  1. so i am on the fence with v2. Bought v1 and loved it.....but not happy about v2 coming out so fast. Whats to stop them from a v3 coming out soon, or some form of more reliable v2?
  2. Thxs for the kind comments. Being abstract in nature, I am enjoying the comments from others' in terms of their individual interpretations of the build. I am heard several interpretations..... still waiting for someone to throw it in the camp of something like a Borg Cube - almost like a infinite Borg Cube that folds on itself. One does not have to reach far to see such how such an interpretation applies to all things space (and time)
  3. Wow, them placed on the living room table really puts it into perspective. And you might have to go somewhere else other than Ikea. Usually Ikea stuff doesn't come with built in locking mechanisms which you would need. I think @Blakbird is lurking around your place trying to find an in as we speak
  4. Members on the forum have no idea what your resources are. Lack of Lego is certainly never a reason to not build, but if a build does not seem complete or there are better pieces that may suit it and one just does not or cannot obtain them then, yes, one may want to reconsider sharing. I am not sure the comeback of not owning enough Lego is a defense that will get much sympathy. Again, build all you want - never, never, would I want to discourage that, but sharing with the whole world when one knows their piece selection and variety is limited only welcomes feedback like you are receiving on some of your builds.
  5. Actually, 42042 lifting capacity was quite limited, not because of the structure, but because of the use of clutch gears. TLG will always place clutch gears in favor of having sets returned b/c motors damaged parts, which, despite all the complaining of how weak LEGO motors are, they can do quite easily. For this reason I am afraid 42082 lifting capacity will be limited, just like all the other cranes. But perhaps this can be easily modified. Might be as easy as switching out clutch gears.
  6. Not only is this a great build, but I love just the idea. One of the complaints of 42056 was that it was not so much that it was big and clunky, but that it was big and clunky with not much options as far as accurate functionality. So why not replicating it, just on a smaller scale? Again, wonderful idea. Would have been an excellent idea even if it was not executed well. Cherry on top that you did.....
  7. Agreed. In fact, I am tempted to use the build as almost like a mother ship/base with a bunch of little builds surrounding it. Use this build as like background to mini builds or something. Lights have always been a big part of my MOCing. Not sure why really. I find it really relaxing adding lights to several official sets and my own MOCs. Thanks for the comments.
  8. Hey Everyone - Although I primarily build with Technic, I occasionally build in Sci-Fi genres. I have been a fan in all things greebling for a long time, and thought I would give my own personal tribute. Abstract in nature, not a ship, Hangar, or anything functional, only meant to showcase all things greeblie. Large project, at an estimated 8,000 pieces. Fully modular, based on cubes 12x12x12 (studs) to create a structure that folds on itself. Complete with PF lights: And many, wonderful, greeblie yummies: Check out my Mocpages (signature block) for more info and pictures. Check out my Flickr account for higher resolution pictures.
  9. I especially like the wheel arches used for the rear rotor cover. Very well done.....
  10. Exquisite. Even the teeth on the back shovel seem to be expertly planned. 8 Servo motors? 12 motors overall? Truly fantastic
  11. Ditto to what others have said... but that undershot of the ship is just fantastic..........
  12. lol.... I liked the shot of the truck peeling out in the snow....
  13. Terrific build and i actually love the pictures!
  14. This has been a great topic that has generated a lot of good discussion. But for it to continue without getting too many feelings hurt, I think we should refrain from specifically naming folks. Especially when the OP has even changed the title of the post due to the emotionally-loaded term "showing off" - and for what it is worth, I do not agree with the opinion expressed as it applies to the identified builder.....
  15. This is simply not true. There are many "new" members, especially as of late that have submitted terrific builds, and they are front paged. Members that are considered "minor" simply because they do not post much or are new. @Dawid_Szmandra's crane is a great example of this. Some "well-known" builders could likely get pretty much every single one of their builds front-paged (like perhaps @sariel) but they are not, to make room for new builders and those that may not post often, but submit something awesome. Lets not turn the discussion into this. People upset b/c their builds don't get the recognition they think they deserve. I am not sure what you mean by "rethink the pride" - but just b/c something does not get the attention we want it to lets not accuse others of stuff. My models never get tons of attention, but guess why, because they simply are not of the quality of others' builds. I know it, am aware of it, and accept it. Personally, I build for the enjoyment of it, not for others recognition. I like to share, but others responses won't dictate the enjoyment I get from building with Lego. Commenting that one's post doesn't get the comments one thinks it should has nothing to do with the OP's initial questions.......
  16. Simple yet effective.... I love the come-back of Blacktron....
  17. The idea for the turntable is not novel: but I agree I like the idea. As with others..... excited to follow this and see how it turns out. I see you mention the problem with the lights. How can you have an amusement ride without tons of lights ??? Wondering how you will address this problem. PF lights are sturdy and durable, but clunky at the same time and wider, fatter than thord party lights. Third-party lights are just the opposite, small and more nimble but fragile at the same time. Any idea what you are going to use?
  18. History speaks for itself in terms of speculation on preliminary photos. Technic fans do this every year. Its not a problem but it is fun to observe. Much speculation with cruddy pics only to get entirely revamped when real photos come out. I wouldnt put too much stock in early speculations from others. Just sit back and enjoy how things transpire....
  19. Not a moderator, but as a follower of this thread im quite done with comments, jokes, etc. About the price. This has been dealt with already. Jeroen should not have to keep hearing these.....
  20. Thanks for sharing this, man it is fun to observe the evolution of the technic genre. Functions are preserved....and the looks are just stunning.
  21. @Zerobricksis back! Iffy colors and looks, but terrific engineering and functioning! I love this build and its performance. One of the fastest trucks we have seen. BTW... congrats on the distinction of one of the best youtube channels.....
  22. Yea... I agree with others....... it really matters how much the motors differ in speed. If it is less than 10%, I would say that it may just be inherent differences between the motors, which we all know exists. I made a post about this last summer addressing this. Differences of less than 10% should not be huge problems as the resistance the slower motor receives (when hard-coupled) really is no different than the resistance of just working against friction when placed in a model in the first place.
  23. Terrific build and submission. Would also love to see the internals, motors, gears, etc.....
  24. I remember the days of space police.....ah.....the memories. Wonderful take on a classic genre.
