  1. Seeing this thread jump up in the forum almost gave me a heart attack. I got really, really excited for a second there... But yes, I agree with you 100%. Maybe since Disney is distributing now outside the UK we will get new sets... but I'm not holding my breath after the current Indiana Jones fiasco.
  2. Almost or completely running out of air seems to be a common thread amongst early submarines. (just ask the CSS Hunley's crew!) Fantastic MOC, love the many details!
  3. The real world ones are just as bad. It wasn't a good time for Lego instructions...
  4. I also grew up with these two, along with The Little Engine That Could. Of those three, Tootle was top bedtime reading material, but that waned once I could read for myself - Thomas took over then, as my coverless and well-worn semi-complete collection book can attest. Thank you @evancelt for bringing back fond memories of my youth.
  5. I got four free totes full of Lego. Three from one friend, one from another... both were just giving them away. I found a bunch of chrome from a UCS Naboo Starfighter, Narcissa Malfoy, and a Clone Commander Fox (sans helmet) in three three totes. I also got a crap ton of wheels and clocks.
  6. Love the MOC! The text reminds me a bit of the Little Golden Book "Tootle", with the "always stop for a red flag, no matter what" line being straight from that book. Funnily enough, both Tootle and the first book in The Railways Series both came out in the same year: 1945. Now how about that for a coincidence!

    EoL-List

Lego doesn't release this info to the public, and there are no lists like what you seek @Cerobien. When a set goes EoL, it's usually a surprise to everyone that it's not being sold anymore. It used to be sets hung around for three or more years (back in the 70's), then two, but in modern time some last weeks or even days (Cuusoo / IDEAS' Curiosity Rover lasted 10 days in the USA and that was it, for example.) but most times it's over 1 & 1/2 years from beginning to end of a set, depending on a whole bunch of factors that we the public will never know.
  8. She drives herself in the two animated films that I'm basing this off of. That butler guy from the late-90's live-action remake + horrible sequel did drive her in that series, but the car was black and white in those two films. Thanks for the suggestion, though @JopieK! Thank you @Jdrewg!
  9. This car is owned by Cruella De Vil of "101 Dalmatians" fame in the classic red and black paint-scheme of that animated film... and no, its doesn't fall-apart like in the sequel film, "Patch's London Adventure". (at least, not on purpose!) I built the model by heavily stretching set 40532 - Vintage Taxi by about seven studs. This allowed for me to add in some mechanical details, although it might be a bit too long now. I added a covered spare tire at the rear of the car, and blacked out the back windscreen to give the impression of a fabric convertible top. As an added bonus, the car still seats two figures with room in the trunk for luggage. The whole point of building this car is to give Cruela from the upcoming Disney CMF her iconic vehicle back and complete her "look". I plan on buying this figure as soon as it comes out on April 1st. Thoughts?
  10. I made a little golden age of aviation-era poster for the plane, featuring a homemade TWA logo. I also updated the first couple paragraphs in the first post with a bunch of new text. Since the last time I produced pictures, I added a boomerang to the roof as a detail (I think those are supposed to be pitot tubes, but I could be wrong) and also placed the rear wheel under the revised tail-area. (You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get the plane to look landed in LDD: lots of trial and error, and angling parts!) The pilot has also been added, and he's waving at us to say that's it's nearly time to depart!
  11. I say Mister Fantastic, because he's part of the first family of Marvel, and so everyone can scream themselves hoarse about the lack of the rest of the Fantastic 4. Also, he was just in the last Dr. Strange film, so that book might be good place to include him. But then, the same could be said for Professor X, actually... (And yes, I just want to watch the world burn. )
  12. Fantastic work! You might give @SavaTheAggie and his design a run for his money if you did the standard Warbonnet!
  13. Fantastic work: I love how well you fit the (very accurate) scenes inside the model!
  14. Congratulations to the winners!
  15. Back in the day, whilst flying you could get a real turkey carved right in front of you, stretch your legs without bothering your neighbor in front of you, and take whatever you wanted on board with you... peanut butter, toothpaste, shampoo, you name it! Need the smoking section? The whole freaking plane was the smoking section! Of course, tower radar wasn't really a thing (cockpit radar was a long way off too), flight instruments were crude, and inflight entertainment was either out your window, napping, or reading whatever book you brought with you. Crashes were also common with survivability rates poor, and there was no GPS to guide your pilot on his way.... but they did have paper maps, gut instinct, a lot of know-how and nerves of steel. (a quick silent prayer couldn't hurt either) So, buckle those seatbelts (if your plane has any!) and steady those pre-flight jitters - we're taking off! This 1936-designed Douglas Aircraft Company DC-3 was very heavily modified from limited edition Indiana Jones set 7628 (Peril in Peru, from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull film) and my own imagination. I redesigned the passenger cabin of the DC-3 to not have any pesky stickers as in the 2008 set. Sadly, the airplane's opening door has been removed as a consequence of redesigning the airframe. The colors are based off Trans-World Airlines (otherwise known as TWA) back in the immediately post-WWII period. It's not a perfect match for the paint scheme, but it doesn't use stickers, so I'm happy. The rear of the plane. Originally I wanted to build this airplane in green for Ozark Air Lines, but limited green wedge part availability killed that idea. (Ozark was headquartered at my local major airfield - St. Louis' Lambert Airport, from the early '50's until when they merged with TWA in 1986) The two front landing gear fold up. The roof of both cabin and cockpit come off to seat six passengers and one pilot figure. Thoughts? EDIT 7/14/23: Main post updated, model finished!
  16. just no. If it turns out to be a small world after all, I vote to tie you to a chair with headphones placed on your head. Into those headphones will be played it's Small world at a volume and speed guaranteed to break your mind into twenty thousand pieces. Rinse and repeat until we reach the desired effect.
  17. I'd kill for a updated DC-3 airliner, like in the limited edition 7628. (Peril in Peru)
  18. We have something close to that with the old 'Adventurers of Clutch Powers' film (the ORIGINAL Lego movie from 2010)! Also, this thread tries to get all the Lego worlds / asteroids / planets in alphabetical order, and does a good job at it. I swear there was another thread like it linking stories in official media, but I can't find it. EDIT: and here's one tracking universes!
  19. Thanks @OccamsRazor! You're best be as to how I did the rear wheels on my model is to watch the video instructions that were created for the original Hudson Hornet MOC by @hachiroku in 2017 for his model. It was that model that I stole the technique from. I can't really describe it, as parts are going every which way.
  20. Mr. Turner: Curse you Dinkleburg TLG! (Sorry I quoted the image, but it had to be done to make sense!)
  21. I remember @danth! I also remember it being tied to Atlantis, Adventurers, Pharaohs Quest, Power Miners, and Alien Conquest in the LEGO Magazine comics way back when. How? *puts on tinfoil hat* - Brains from Power Miners was in an second-wave Atlantis set. - Atlantis is shown being sunk by the Alien Commander in a past failed invasion that also had Amset-Ra as an ally of the Aliens (shown in the Magazine comic) until Ra's people rebelled and his powerful items stolen according to the storyline of Pharaohs Quest. - After the Commander's defeat in modern times, he released time-displaced dinosaurs to 2012 to spite the humans since he was defeated twice by them. (another comic) - Josh Thunder, one of dino catchers is Johnny Thunder's grandson, and serves as the scout of the team. (as revealed on LEGO website when theme was released) I also remember comics trying Monster Fighters, Galaxy Squad, and Ultra Agents together, but that's a tale for another day...
  22. Stupendous MOC, love the moving bridge feature!
  23. "Hang on Johnny, don't let Mike (or the bridge) go!!" ...now that I've got that out of my system, what a fantastic MOC! Love the film camera, and how Dr. Kilroy is oblivious to the danger his comrades are in because of the wonder of the temple carvings. Keep up the good work!
  24. Nice work, love the exhaust pipe detail and engine area. Adventurers FTW!
  25. Update: Sorry for the delay, but the car has been built for a month-and-a-half, while the building has just been ordered today. Real world pictures coming as soon as possible! Side note: it cost a little over $76 after Shipping & Handling, with twenty-six of that being shipping, fees, and taxes from four stores. (OUCH!)
