The DC-3 is missing only ~35 parts to finish assembly. It is actually so low in price, I can't get it by itself with reasonable S&H. Thus, I decided to attach it to my oil well / Nodding Donkey list to make it $22 before shipping and handling. (For those wondering, I still have my Edna Mode modular fashion building + Herbie VW beetle to be built as well at some point. It remains to be seen which combo list will be built first, as each are about the same price as the other.)

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
- Emperor Palpatine initiated Order 66 (a almost-total erasure of an entire religious order), cleansed the Geonosian world of all life (not the only instance of this either), and blew up the planet of Alderaan. - Lord Vader kills his own officers for incompetence / bad luck / insert reason here. He also tried to kill his own son and mentally tortured his daughter. - Lord Voldemort murdered people liberally, had his magic snake impersonate a dead woman, tried to kill baby Harry, tortured Neville's parents into insanity, etc. - Thanos turned half the Universe's lifeforms to ash just because he wanted to impress Death. He also killed his adopted daughter, Gamora. - Daleks exterminate everything non-Dalek... even other Daleks considered 'impure'! - Cybermen convert people into more Cybermen against their will. - Nazis and communist Russians from Indiana Jones. Both countries killed mountains of people in the thirties and forties for Germany, and for Russia, 1918 until the mid-'50's. (or still to this day, depending on your viewpoint) - Cruella De Vil wanted to make dog-skin coats from PUPPIES for no reason other than 'because high fashion'. ...I think they just didn't make High Evolutionary because they didn't want to. Everyone above beats him by a country mile in evil department, and all the above have LEGO figures already. -
Action and Adventure Themes G.O.A.T.
Murdoch17 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Totally agreed on Adventurers and Ninjago. I will also add Atlantis and Monster Fighters also deserve spots: the former for it's use of a TV mini-movie as a kind of proto-Ninjago, and the latter because it's iconic. (How can you say no to what is basically a unofficial Universal Monsters line?) -
It's been seven years since Jungle theme?!? Man, I suddenly feel old. (Then again I remember wanting the original Adventurers elephant 20 years ago)

totally agreed! The VW / turtle bus, crocodile / racecar and a few others especially.

The rerailer is also in set 60335, (the 2022 train station) so this will be it's third outing. But you are correct, it's a fantastic part. Its useful for railing engine with many wheels on several bogies. For example, it's incredibly difficult to get my Milwaukee Road bipolar electric (14 wheel sets total) on the tracks without it!

Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Huigberts Builds's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's from Up. Spirit of Adventure is Charles' (the bad guy) vehicle. Kevin is the bird he's been seeking for over sixty years. You made me add the Ulysses submarine from Atlantis: The Lost Empire to my list. That was my FAVORITE Disney film growing up. -

I'll be devastated if at some point we don't get the Spirit of Adventure zeppelin with Kevin and Charles. (Maybe throw Dug in there too to get more use of the mold.) Sadly, I don't think you could do it justice even at 120 without it being microscale. Also on my radar would be Casey Jr. steam loco from the original animated Dumbo (the live action remake loco is far too creepy, honestly.) -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

I STILL want a female companion to the Hippie from S7 from 2012... -
@Naufragio It appears to be a white 2x3 tile with a custom (non official) print on it. Part number 26603 for the plain version.
-
Personally, I want the turtle / VW bus / shroom shop for my groovy hippie couple in my CITY. That way they can be flyin' and never leave the ground. I just have to decide whether to remove the turtle bits or not...

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Murdoch17 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
That's only temporary, though, because the dad always "goes out for milk and cigarettes" at some undisclosed store someplace very far away. He'll be back sometime soon... right? (I'm sorry if I'm off topic. The above comment by @williejm was just begging to be replied to as I did ) -
This set is also our second complete station EVER in LEGO based on a real location (the first one was based on the same location in set 10132 from 2004, nearly 20 years ago!): Goathland Railway Station was where the film series was filmed up to Order of the Phoenix. (I would count Kings Cross, but one platform doesn't make a up station... especially one as large as Kings Cross!)

Set 10020 Santa Fe originally also in light bluish gray?
Murdoch17 replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
It could be cobbled together from original and newer parts. The doors are old gray, and windows original prints, but the others parts are LBG, so it's probably a custom hodge-podge. This is one of the very good reasons I don't do Ebay, only Bricklink... it's too easy to get taken advantage of on Ebay. -
You might be on to something there! I sincerely hope you're right... Also, prices for dark red four-pane doors are going to come down, thankfully. I need a few for my MOC later-day Hogsmeade station.

The sad story of the Red Super Warrior
Murdoch17 replied to primocucu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's possible they only wanted to release this one figure. Or, it didn't sell well enough to warrant another. Or any number of production reasons we can't fathom because we don't work for LEGO. The only "mini themes" are the duos that sometime pop up over the years. I can think of is the red / green dragon, caveman / cavewoman off the top of my head, but their are probably more. I don't think they do more than duos, though, so a whole team isn't going to happen. Besides, we have so many potential other duos unfinished... For example: where is the Hippie (series 7)'s female companion? It's been over a decade, and all we've gotten is a revamped version in 2017 (Flower Child)! ...anyway, I hope this answers your question, @primocucu. -
Thanks @JeanGreyForever for the compliments! Agreed on the set being too small. Thank you @Shiva! I have another building I'm working on getting up to modular standard to fit in the box with the house, and it's also Pixar related. It's Edna Mode's designer fashion shop, which you can see over in the town forum.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Santa Visit and Winter Cottage look nothing alike and have completely different design styles: It's not a re-release or even a re-do. They are just both houses with blue walls and white snow on the roof. But to your question about modular buildings: No they won't release them again. Café Corner and other early modular series models have prints that have been replaced, parts that are retired, and design techniques no longer considered 'legal' by Lego. They've even said it isn't going to happen, and they go into great detail about the modular series in a whole chapter of the book "The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks". Besides, would you want a re-release or a new modular? Either you make the fans who missed out real happy by re-releasing an outdated model like CC, or you grow the brand instead of retreading old ground by making something nobody has seen before, and sell tons more units. Sorry, but it just isn't going to happen. -
So I built my expanded modular Pixar UP house, but the box it's going in has room for another building of 16x32 size. Instead of just making another building from scratch, I decided to transplant Edna Mode's fashion shop onto a modular standard base. I got 98% of it done, but the twenty 2x2 tiles are the one part I'm out of completely. (They will be ordered when I get paid next month, along with a few older projects as I clean up my backlog.) Thoughts?

The UP house MOD with modular base and back half is done! You can view more pictures in it's own topic... I don't want to clog up this one. -
This copy of set 43217 (UP house) has an added back half I bought instructions for off Rebrickable. You can see that model by user rykfield here. The model deviates from the film slightly, as there is a driveway with a 1960's car parked on it on the right hand side of the building as I figured Carl Frederickson needs a way to get around! (Please excuse the dusty keyboard) The new back half is very film accurate! The inside of the front of the house. I rearranged some of the furniture, replaced all the picture stickers with printed parts from various other themes, and added a a rug to the living room. The new back half, with furniture ideas drawn from several older modular buildings. (TV from Corner Garage, recolored wicker chair from Detective office) The modular base with the house removed. SQUIRREL! This early 1960's car was inspired by a 2013 LEGO CITY Undercover car. It was rebuilt by Labronco Brick Designs as seen here. I modified it a bit and remade it in blue instead of the original red The tailfins are my own addition to the car, making it either a late 50's / early 60's model. The car seats one figure, with a suitcase (or a walker) fitting behind the driver. That's all for this MOC. If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, or complaints, let me know below. Thanks for reading!
