My third AT-DP polybag Dont really have the money for bigger sets right now, and i do love me some polybags, it will join its two brothers (and the other imperial microfighters and minifigs) on my Imperial shelf.

FWIW, 42048 is a decent parts pack, it has a frame, lift-arms, panels in various shapes, sizes and colours, and it is the cheapest set ever to my knowledge to include a gearbox. And 42044 is brilliant for panels, even if it doesnt have a lot of mechanical bits. I agree though, the two sets i mentioned are the only ones i bought from this years wave, and that will likely stay like that. Meanwhile from last year i LOVE 42036 and 42039, and 37 and 42 are still on the "to buy" list

(MOC) (LDD) First Order Special Forces AT-ST

Reminds me of Harley Quinn -
Awesome update! Im considering getting the tyiderium and re-enlisting it into imperial service, so a chart of which minfigs is handy for figuring out what a competent shuttle crew should be

No offense and all, but since you already have both, arent you the best person to say which set works the best in terms of spare parts for your needs? I'd go AROCS myself though, its not an endless mess of yellow, and has pneumatics

That looks awesome! I tried the same with the 42022 hotrod a while back, but given that i only have the AA battery box, i kind of gave up on the idea of doing the kart, no way i could fit that monster in there neatly. If you want to, you could lose the dif and use a higher gear ratio for higher top-speed and more kart-like handling by the way

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Vectormatic replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yup, the novel actually made me look somewhat favorably at Ep I, knowing what is going on behind the scenes, leading up to the movie etc.. really adds to the story I'd love a set with Plagueis, he would make a good addition to my collection of sith lords -
[MOC] Porsche 911
Vectormatic replied to Lox Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Its not a bad mock, but if you'd shown this two weeks earlier (before the pic of the official 911 set) it wouldve look a LOT better. -
That looks really cool, awesome moc!

There probably a few places in the chassis where missing one of those wouldnt immediately make the entire build floppy as hell, the core structure of big modern sets is quite strong, so yeah, missing one of those sounds like a real option. What color is your extra beam? that might give some clues as to where you might have missed it

Well, with that price on the porsche, ive got one word for Lego: LOLNOPE It might be well worth it for the amount of parts and possibly PF stuff, but €300 is just waaaay out of range for a set for me without really hitting the X-factor (and a porsche 911 doesnt quite do it for me) The BWE seems like a good deal though, nearly 4K parts for €230, even if there are a LOT of tracks in there

Well, just got my BL order, and set to modding the kart I did the steering mod (which does steer a lot better, although there is some gear-skip near the full-lock positions), and replaced the orange/purple mess with Octan-style Red/white/green, it freshens up the entire kart quite a bit from the dark purple, it also matches the already present white/red connectors and bushes in the build much better I might need to finetune the coloring a bit, and i desperately need a whole bunch of custom Octan stickers, but so far my Octan racing team is shaping up quite nicely (42000 and 42039 also have been modded to Octan colors)

2016 Speed Champions Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vectormatic replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Town
Do those mustang tail lights look like prints to anyone else? Im not seeing the sticker edges, same goes for the black stripes on the front of the R18 -
Awesome little build, if you still remember, did you need a lot of extra pieces on top of 60053? I might mod mine.

1) Generally speaking, you wont quickly wear out any axles etc.. if you stick to normal PF stuff, and dont daisychain a whole lot of engines together all through a single axle. The easiest way to keep things "safe" and fast is to keep your vehicle relatively light, as that will require less torque/strain on axles/bearings. 3) buggy motors are the highest performance motors we have at our disposal, and for really quick builds are pretty much a must, they eat a lot of current though, so be prepared to supply that. Also, the buggy motor has two differently geared outputs, meaning you can generally use them without having to put much gearing/axles between motor and wheel, reducing the amount of parts which might get damaged by too much load.

42056 - Porsche Speculation
Vectormatic replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You, looks like a gear right underneath there, which would make sense to link the HOG input to the steering wheel -
Entirely personal, im mostly into cars, and with the porsche costing €300 (or more in my country), the only two sets out of the whole 2016 lineup i like enough to buy are the display team jet and the go-kart (both of which i already have), the rest doesnt float my boat, so ill probably spend the rest of the year on older sets (ive got 8070, and oddly 42042 on the wish list) or moccing/modding. 2015 was a lot better for me in that respect
-
Yeah, the €200 ballpark for 80% of the parts was just one shop, and all used parts, another shop got me above €600, but they only sell new, price high, and probably included a whole bunch of PF parts as well Ill definitely look into brickficiency, and good deals on sets as part packs if i decide to build something like this, i do have some spares myself, but i tend to keep my larger sets intact
-
Thanks! Didnt think of that (havent really used rebrickable yet), i ended up finding ~1600 out of ~2000 parts for roughly €200, using the PF parts list (although that €200 doesnt include any PF), so im guessing a purely mechanical version would be doable for ~€250, unless i missed some very rare parts in this quick search. This isnt something i would be diving into soon, but i was quite curious how expensive MOCs like this are, now that im comfortable with bricklink, this stuff is more interesting then the regular TLG sets.

Im totally getting the cargo plane, it looks awesome Should look great next to the utility shuttle and air ambulance (which i still need to get)

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Vectormatic replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow, so Lego are doing their own offshoot of SW canon for those sets? That's my interest out the window There is soooo much material both in new canon and Legends that could be tapped for awesome sets, quite a shame for them to ignore all that. -
So Guys, Does anyone have a rough estimate of how much it would cost to bricklink all the parts for this model, either with the PF parts, or with a Fake V8 and basic gearbox? The new porsche announcement got me thinking, im not a big porsche fan, but a similar scope car would be right up my alley, and im a big fan of touring cars (if someone does a 2011 4 door C AMG, id have a little crisis)
