the attachment points for the red levers below the driving rings. Before I finish that though, I'm working on adding the fake engine above the rear axle. [WIP] Ariel Nomad
  5. YEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! FOUR POINTS!!! Thanks a lot!
  6. That means you are using a live axle with multiple links. Good way to go.
  7. UPDATE: I'm still stuck. Here is what I have now, but I still cannot get the proper gear sequence. With the red input, the first gear on that axle is reverse, and then first. Please, @Didumos69 do you or anyone else smarter than me want to help me and point out what I did wrong? 3+R Gearbox V1.1 Aquaman for scale. It's pretty compact, about ideal size for my Nomad. 3+R Gearbox V1.1
  8. UPDATE: I screwed up the gearbox... I was messing with the gearbox, trying to add a shifter to it... And I realized I have the gears out of order. 1-2 on one side, 3-R on the other. Crap. That doesn't work. Currently, I'm working on another version of my 3+R, hopefully I'll get it right this time, it shouldn't be too hard, I don't think.... Just need to have a central output driveshaft for this to work.
  9. I like how this has started. Looks good so far, I'll follow this project for sure. Suspension is essential, over all else.
  10. @allanp I too am hoping for an offroader model, we haven't had anything since the 9398/41999. Maybe a Mercedes AMG G63. And while I'm dreaming, the 6x6 version.
  11. Servants of Freedom 1 Servants of Freedom 2 Having safely smuggled his package from Jim to his safe house, Caesar set about opening the package and examining its contents.... [GBW-SoF] Shipment "Holy... A megablocking RPG! This is perfect for our plans! I need to get some logistics, recon, and intel work done immediately..." 48 hours later, a meeting of the Servants of Freedom leaders occurred. In attendance were, Caesar, Group I leader, Ralph, Group IV leader, and Beth, Group VI leader. All were leaders in Xenor's capital of Millingsburg, all with aspirations of governmental change, and all with the will to make these changes happen now. [GBW-SoF] Plotting [GBW] Caesar Young "Our goal, currently, is to have the government change it's structure. In order to that, we have been publishing articles, and recently, another cell took over a Xenor radio station. We are getting the attention of more and more people now, and many are joining our cause. The leaders of our organization have decided that serious action must be taken, as the RoN is invading Xenor in retaliation. In order---" [GBW] Beth Morrow "How serious? What repercussions might result from this 'serious action'?" [GBW] Ralph Koper "Yes, just what kind of action we going to be taking?" [GBW] Caesar Young "We are going to attempt a process of selective elimination of high-ranking government officials that are---" [GBW] Beth Morrow "Assassination, you mean?! That's what we're gonna be doing?!" [GBW] Caesar Young "If you choose to use that term, yes. We are going to assassinate one or more officials. Do you have problem with that?" [GBW] Beth Morrow "I just... I don't know if that's---" [GBW] Ralph Koper "No. It must be done ensure our freedom." [GBW] Caesar Young "There is no other way! The RoN is invading, we must help them! We are perfect for this job, we can take out plenty of leaders here, stage other attacks, and fight with them to ensure they succeed!" [GBW] Beth Morrow "Fine. Do it. But leave me out of the plans. Contact individual members of my cell if you must." [GBW-SoF] Plotting [GBW] Caesar Young "Thank you. I'll get started immediately. Ralph, I need your cell to go and recon..." Part 3 Coming Soon! Thanks for checking this out, feel free to give C&C. More photos on Flickr. And for those who like the skull art, LDD is here. - Leonardo da Bricki EDIT: My apologies for some of the formatting in the dialogue, I cannot change it. Judges, please look at the spoiler, it has images of the whole build for you!
  12. Absolutely stunning build! I love the attention to detail here, the X-Wing looks astounding! And that R2 unit... Perfect. I second the request for instructions, or at least a few photos of the internals. I must have this for my shelf!!!
  13. Got this done in my free period, a quick-and-dirty 3+R. More later tonight. And I forgot Aquaman for scale. [WIP] 3+R Gearbox
  14. 1. I am starting to agree with you, because even though the gearbox is now much smaller than before, I still have no good way to add a shifting mechanism to it. 3+R, though it's less accurate, would probably be the better way to go, as I can then have a center console shifter that's (almost) to scale. I'll work on that today, see if I can get it done... 2. Thanks. I just wish there was an easy way to mount the engine, since there is no room to have the chain drive running from the axle... I think I have a way to make it work, but that won't come for a while. I need to complete (start) the chassis before that.
  15. UPDATE: I have been tinkering with the gearbox a good bit, and there is no good way to make this design smaller, at least not that I have found. So I am going to change the gearbox a bit, and try to add a reverse gear, to be a bit more realistic. The actual Ariel Nomad has a 6+R gearbox, but that would a pain to try to make. A 5+R is good enough for me, plus, it will be smaller overall then the one i am currently using. I'm slowly getting an understanding of how this works, so here goes nothing. I'll add photos later tonight, if possible.
  16. Very nice work, I would take this excellent MOC over 42056 any day! Only thing to add is that the front fenders and hood could be bit more curvy, they're a bit flat currently. And thumbs up for adjustable seats!
  17. @suffocation I don't think so. Do you know what topic it's posted in? I can probably RE it if the photos are good enough.
  18. I think you're good! That's an amazing collection there, I cannot imagine how much those all cost...
  19. Been working on the gearbox design, many thanks to DGustafsson13 on rebrickable for the original design and gear ratios used here! If you're here on EuroBricks, come take the credit! As for a shifting mechanism, well, it's a lot harder for six speeds... I think I have way to do it though. Kind of. One problem is the size of it. As you can see, it is incredibly bulky. And I don't know how to shrink it. As for the second problem... easier said then done. I'll explain more with the photos below. [WIP] 6-speed Gearbox As you can see... It's huge. Aquaman for scale. Keep in mind that most of the frame is 100% temporary, and can/will be changed in some way at some point. [WIP] 6-speed Gearbox Bottom view. As you can see, I have a mechanism for sliding the red shifter back-and-forth, however, it doesn't reach as far as it needs to. To work properly, it would need to move around 0.75 to 1.25 studs farther, side-to-side. I'm not sure how to solve this problem. Before you mention, yes, I am aware the red shifter is locked, it's simply to hold it in place while I'm building. Oh yeah, Lego, please make an 11L link! @I_Igor I am still not sure how it's going to fit in above the axle, so we shall see if it does get bricks around it.
  20. Not bad, the shaping is excellent, and the mechanics should work well... But the color scheme needs a little tweaking, IMHO. Maybe if the blue stripe went all the way along the car from front to back, instead of just the door area, it would look a bit nicer and more coordinated.
  21. I saw the video a while back, I've been waiting for this to show up! It's an awesome little car, with insane performance! I don't think it's possible to add another L-motor to that chassis, but please, prove me wrong!
  22. Wow.... Incredible build! Hall of Fame for this beast!
  23. Hello again! I am back, with a very, very, VERY much overdue progress report. I am sad to say that I have not figured out a way to implement uneven arms in the rear suspension for this scale model. Perhaps in the future, a larger one, scaled to 98mm Unimog tires, perhaps with Claas tires (sand tires) on the rear axle, would work. A few photos below of some of the designs I tried. As you can see, even a half-stud offset is just too much, it keeps the wheel at an angle all the time, not just when the suspension is compressed. Failed Axle Failed Axle Compressed Now, I have begun working on a shifter mechanism, and adding the fake engine above the axle. In the real Nomad, it is chain driven, and I believe I can implement that here. I never realized until now how much more space there is when you don't need a battery box or motors. I could get used to this... [WIP] Ariel Nomad Axles 4.who knows... [WIP] Ariel Nomad Engine: Straight-4
  24. Simply beautiful, classic CS lines and colors, great work!
  25. @Ivan_M That makes sense, if you have that much tubing to pump air though, of course it will be slower.
