Agreed 100%! It would also make a good BrickJournal or Brick Model Railroad article...or maybe both!

I finally purchased the last 290 parts to make this Wild West train (the last one in the planned sequence of 7) come to life. The loco is based of El Gobernador, which was the biggest steam engine in the world at the time it was built. (It barely lasted past it's 10th birthday, however. Click the link to see it's Wikipedia page for more info.) ...anyway, the MOC should be built by October 1st, provided the U.S. Mail gets them to me in a timely manner!

(The Looney Tunes train parts that were ordered are assembled into the MOC, minus two missing side-rod parts coming with the loco seen below... so IRL pictures will have to wait a bit for that one!) The 4-10-0 styled after "El Gobernador" (from the 1880's Central Pacific Railroad) is ordered as of today along with it's corresponding military transport train. (Thanks for the suggestion @Rise Comics on building this loco!) The parts shown above are what remained to order from Bricklink after finding the rest in my own collection. Thoughts from anybody? Hopefully the loco fares better than the real world prototype did!

Welcome to Eurobricks @daemon4001! As far as your question: parts swapping is a safer bet as a good percentage of AFOL's shy away from painting official parts. (It's not wrong, it's just not a typical thing) I've been thinking about doing doing a version of the house in either tan or dark tan.

Hogsmeade Village Visit 76388 is ripe for conversion to WV @PGBQW. You just need to remove the HP build elements / stickers. I personally think the Honeydukes would work better in this case almost straight from the box (one needs to fix the chimneys to be the same height and that's about it), but the other building needs more work to be less wonky-looking. (I did so by deciding which series of windows I wanted - big 1x2x3 or small 1x2x2- and replacing all of the other type with this window. Also, one of the chimneys needs to be fixed here too.)

Generally speaking @Guyinaplaguemask, bumping topics more than a year-ish old is frowned on here at Eurobricks, unless you created the topic / have something really, really meaningful to comment, such as you built a version of it and wanted to show it to the original author. Though that may be pushing it too, as there are tags (such I used for you) for a reason!

Just so you know the lingo, SHIP = "Seriously Huge Investment in Parts" (or, a large spacecraft over 100 studs long). Usually built in September as part of a month long building spree. (it's more like a mad dash, really) The month usually involves a digital poster created at the end for all participants who took the correctly facing pictures and followed the rules. Join the new SHIPtember group here. They also have a discord going created by Simon Liu but I don't have link for that. Anyway, I designed a MOC in early 2017, as seen here that later became a Classic Space version with a very long body called "Project Upsilon". I have decided to tear apart the original orange vessel linked to above that proceeded the CS project I built for SHIPtember 2018 and expand upon it with features from the Upsilon design... which was recreated for the new orange colony ship I'm posting about due to the Upsilon file being lost. …If that's not confusing enough, it was all based on a 2016 MOC by @dr_spock as seen here. Now that you head is probably spinning so fast it's probably nearing escape velocity, here is the lowdown on this ship's lore: This is the "Separation Anxiety", one of four Nexus Force colony ships for cryo-frozen colonists headed for the Andromeda Galaxy at full 9.0 warp from Beta Polaris. The bridge crew is still awake, and will be for the whole journey due to a small time-stasis field enveloping the bridge only. Why do that for them and not the passengers, you ask? Simple: the ships' on-board power is fully devoted to colonist life support and engine thrust only. (They couldn't power the time field even at full power!) The eight large arrays on either side of the ship power the field, and can draw energy from the microwave background radiation present all over the universe since the Big Bang.... endless power drawn from the Universe itself, so to speak. NOTES: A removable cockpit roof is standard here, although the colonists area is empty and unopen-able. This should be finished IRL by October 1st, at which point it will be added to the "SHIP's: WIPs and Discussion" group 2021 thread for use in the poster. (hopefully it will exist this year!) The nose features the bridge crew area, with a single weapon attached to the very front. This was actually an advanced heat dispenser for the microwave arrays that can be quickly re-calibrated to cut through dura-steel up to a 30 feet thick like butter.. and anything organic nearby cooks thoroughly or is incinerated to ash from the radiation as well. (depending on distance from beam impact) This weapon has never been tested to full power, as it might destroy the ship in the process. The two extremely high-power Nuclear-fusion engines get the ship going in a hurry. They are capable of Warp 9 - which is just barely sub-light speed - but require half a solar system's length to slow down to atmospheric-entry speed. (You really don't want to incinerate the planet's crust your are trying colonize with your engine's high-energy backwash!) Parts left to find after doing a cursory check of the pervious IRL model. All in all it should cost $65 (before shipping) according to BrickLink's wanted list feature a it stands right now. I'm not entirely sure I trust that number 100%, but it should be somewhere in that general ballpark. Comments are welcome from everyone!

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
(list pared down a bit for clarity on the issue) All police sets are bad, yet these two are good? I'm terribly confused! -
A utilitarian space / Arctic freight train for my ice-bound Nexus Force base... it may not look very spacey, though. (I tried, it's more difficult than it looks!) This MOC features: - ALCO RS-11-like four axle diesel loco - boxcar with removable top and opening doors. - Nuclear waste flask car. Try not look at the glass sections for very long! - two couple of sectioned gondolas loaded with comet / meteorite samples.... and maybe a few frozen aliens inside! - bay window caboose for nuclear flask guards and train crew This model was originally a ALCO MRS-1 (which you can see in his instructions store here) built by @SavaTheAggie, but has been so severely modified that it no longer looks like the prototype loco. So I went searching and found another ALCO locomotive, a RS-11 that looks (kind of) like my new loco. Both my MOC and the new prototype have the four wheels, and the same basic hood and cab design as the MRS-1 that preceded it. I changed out the original grille bricks at the rear for grille tiles SNOTed-in sideways for a more consistent look when compared to the roof vents. I added back in Sava's maintenance cabinets from the MRS-1, yet attached them differently using newer parts. I also shortened the frame by six studs to fix the spacing problem created by the missing two wheels. The long hood of the loco has been designated the rear. The printed Nexus Force logo (from CITY Arctic 2014) goes on the curved 2 x 2 x 2/3 slopes on the front and rear hood ends, underneath the lights. This boxcar was heavily inspired by Time Gould boxcar design from the dying days of the 9v-era, otherwise known as 2008. (You can see it and his entire vintage train it came from, here on Rebrickable for free.) The roof comes off this car type and the loading doors open up. This nuclear waste flask car is loaded and ready for delivery to a waste storage facility at an undisclosed location. These open air gondolas are loaded with icy meteorite fragments, which may or may not contain hostile alien life frozen inside! No interior on this part of the train, as it's too crowded inside due to needed SNOT-work for the bay windows. This car was originally puzzled-out from this MOC's pictures. I'm already parting out the diesel engine, but the train will have to wait. You can see more details on the arctic / space base shown above in this thread in the Sci-Fi forum. Be warned, it needs to be updated with some newer stuff I designed! Thoughts? EDITED 9/6/21: added nuclear car photo and updated the main picture.

The Green Farm sign on the door... it's not a STAMP*, is it? *Sticker Across Multiple Parts, a not-so-well-liked idea not seen since 2009, with some exceptions. (Maersk Triple-E / train comes to mind as major violators of that rule...)

Check Rebrickable for some pretty cool paid and free instructions @hsousa. I host some of my LDD files (about 64 of them) on it's sister site, Bricksafe. Rebrickable has some other cool features too, such as allowing you to upload LDD files to check them for color errors in preparation for uploading to Bricklink. That's how I get my digital models built in real life.

Finally found the photos of the original MOC from 2012, (nearly a decade ago!) so the first post is updated! Now, onto the replies from people still around: As to your first point @Brickthus, that was my father's original intent... he just never got around to it, and instead make a WAY better version, that was front-paged not too long ago. Here is it's topic... it has mountain scenery, a window wall, and picture windows to see inside the caverns above the tunnel. Fixed them as of 9/5/21 @KlodsMajor Sadly, you are correct, @Feuer Zug, MOCpages is gone... was going for a while too. I stopped uploading there in 2017 or so, due to issues with the hacking that was everywhere on the site. Eventually, from what I heard, my account was hacked too, and most of it was deleted by parties unknown. @mortenm @legotux This website your are reading this one has it's policies for a reason, and has been around since 2006. MOCpages wasn't the first to go... remember Photobucket? Gone too, and Brickshelf (the oldest one still around, about as old as LUGnet!) isn't allowing new members and goes down occasionally. It's just a matter of time... @hsousa hopefully, these restored photos will allow this topic to be revived. Any other thoughts?

I finally broke down and bought a Porky Pig figure from my local Lego resale store for use as the conductor on this Western train MOC. Thus, after much part-finding, hard-work, and dynamite-induced mayhem, the sliver train is just about ready to roll... as soon as the four driving wheels / cowcatcher get ordered! (the two blind ones you see are stand-ins for the actual wheels with flange that I had laying around.) Here are the parts still needed for Conjunction Junction depot and the steam loco as seen above. Thoughts? (sorry for the busy background on the WIP real-world shot)

Here goes my head-canon reasoning for having them Loony fellows around my Wild West Railroad: (As if these two needed any introductions!) - On the left we have train engineer Roadrunner. He and his payroll / mine train are always ahead of schedule, and he is constantly on the lookout to do things to help out other railroad personnel. He is a model loyal employee, never complaining or talking back, is VERY efficient in his duties, and the best part is he works for birdseed! - On the right is the hobo Wiley Coyote. This "Super Genius" bum is always trying to hop / derail / wreck / obliterate Roadrunner's train. (in which he hasn't succeeded once!) He is possibly formerly employed by ACME Corporation, as he always dynamite or other devious devices of their branding ready at a moment's notice. Wiley being without any money, one wonders whether he stole this TNT from the silver mine the payroll train comes from. (Disgruntled ex-mine worker maybe?) These two will be on - or around - my Western silver mine train, (loco Number 7, slightly based off set 7597 and shown in WIP form in background) which will be finished in early November of this year.

This building was heavily inspired by a Winter Village MOC by Brick City Depot from who I bought a copy of some instructions from in 2015. (The link to his store's site is here.) I added a back wall to the building, made it look more late 1920's / early '30's by adding painted wooden siding, and removing the Christmas-time items. Also, several items are missing prints in these pictures that would be fixed in real life. Please note: Both these OCTAN models go with my Hogsmeade-style MOCs... and yes, I know that doesn't make sense with Harry Potter cannon. I don't really care, it looks good next to them so thus it stays! The front of the building with the two art-deco gas pumps. The four yellow 1 x 2 tile parts should have warning stripes pointed on them, and the twin pumps should have OCTAN labeling on top as well. This rear portion of the building is new, along with the removable roof section. It's a little crowded inside, with two shelving racks, a service counter w/ cash register, and a printed poster for Radiator Springs on the wall. The gas tanker is a mashup of the truck in set 10222 (Winter Village Post Office) and the one in Indiana Jones set 7683 (Fight on the Flying Wing) and should have OCTAN branding on the sides of the tank. It can seat a single driver figure at the wheel, too. The rear features tank controls and a rubber hose for filling up the gas station's underground tank. Thoughts on this future addition to my expanding small town?

Can't wait to see it finished @Modeltrainman! I just added the completed Fred Gurley (Disneyland number 3) steam loco's real world MOC pictures to the first post! Thoughts?

I've been staring at Hogsmeade Village Visit (set 76388) for a while now (ever since pictures leaked!), trying to figure out how to fit it into my vintage city... I think I may have figured out how to do so now with the added rear halves and removed Winter snow parts. This model's front half was originally from the Honeydukes sweet shop portion of Hogsmeade Village Visit. I added a look-alike back to it, changed the color to red, and turned it into a small post office with inside details on both floors. I also added a truck I built in real life way back in 2011 - modeled after the official Winter Village Post Office truck from set 10222 - which is now back to being used for a postal truck. (I have determined said truck is styled like a Ford Model AA (wiki link) just based on the front end alone.) Yes, the model is missing nine parts not in LDD. This includes four each of parts 48208 and 48205, and one of 35563, all in black for the roof. Inside features are as such: - Ground floor has the public area, with pay counter and several boxes / crates waiting to be shipped. - Upstairs (even though there is no stairs!) is the sorting area with plenty of mail being gone through to be delivered to it's destination. Everyone may have heard of the Ford Model T and maybe it's successor, the Model A. But here is something you may not know: The Model T and later Model A both had trucks made from the basic principles of those cars. They were called the Model TT & Model AA, which is where this Lego model comes in, as it's based off a Ford Model AA truck. (or at least that's what I think it it is - the model was originally from set 10222, Winter Village Post Office.) The rear of the truck has two tail-lights and a license plate. MODEL NOTES: The building can only open 90 degrees due to interference from the roof and building footprint. (The post office will be built shortly after the Polar Express house, and then the heavily-modified 76388 tavern early next year.) Thoughts?

Thanks @noahtheb, but it has since been changed due to prohibitive prices on some of the needed parts. This is how it look when bought, and parts finding from my own collection has knocked about $70 US off the price, down to about $80 from BrickLink. (There are some parts that will be ordered from Brick & Pieces that are not included in that price, due to being unsure of price / availability from LEGO direct at that point.) The building was originally winter themed, but it clashes way too much with my other buildings that way, as they aren't winter themed. So here it is without the snowfall on the roof sections, and minus the Christmas decorations / snowman. Basically, it's a normal townhouse now, but can be quickly converted by slapping white tiles onto the roof / adding a decorated pine tree out front. Thoughts everyone?

@Modeltrainman This is from the 2-4-4,but it is the same pony truck design as on the 2-4-0, except the piston cylinders don't stuck out as far on the that Ernest S. Marsh. (1 plate less on each side) bottom view top view. I didn't know exactly what you needed, but it is based off the trailing truck from the Emerald Night (10194), so I think that model should give you some hints if you get stuck. Hope this helps!

Post your Star Wars sets remade in iconic space themes
Murdoch17 replied to ncx's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I may have a few. This is a heavily modified Classic Space version of 2018 Star Wars set 75217 (Imperial Conveyex Transport). It's length has been doubled and the visible weapons have been removed, to make more room for passengers. Behind the trans-yellow glass of the former cargo-cars are seats, so that workers can get to Benny's space base without driving in themselves. (Call it a commuter light-railroad system, without the "rail" part!) I really like this ship and have since I first saw it, I just had to wait for the instructions for set 75293 (Resistance IT-S Transport from Star Wars) to come out to make sure it could be built in real bricks with the changes I had in mind. (which were quite a lot!) I'm so glad I chose to do it in LDD first before just buying random bricks, as it required SO many modifications to the design (including an actual windscreen and extended cargo bay!) and changing other colors, that I would have been completely lost just swapping parts out at random. But now, here it is, finally, in real bricks: LL-202 Interstellar Frigate. The new set 75311 (Imperial Armored Marauder) has been transformed into a Classic Space version, complete with revised forward-facing side guns. All the hatches still open, but I couldn't use space seats inside this one, but there are plenty (four per vessel) of 2x2 modified tiles with just enough room for air-tanks in the model... at least I hope that will be the case! (Digital only right now, but with plans for buying two soon!) This ship is actually a MOD of set 7133, Bounty Hunter Pursuit from the 2002 Star wars line. It has been repainted Futron green and white with a Jack Stone piece used as a canopy. I have more digitally designed (Imperial / CS Patrol bike, Naboo vessels in a few schemes) but not built. I'm not sure if / when though they will get built, so I'm not posting them here.- 3 replies

Well, I had my dad drop all his 2-4-4 (for the Fred Gurley, also known as Disneyland No. 3) parts off today and this is the result of today's building session for this locomotive. I was thinking I was going to be able to finish it today.... …However, I sadly could not. As you can see, the thirteen parts shown off on the screen are the missing ones, which I KNOW were ordered, as I triple checked the list before my dad ordered anything. (The 3rd party red wheels are actually here, but the remaining needed axle holder is not, so they can't be attached yet... same is true of the smokestack, which is missing the headlight holder piece to set both in place.) I guess he will have to make another order this weekend...
