42056 - Porsche Speculation
Vectormatic replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
THE defining part of the 911 design (besides looking like a flattened VW Beetle) is the 6 cylinder boxer engine (so, flat) behind the rear axle, it shouldnt be visible through the read window etc.. The entire space where the engine should be is covered entirely in panels right now, so there is no telling what is in there, PF motors, fake engine etc.. Color-wise, ill just throw this out there, if they make the thing purple, price point wont matter, i wont get it (there are unique new panels in there, and even if there werent, the cost of changing the color would be insane) -

The space between the wheels looks to be roughly similar between the 599 and 911 though, and the 599 has relatively small wheels for the car its supposed to be (and pretty open wheelarches) I cant help but think Lego wouldnt be stupid enough to put out a set aimed squarely at AFOL car nuts and get the scale on the box wrong, so i still assume its 1:10 Porsche is redo-ing their 911 RSR for WEC this year (since Ford is bringing the heat with the GT, and Ferrari are replacing the 458 with the 488), and while the current RSR is homologated on the Carrera model (since the GT3 wasnt in production back then), GT2 evolved into GTE, so having a RSR update based on a GT2 makes a lot of sense. Launching the new RSR and GT2 this spring with the lego model in tow would be a cool move. Either way, all speculation, and honestly im much more interested in the price TBH, at this point im actually hoping it isnt filled with PF gubbins etc.. since if they do a purely mechanical build, it might actually end up in a price-bracket which i would consider -

Agreed on the color, if lego keeps doing these sets with one off colors, moccing decently will become a nightmare. As for the suspenion, in the video i think i can see the front upper suspension arms through the gaps on either side of the hood, and they seem to be at a slightly angle, suggesting suspension, itll have to be damn stiff though, given the ground clearance. -

It looks like a porsche allright, and the bodywork is impressive BUT, it still is a 1:10 scale car, like 8653 and 8145. Now obviously this model has more filled in bodywork, presumably more technical features (the ferraris were really sparse with that), and some custom parts, but i dont see how a build that size would warrant a $300 pricetag, unless they crammed it with PF parts. Id pay €150-200 for a set like this, from what im seeing now, €300 gets you straight into highest quality MOC territory, and honestly, there are many, many cars i would prefer to display over a 911 -

This bothers me the most, if you google BWE, not a single machine looks like this, the length of the arm simply doesnt allow effective mining unless you drive close to the quarry wall, and drive more then use the arm. -

Generally speaking the battlepack vehicles/extras tend to be just stuff made up by lego, i havent played the game yet, but i think this is just something made up as well, it looks stationary to me, like a command point with some strategic displays etc.. -
An A-wing polybag Not a big Rebel Alliance fan, but ive got a weak spot for small fast starfighter, and with the A-wing descending from the mighty Eta-2, how could i not? plus i love polybags

[MOD] Alpha-5 Nova-class Starfighter (7915)
Vectormatic replied to 382nd Legionnaire's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That looks a lot better then the normal V-wing -
Do you have any picks of the modded interceptor? Im an OT/Empire guy myself, but i have a weak spot for the Eta-2, even built my own blacked out Darth Vader Interceptor.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Vectormatic replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, looks like ill be giving the Tie/A-wing set a pass then, itll come up to €100-110 probably, and i dont need a new Tie that badly. -
Fair point, im just not expecting lego to make anything with the detail level/density of high level MOCs, every set ive bought in the past few years falls well short of that mark. I havent gotten any of the recent flagships though, so i might be wrong in my assessment (not a big fan of construction stuff, so recent flagships have been uninteresting to me)

A car the size of 8880, but costing €300? I have a hard time seeing that without a bunch of PF, the size just isnt there for the mechanical complexity to warrant that price, they could build the thing out of tumbler tires and it still wouldnt be worth it... Ive already picked up 42044 and 42048, so looks like im done with technic for this years lineup, maybe pick up 42042 or a pullback racer.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Vectormatic replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
They could show up in Rebels, which just started up again, or could be Rogue One sets, IIRC the movie will hit end of the year, so this wouldnt be any different from the TFA sets we got last september. "Star Scavenger" sounds like it could fit into a movie titled "Rogue One" -

A tiny part of me thinks they missed a 1 in the price, but surely Lego wouldnt dare ask 130 quid for something like this? Looking at the leaked box shot from a while back i really dont see how they could price Tie+A-wing lower then last years Tie-proto, but if they do... count me in -
Just finished putting the set together, and i already have bricklink order out for the steering mod, and some extra green panels (not tearing down my 42039 for this) to mod it to a proper Octan style kart rather then purple/orange Other then the steering and somewhat odd color scheme (i really cant imagine using those purple panels for anything, ever), this is a really good set, cant think of what i'd want to mod/improve further.
