  1. Yes, 8815 was one of my first. I've seen that Mindstorms droid developer kit before. Is it functional still? I wonder who's idea that Znap theme was! :D
  2. Nice and neat build Anto! The opening elements and very nicely done. Black wheels plus a white adhesive vinyl around the edge There are better ways to spend $52.
  3. This is my favorite view from your photo's: Very impressive figure! The proportions are very realistic, just as you mentioned, he could do with some Christmas turkey for that waistline. Great job!
  4. It does indeed seem that the Technic is really a "vehicle" theme as much as the castle theme is all about... buildings Since most sets are either of these two, it's mainly the vehicles that are appreciated for their technical aspects. There are a few non-Technic sets that contain some interesting technical features (the motorized AT-AT is my favorite), and many vehicle sets that are not considered "Technic" because they don't have steering or suspension. If you have a robotic/articulated MOC, definitely share it here. You can also check out this thread for more inspiration: Non-vehicle sets & MOCs
  5. Very nice acceleration. Have you tried to measure the speed?
  6. That is a lot of pins. Back in the studded days there was not such a need for them. The other day I was checking parts and rebuilding the pneumatic excavator from 1992 (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=8837-1) and I was surprised that it only had 27 friction pins. That's just over 10% of total parts.
  7. Oh, the Blacktron days. Its very recognizable indeed. Nice that you paid attention to the sticker on the center, front slope. Love the overload of motors. I assume you're going to show us some of that BTron Drift action?
  8. Again, very smooth filming and it looks like a very fun, usable build that is better than those that TLG sells. Why the big hats and dark glasses?
  9. Was it the BlueSmartControll? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=108520
  10. As another potential option to SBrick, it's good that they considered the battery. It's one of my main issues with SBrick: that it relies on LEGO batteries, which cut out too early when certain motors demand more juice. That said, I still don't know what the maximum current output would be for their battery and how many motors the unit could power. It seems to handle 4 XL's on the Maus which is a great start. I would personally want the current limitation to be similar to the unit that came in the 8475 and 8366 RC sets: around 3-4A. Their website says there is a turbo mode after the fast mode. Is this still the case? In terms of the units physical design, making it the same size as existing AAA/rechargeable boxes is great for compatibility into train sets etc. I wouldn't mind seeing some pin holes on the narrow sides as well. Best of luck for the campaign!
  11. I had no idea that old fluorescent lights emitted UV light, so I'm glad I saw this. Also found more info related to lighting on this thread: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=51337
  12. Honestly love these "surprise builds" that are nothing like what we've seen before. The mustache and cigarette are a nice touch!
  13. Great little build! Clean and to the point as usual. Its great how building at this scale gives the motors ideal performance.
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. I really like the ideas of using felt or rubberized mats.
  15. Very much like the exterior color scheme and overall facade design. The glass gives it fantastic realism. It's got style!
  16. Having tried a few options, I'm still wondering what the best surface is to build on. I find that anything too smooth, like a table, makes small or round parts roll or slide off too easily. I have been using a white beach towel, which has enough friction to keep parts in place, but it still folds too easily. Has anyone found an ideal surface to work on, besides a table (or carpet)?
  17. Well, it did make me laugh. As Steve Jobs also tells us, LSD is an excellent "external resource".
  18. Love the angles you get with those suspension arms. Just wish TLG made them in black. Do you have any plans to make any of your MOCs drift?
  19. Google images, the netcarshow app, and I also like using the LEGO size grids from BrickGun. That's quite a combination. I've never tried building with LSD yet ;)
  20. So here is something a little different involving Technic photography: I recently had to make a birthday card and had the idea to make a composition of a kid sitting on a Technic quad. The challenge was getting the camera angles to gel together for the final composition to work. The quad was shot in front of a green screen and extracted using after effects. Photoshop was then used to add a background, ground reflections and the RedBull decals. Original photo: Result: More photos.
  21. The functions on your bike are just excellent! So compact and detailed. The thread-pully system is genius. I'd personally love to see one or two stickers on those large side panels. Subscribed to your channel. Thanks.
  22. The Porsche 911 is retailing for €269 in South Africa (after currency conversion) but is out of stock for now.
  23. Nice touch adding those speakers ;) That Ferrari had no chance.
  24. Yes, you can connect 1 RC motor to 1 regular battery box. Note that the performance will be slightly less than connecting it to the RC receiver due to current limits on the newer battery boxes. In my opinion, It's still better to use the SBrick and battery setup as the RC receivers are bulky, expensive and the antenna is prone to bending.
  25. This reminds me exactly of the time Windows 8 came out and we know how that story ended.
