LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Vectormatic replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Personally im just shocked at the price, the recent new style Ties look amazing, but are waaaaay overpriced, and now they are bundling the Tie advanced with some extra build, and a ~$100 pricetag is going to translate to ~€110-120, for probably ~700-800 parts (if recent pricing is an indication, although <700 is a very real option as well). That extra build is going to have to be a solid gold Eta-2 or something for me to buy a set like that.... The rest of the wave doesnt look too exciting either for me, no good imperial army building stuff :( The three unnamed sets might be good, but im expecting them to be TFA, and im reserving judgement on any TFA stuff until ive seen the movie -

One billion - yes, billion - stormtrooper minifigures
Vectormatic replied to AmperZand's topic in LEGO Star Wars
the article doesnt say, it does show a pic of a stormie and snowie minifig though (and then quickly veers off into a tangent about how stormies wouldnt stand a chance at taking over the world because armour and targetting sucks etc..) I wouldnt be surprised if the 1 billion number includes different types of trooper, we've had snowies and dark troopers in BPs. surely those must add up quickly, although that does lead to the question whether or not some clone trooper varieties got counted in as well (while the difference may be obvious to us, they are just another white trooper with a helmet on to non-clued in people) -
You've got 28 of them right? Id say keep as many as you can think of using in a single MOC (10-14?) and sell the rest, prices are good, and a few hundred extra bucks for something cool will probably give you more joy then having 14 unused tires sitting in a cupboard, chances of a cheaper alternative coming along or material degradation taking its toll on your tires before you would use all 28 are pretty high id imagine

[MOC] Simple Supercar
Vectormatic replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
WOW, not exactly simple imho, excellent looking and nice amount of features! I agree with tibivi though, the color scheme could probably be better, maybe all orange or yellow for that McLaren/Lambo look? -
Thats a cool little mod, two small nigles though, 1, your navigation lights are flipped on the main wings, 2, the panels on the tail i *think* were supposed to be the intakes for the jet engine, by using them to close up the tail you've turned it into a glider Cant wait untill i find one of these on shelves!

Im pretty sure the guy who did the huuuuuge boom also changed gear ratios for raising the boom early on

2 hours, wow... I seem to remember 42039 taking me 5-6 hours (spread over a few days because kids..), and 75106 also took me 3-4 hours

I bought 17 of the Rebels ones in the last few months, and ive got another two dozen ones from older sets, and that is not counting snow, sand, scout and dark troopers and tie pilots. Ive got quite the sizable imperial army by now, but im willing to bet it still gets dwarfed by most guys on here -

How about European parents who havent been able to get a baby sitter yet? -
€70 in NL, absolutely insane for 409 bricks, i guess the €110 600 brick sith infiltrator really was the new standard
-
Just the BPs and €35 sets though, havent seen a MF or bigger set yet

Not a purchase, but i just finished building my 75106 Imperial Assault Carrier, and i REALLY enjoyed it, it is a very nice ship, the numbered bags all build a nice isolated piece of the model, so you really see it coming together, its got me contemplating getting another similar sized SW ship soon, but im not entirely sure what to get (already have an ISD, and im mostly an empire fan) The ARC-170 is my favorite MF so far, it just really works very well. I also got the Republic gunship, and its nowhere near as nice. Im looking forward to the T70 X-wing, but im saving it until after ive seen the movie

Lego Ninjago 2016
Vectormatic replied to LegendsOfNinjago's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I absolutely LOVE the Sky Shark, its a sharp looking flyer, and all the little details, the ye-olde flinklock rifles used to hold the side fins, the rows of pistols mounted in the front, the chains, the treasure chests worked into the engines, lovely stuff, very scifi-steampunk-pirate I dont follow the show, and im not a big ninjago fan or anything, but some of these sets are just completely awesome, even out of context -
Lego isnt a car though, its a hobby (which cars are for certain people as well, hell, Toyota sells their GT86 in special tuners version with unpainted bumpers and steel wheels in japan), and part of that is outgrowing Lego's designs and modifying them, and growing into MOCing As for doing the job its meant to do, the problem with 42039 is purely aesthetics imho, which is right there on the box. And to a non-purist, it totally looks like a convincing racing/LMP car Fair enough, as i said, im not into cranes at all, i just happen to really like that set, my entire technic collection is race cars and motorcycles, but here i am, considering a crane
