  1. Uggggg....enough with the speculation. Unless someone has something concrete, with sources (more than heuristics) lets just silence this post unless something real comes available....
  2. Wow Jeroen - I admire you for taking another stab at this crane. There have been so many great renditions of this model..... but who cares? I never grow tired of other models of it. I think it is such a fantastic machine. I have never made this comment before, but probably should have. When I built my large rendition of 42009 (signature block) there were some catches in the drive train and boom when extending. It sat on my shelf for years, but then I got it out again, dusted it off, etc. Still had kinks. About a year ago I rebuilt the whole thing, but coated all axles and gears in drivetrain, boom, outriggers, etc. with silicone lubricant. Real machinery uses axle grease, oil, etc. in the mechanics, so why not Technic? I admit for most models in Lego it is not needed, but when there is alot of weight, friction, or speed it is needed. Used often in pneumatic engines (lego) but I don't think we use it enough in our large, technical builds with large gearboxes or friction. Anyways, it was a ton of effort to coat everything, but it worked perfectly after. It really was the solution. You may want to consider doing this......
  3. "community" is the operative word here. In any community there are still rules and regulations, written or un-written, that when violated members have a right to stick up for one another. I get the sense that the OP was trying to call out or shame someone whose, so far by democratic vote, was doing nothing wrong. When some people are being too sensitive, and they try to blame others for their frailties, it does no good to support that. I don't see any of the postings thus far, as trying to "treat" the OP in any way. Don't confuse one's ire with evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the community. There are some in life that will draw their own ire no matter how careful you try to be.
  4. Admittedly, I don't have much to offer this forum about anything technical. I have no training, education, or expertise in anything technical. But what I cannot offer in technical expertise, perhaps I can offer in social. As a practicing clinical psychologist, my whole career is built off of trying to learn about people's behavior and presentation, and view it objectively. With this intro, I say the following: I can tell on nearly every single MOC posting the reason why the member is posting their MOC. Usually falls somewhere on the "building as an end unto itself versus a means to an end" continuum. When hypersensitivity, paranoia of others' perceptions, and an inability to accept feedback predominate one's activity online in forums such as this, I can tell you where they fall on this continuum. @Bublehead, whereas I defended you on your initial post I can state, fairly certainly, where you lie. When building is a means to fulfilling the need for recognition or social "likes" I don't think the outcome on forums such as this one will ever be positive. It is too easily recognized and is a distraction from the hobby we all love. Also serves as the complete opposite of the "childhood wonderment" discussed in one of your last posts. Negative emotions when others don't fill your social needs is likely to occupy your experience, and sooner or later that negative emotion is spewed out to others. That is exactly what occurred here. This being said, I think staying away from this forum is a good idea. Sounds like you are entirely frustrated with your experience.
  5. Oh dear, not this topic. Please god, not this topic. Quite literally been discussed like a billion times before.
  6. It really is impressive. I agree. I know its no fun having nothing but i can at least appreciate the efforts of tlg in keeping things under wraps
  7. Are we sure pics will be released on one may? Or is this just speculation?
  8. A still pic is literally in the web address in the response you quoted. You dont need more than this pic.
  9. Fun to fiddle around with right? I like your rendition. Too bad i think, at this scale, it will be too small for 42083, yet i think TLG version will be too clunky and large. But i could be wrong, we shall see shortly.....
  10. This would actuallly make a terrific official set. Still dont think a technic moc would ever get accepted on lego ideas, but if one did, I think it would look something like this.
  11. For a second there i thought the otherwordly Sariel had a question, then, no...wait....he already answered it Great submission, fascinating indeed.....
  12. I have been watching this thread now for a while but since @Leviathan has not posted his model, I will. He had a working WIP thread here: I thought it would be best to post here (I will let him post his finished youtube video on his own WIP) because of the proximity to completion and the release of 42083 (this thread). Now, the easy and tempting outcome would be to compare 42083 and models such as the one above. Fun exercise, to be sure, but not fair for reasons I will not re-hash here, but have been more than vocal about on other similar threads, mainly 42056's. However, couple of things I would like to point out are: - I can both see, and not see 3500 pieces for 42083 (even though all we have is a lousy picture). I can see it, b/c, certainly it is possible in a 1/8 scale model. @Leviathan rendition is indeed approx. 500 pieces even more than the purported 3500 of 42083. But you can see how this is possible in the video. Incredibly dense build, full , dense chassis and except for a slightly raised roof a near flawless, gapless body (and in many parts, overlapping panels). 3500 pieces in a 1/8 scale model? Totally possible, and even then some. However, I say I can't see this in 42083's future because I know TLG will not produce something as dense and gapless as the above. No way, no how. Not to mention @Leviathan's model is jammed packed with functions. Simply will not happen. I am not doubting 3500 pieces right now, I just don't, as with others, see where those pieces will all go. - In my opinion, small gaps are fine. But they only increase my doubt about the 3500 pieces, or at least increase my curiosity as to where all that extra beef goes. - Expectations for the car will continue to be variable, but IMO, will be relatively bimodal, with one camp understanding that Lego is still a toy (even if it is tailored to adults), that has restrictions that AFOLs don't ( @Leviathanmodel above uses pieces whose molds likely have been destroyed for years, if not decades....i.e old panels), etc. and the other camp not getting that at all. I certainly fall into the former camp. - I will likely end up buying the Bugatti - not really to build it (though I certainly will) as much as for a parts pack - because I know many out there in our wonderful community will eventually present models that will lead to countless hours of fun and creative building for others. @Didumos69 nearly single-handedly provided many hundreds of hours, across many different individuals, of play/building for 42056. I am sure we will see something similar from others with the Chiron. Paul Boratko has created several wonderful new cars, that although are not exact B models for the Porsche, that bviously really ely on the set if one wishes to build them. I am sure he, or others, or combination of both with use the Chiron as a parts pack to create several stunning new builds. My point is - if TLG does not meet your expectations with this car, have no fear! Turn to the members who comprise this and other AFOL communities; I am sure some creation will result from 42083 that will.
  13. There are actually many. Yellow is notorious for high shade variation.
  14. Hmmmm....look more for other materials and shape. Careful with various shades of color. Genuine Lego parts are also known to have high color variation.
  15. Fun video and creation. Have you thought of the large balloon tires (UCS Tumbler)? the Unimog tires are fairly heavy and hard. Your suspension is great but softer tires might even help the landings even more.
  16. very cool creation. I think making official sets larger and better can be a lot of fun. The rotating drill bit head is marvelous!
  17. I am now building @Didumos69's Hammerhead Supercar and have built many others MOCs by some of our more seasoned builders. I begin my remarks with this only to point out how lucky we are to have great MOCs like this to enjoy and learn from. This model is a joy to try and digest. The gearbox is wonderfully complex - So happy you stuck with the project! I also agree with the color scheme as my only grip. Light green front headlights with a different roof color than the rest of the build is not my favorite. However, overall - absolute joy to see and learn from. Thanks for sharing.
  18. There have been alot of pneumatically powered cars out there in the past. I also build and drove a pneumatically powered Unimog which required about 5 feet of hose (more or less the same amount you are proposing). The hose was not an issue. And whatever delay there was supposed to be was more or less negligible.....
  19. I really like you following the Blacktron theme. Even more, I like that you build a more or less contemporary machine, but with a futuristic take on it. Keep it up. You could do a regular passenger plane in Blacktron, a crane, a..... - you get the picture.
  20. Dont forget: All unmodified Lego. Though too small for 42083. Honestly, the above looks a little messy from underneath, though from above looks great. Id like to see it in action.
  21. It does look pretty good. And the job he did is quite nice. Though if you look really hard you can tell they have been cut. The variation in the cut studs at the top is too great to have been done by a mold.
  22. This is going to sound much more negative than it is meant to. I truly don't mean anything nasty by this. You complains seem to be a constant theme in some of your posts. If this really bothers you as much as it seems, perhaps the following advice could help. When you introduce a build by how little time or effort you put into something, and pics, details, etc. seem to really reflect this what really do you expect? I can understand the desire for a fun and light build as much the next guy, but the need then share it and receive a lot of attention from others, when you acknowledge it is not a serious build is something that I do not understand. I think the constant comparison of your builds to others on this forum might be part of it. If so, you may want to keep in mind that usually others spend months of planning, working and reworking, use of actual plans, etc. to create their finished project. It is quite obvious that a lot of work goes into such builds. Again, if you style is more laid-back and just for fun rather than for recognition that is great. IMO that is the whole reason for the hobby. But to take that approach, be open and upfront about it, and then complain the lack of attention others give what you present..... well, I just don't really understand it.
  23. Terrific job, as always. Couple of things I like: 1- 2 BuWizz in Ludicrous mode? 2 RC motors? Sign me up. Way to keep speed in such an iconic car (at the time) which (again, at the time) was really known for nothing more than having a huge engine. 2 - Optional variants in gear box, motors, batteries? Great Job! Should make the building experience for others even more pleasurable. 3 - Other than what I am about to share below, looks appear spot on. Only thing I don't like: 1 - Your overlay picture tells the whole story. The only area the proportions are off is where the windshield and bonnet (or snout of car) meet. This, in my opinion, leads to too sharp an ascent for the windshield and too long an appearance for the snout of the vehicle. Even before I saw the overlay pics I felt something was off, and that pic solidified it. Understandably, moving this connection up would perhaps interfere with where the engine is, and may have either precluding adding it or pushed it into the mechanics at the very front of the vehicle, but either way, I do think it interferes with the overall great look of this car. Other than that this is a great build!
