  1. The detail and realism is very impressive! Is that part above th xl motor a digger bucket? Clever use as a panel.
  2. Hi Darryl, have you gone through the solutions on the axle collection thread? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92099 Since you have a servo, I'm sure there will be a solution using it. Perhaps one where you don't need to gear it down. When testing the steering lock, try first by hand, without a motor or wheels and with the classis in the air. That way you can get a good sense of the friction and rotation angles required to turn the wheels. Good luck!
  3. Great to see that it has an XL and not some smaller motor typically seen in small builds like this. I personally have no issue with the battery or IR placement. Good little experiment!
  4. Nice development from the V1! Smaller, lighter and lower. Looks very capable! I was wondering how you attached the 3rd party wheels to the Technic hubs... Is that a large yellow sprocket wheel we see inside?
  5. Really love the amount of detail and how compact the build is! Instructions would be awesome. Could you tell us or show us a little more about your studio and lighting setup? The pictures are so clear!
  6. Welcome to EB. If you type 42005 into rebrickable, it will come up: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/slfroden/motorized-and-rc-42005-monster-truck
  7. Very cool chassis you have here with many unique features! Great performance too with all those motors!
  8. I was also surprised to see that so many people hated the look of it, comparing it to a crashed car:
  9. Looking outside of the Technic range the price is similar to other large sets. The Sydney Opera House has 2989 parts, costs 299€ and has no functions either. The SHIELD Helicarrier is 349€ and has less than 3000 parts too. I wonder if they have similar price rants in their respective forums on EB. On the other hand, the 42009 mobile crane MKII had 2600 parts for under 200€ and included functions. Clearly better value per part. Personally my decision regarding the Porsche will be when I see the tally of missing part prices on Bricklink. I'm mainly interested in the new wheels and parts, not the display set.
  10. And an "Inception" style spinning top. So versatile!
  11. Totally love it! The whole package is stunning! The wheels give it a great aspect of realism. Glad that PoloFreak gave you the idea.
  12. Deserves to be there! Well done! ...and what a well made magazine too.
  13. Truly outstanding! Building this small is so much trickier than building huge. Well done on making yet another excellent model. And thanks for showing the backstage camera work! Love the motorized setup you created!
  14. Awesome model Lipko! @ Polo-Freak: Your build is amazing in white and blue. It's very cool to see you using the SevenStuds wheel covers! Thanks!
  15. Too beautiful for words! Bravo!!
  16. Straight from the guys at SBrick: "If you really want more power, consider using RC car/plane batteries. I used a 2S 7.4V LiCoO2 1500 mAh battery for my early SBrick stress tests, costs 1/4 of a LEGO LiPo and lasts 2x more (but you also need a charger). It has 25C capacity so in theory you can get 37.5 A (play safe, please)." You can read more here to find out about the amp limits per SBrick port: https://social.sbrick.com/forums/topic/103/sbrick-and-5292-rc-motor As a thought, if you're using 3rd party motors and batteries, why not just go all the way and just use a full hobby/RC setup with remote and receiver? (Since clearly purism is not something you're after.)
  17. Hands down perfection! Wow! Are the handrails done using bent rigid hoses? Did you heat them to that shape? All the details look so very very neat!
  18. This is exactly the reason why I wish all the PF motors had NXT type connectors. The small PF wires are really fragile. There are videos on YT showing how to repair this, but if you can get replacements from LEGO, that's probably better.
  19. I prefer one post per completed model. I think having an accumulation thread is ok for works in progress and ongoing discussions like the ones for custom tires, technic photography, etc. Oh, and one pro of having an individual thread is that it's required for a model to be considered for the HOF :)
  20. Fantastic performance! When I saw your carrot crawler a few months ago, it helped a lot in choosing tires for my last build. They are so sticky it feels like they could ride upside down :)
  21. Very nice to see the good technical skills you have! Well done on your video! The best way forward, in my opinion, is to print it and simply build an amazing MOC with it. Since making new parts is what nearly threw LEGO off the financial cliff in 2003, I can understand why you're having a hard time in getting them to give you the response you're expecting. The way I see it, LEGO makes sets first, and only makes new parts when that particular set really requires it. According to this article (https://www.quora.com/How-much-does-it-cost-for-Lego-to-make-a-completely-different-block-for-1-or-2-sets-only) it takes £50-100K to create a production mould for one new part. The article also mentions that it can take as long as 9 years for a part to go from concept to stores. I personally love new parts, but I'd rather not spend 9 years hanging around hoping and waiting for LEGO to listen to its fans when I can print it and have it at my doorstep in 9 days thanks to services like Shapeways.
  22. There are a number of ways. One that I think works well is using two 4x4 technic bricks with open centers (part 32324). You can also use 4 pairs of 11458 plus 18677 on the top and bottom with bracing so they don't come appart.
  23. Have you tried the one in "The Unofficial LEGO® Technic Builder’s Guide" ? It's called an " automated pressure switch" on page 123.
  24. What a brilliant find! I love dusty models stored by people who loose track of their value. One wash and it's as good as new. Nice job in combining those PF elements. Hope you figure out how to fix that motor axle and gear.
