  1. It was a good idea to look at other great MOC builds and incorporate what you liked in either. Nice result you have there!
  2. This is interesting. For other projects how and where can you get other moulds? If you can't make the moulds yourself to be compatible, I understand that there could be a barrier as to what you can make. Otherwise I love the quality the purple wheel has. Keep us updated with any new designs!
  3. Just amazing! The detail and realism is a real inspiration just like the other models. Building something this compact with all the PF elements so well hidden is a huge challenge. I personally have no problems with the hoses, and would happily use the same.
  4. I didn't know that 2.2 would fit. That's good news then! Happy to see the photos if you get them.
  5. This is a great site! Some good choice here. Are these 1.9 inch that you're looking at? They seldom give the inner diameter in mm so I find it difficult to tell. I won't be surprised to see more balloons rolling around. Some new treads would certainly be due!
  6. Isn't that what everyone said about the Hulk? I suppose you're entering TC9 where your skills for official sets will come in handy? Very nice model BTW! Love the details underneath as well!
  7. Oh, I see, didn't realize it was fixed already since you mentioned that you couldn't fit it.
  8. Since you're changing the front so much, my vote goes to the one you did on 15 Nov, just all in 1 colour. How is that IR placement coming?
  9. Putting the balloon tire on a scale and pushing down I get slight bulging at 1.2kg (one wheel) For two joined together, I can apply 3kg without too much deformation. Since you have 10 wheels, I would say it could carry several kgs without a hitch.
  10. Brilliant model there! The front hood and sides look very clean. I agree about the IR receiver, but I understand the challenge of hiding that bulky thing, while still letting enough of it show.
  11. Firstly, I think the wheels that you have already look perfectly appropriate for what you have built. Any reason why you want to change them? Is it just to modernize the inventory for the instructions? If you have to choose the another set, I would go for the 55976. The others look too "street" or "runway" in my opinion. The balloon tires with the same dishes will also keep with the rounded look of the model.
  12. I'm happy they reached their goal on Kickstarter and it's looking successful so far, but saying that "Research shows that one of the most effective ways for kids to learn problem solving is through coding & robotics" seems a bit too convenient for their purpose. Personally I think scouts is a better teaching ground for problem solving, but that's just me. If this all about getting a cheaper alternative to Mindstorms, shouldn't it be compatible with something else? I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like MB or altBricks buy them out.
  13. For that price, you're getting only 89 unique parts from the 2445 total, and almost all the soft axles come in one length per colour. If you find it super cheap, why not, otherwise this looks like a good bulk buy for a Bricklink shop.
  14. The rear view is looking excellent. Now I'm curious about the Electrics that will be going in... Or will your 9v leads only be for led lights?
  15. Seems like you have a good setup there! Thanks for the extra pic. I really wouldn't mind having a very slim casing with pin holes for these batteries. I've used the old 9v boxes, but the studs and bulk don't appeal. I've seen people put tiny switches on the lead connected to the battery to solve what you're talking about. Still not always the easiest to integrate neatly. Hope to see a video if you're making one!
  16. Cool, it rocks! Must have good power to weight! I'm curions: how well did the single 9v battery holding up with all 3 motors? The L motors have quite high current draw. Could you show how you installed it?
  17. In your original first post you built your buggy next to his, and now your call was heard! I love the side by side front view by the way. I agree, it does smell like a race is in the air :)
  18. The rechargeable ones are in Horizon Express and Emerald Night sets. If you get it separately, just remember the #8887 transformer.
  19. This is off topic to rodor's tech question, but did you see the angry comments for that video? Can't believe that when Nathan Thom, the creator of Rebrickable, wants to do a crane review to see if it actually lifts anything, people explode in fury. What would people say if it was reviewed on "will it blend"?
  20. There are about 6 train sets with Power Functions that have it, otherwise Bricklink.
  21. Nicely done! The PF elements look well hidden and overall a very neatly made model. Finding the right tires is tricky at this scale, but Zblj is right, a more street style tire would work well.
  22. As far as I know, the centre to centre dimension is exactly 8mm. Single stud bricks, for example, are roughly 7.82mm so that they don't push themselves apart when stacked together. Don't know if that answers the FLU discussion that has started. As far as the irregular sequence of soft axle lengths, isn't this just because a new length was only introduced when a particular set was created that needed that length. Why make a 9L if you don't release a set needing that length?
  23. It's good you added the reference photo. The front and hood is nicely done.
  24. That's good news! Looks like only the dirt grabbers require cutting with their thick inner edges. Thanks for the instructions :)
  25. Clean, beautiful, magic! The stickers and video will definitely be worth the effort!
