  1. Yup, they were the cheapest option for a set of somewhat road-like tires for me, outside of getting 42021 or bricklinking. And honestly right now my main problem is a lack of parts in the parts bin, i dont have the parts available for a proper suspension setup, so ill be going un-sprung for now.
  2. Amazing job Jurss! Instead of just buying 42021 i figured i should give proper MOCing a go, so i bought 42035 (for the wheels mainly) and set out to make a properly proportioned chassis (with the wheels as reference) And i got stuck on the front axle I do have a set of the new ball-joint suspension arms, but the accompanying steering links make it very hard to get a proper width and working steering... And i dont have the parts (shocks and UV joints) to do proper rear suspension, so im considering just going non-sprung chassis.
  3. Thanks! Interesting little build by the way
  4. Easy, look at the three pins horizontally connecting the top frame part, they can be slid outwards, or for constructions, build the cube with those pins centered in the upright frameparts, put the top frame in, then push the pins inward locking the top frame into position
  5. Ah right, i hadnt spotted that the dif was free floating in that design, got it now!
  6. Cool! Is the diff free floating, and does it move as the suspension flexes?
  7. Good find, that is 4.5 studs including the pivot point if im seeing it correctly, not sure how it would fit exactly, but that type of arms/hubs would indeed work
  8. Hmm, i see what you mean with the front suspension, that is VERY little space to work in any springs/arms, and the steering geometry would get ducked up as well, introducing bump steer. As for the rear, i'd hope the suspension arms from the snow mobile from a few years back might work, but those are 5 studs long, and probably wont allow for a driveshaft in between with any decent amount of motion. Now im thinking maybe make a rigid axle assembly for the back with the diff in it, put that thing on a few non friction pins and shocks, wouldnt be independent, but better then no suspension at all. The front looks like a macpherson strut type thing might fit better then double wishbones, but i have no idea how to do that compactly in technic Im getting really tempted to pick this set up though, the B-model has always intrigued me, and this just confirms the modding potential
  9. this: http://shop.lego.com/de-DE/Porsche-911-GT3-RS-42056 shows €299 for me
  10. Love this thread! And i kind of want this set as well, for the B-model, my only gripe is the lack of proper suspension on a €70 set, but that might be fixable right? The rest all looks really cool as a base for a performance tuned car.
  11. After seeing some GT3s in action at Spa this weekend im getting more and more tempted by this kit Im a bit peeved by the fact that we dutchmen get to pay an extra 10% over other european countries though, €330 instead of €300 for the germans for instance, ill be buying it at or below €300 if i decide to go for it, ill gladly take a trip to germany/belgium for it.
  12. I swore to myself no more lego purchases the next few months (other stuff to worry about), but i scraped up some extra cash, and that R18 is calling me....
  13. In my case, doubt it, shops here tend to go buy lego MSRP (in some cases +10%), Lego though, has been upping some prices over here, all the €30 SW sets this year are suddenly €35 MSRP for us. BPs have gone from €15 to €17 MSRP
  14. They just hit shops here in the netherlands, but prices are insane, €20 (up from €15) for the single cars :O
  15. I just spotted the whole wave here in the netherlands, loose cars are 20 euros, the porsche set 90, ridiculous :( Ill be buying these only if i can find a good discount, another big price hike like this is very disappointing At this rate i might as wel give up lego for proper cars
  16. Those look pretty good, a tad lower then the speed champions cars i think, but much more accurate to the real thing as a result I might need to re-build that 308, although i'd want to make it a GTB rather then a GTS (308 GTB is my favorite old ferrari after the F40)
  17. What would postage to the netherlands be? I wouldnt mind picking up the 919H and 917K for a fair price if you feel like splitting a set.
  18. That is an amazing MoC, i love the use of shock absorbers on the doors and rear engine cover, the spoiler and hood are such a nice touch (love the picnic basket) Would it be possible to integrated a gearbox into the design?
  19. As a recent WEC/le-mans convert, id love that! The 458GT2 is easily my favorite from the first line, although the 911 RSR looks good as well Fingers crossed for a GTE Vantage and a TS040/050 next year!
  20. Thanks for another good review J2G! On the subject of the cars, the rake on the Z28 is insane, again... Honestly they should have designed it so that putting a normal size tire on the back would result in a normal non-raked stance, but no, lego had to rake the **** out of it again. Otherwise it is a good looking model The 2016 car, looks good, but those oddly textured roof tiles and the rear are weak points, they could have easily used two of those round bushes rather then sticker on two round exhausts.. And im expecting this set to be horribly overpriced in europe again, $30 will probably translate to €40-45
  21. Wow, i had no idea there was such a big part of AFOLs who consider technic to not be lego Maybe its because i grew up on studful, and always loved technic as a kid, but studless technic is just as much lego to me as anything else
  22. Thanks for the review J2G! Im surprised by the suspension on the Raptor, and the engine-swap on the model-A is nice as well, even if the second "engine" doesnt particularly look like something id expect in a model-A I think the Rake on the model-A is over the top though, it is slanted way too far forward, looking at pics of the real thing, any rake is generally the result of the front and rear tires being different sizes, this model also has the front and rear axles offset quite a bit if im seeing it right. This set will be a pass for me probably, since im not THAT big of a hot-rod/raptor fan, but it is a cool set nonetheless, actually makes me wonder if they could do a seperate sub-theme with simpler cars, that Hot-rod looks small/simple enough that they could sell it for €10 rather then €15 for the main line cars. Just not sure what other cars would fit well, maybe a classic mini cooper rally car?
  23. Wouldnt that devalue OPs lot? Either way, i say get rid of em if you can get a decent price I had a clone army as well for a while, but decided to get rid of it, and focus on my Imperial army, i dont have the disposable income or space to properly army build two factions (after all, ive got different themes to keep up with as well, Technic, Speed Champions, cool cars in general)
  24. In that case, my compliments for your sticker-sticking skills, for making it look so seamless! And as for the spoiler, all will be forgiven, provided you get it right for the R18 ;)
  25. Agreed, i dont have a fetish for pure old school bricks, but if they replace the old style brick construction but manage to still make the custom part look inaccurate for some reason, that is disappointing They might be very nice for other themes/sets, but as A-wing stabilizers? nah
