Well, I have to agree that the GUI is not... world's best looking GUI. But it works fine. And, since it has the part snapping and 3D editor and stuff like that, I can build so much faster in LDcad than MLCad. But, anyway, it's going a bit off-topic and it's personal preference after all- 220 replies

Then use LDCad instead of MLCad- 220 replies

And don't forget the PF L and servo motor for the more Technic oriented people -
It seems there's a new LDD update. I'm not too knowledgeable about LDD, but here's the topic to discuss everything that's new It's a 276.33 MB update the new Brick Version is 2075. Superkalle reports that there are (at least) 318 new bricks. Here's a file with all the new bricks (credits to Superkalle). Have fun!

I might have had the same issue (with a Moga Pro). I'm not sure, I'll check it (hopefully) later today.- 1,316 replies

[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad

@Krisandkris12 In the LDraw forums, go the the Control Center (top-right corner) then on the left side go to Forum Settings and then change the setting 'Message Reading Display Options' to something that you might like more. But of course, there's nothing wrong with posting here either -

Very nice! Are you going to add a red parts list to Rebrickable too? I don't mind the instructions being white, but my collection of red parts is much bigger, so a red partslist on Rebrickable would be appreciated- 220 replies

But according to Rebrickable's inventory, 50986 is the correct part (and 10886 doesn't even exist)

Yes, LDCad 1.5 has a new 'source editor' which is a like the 'source-editor' in MLCad (the text-lines at the top). It makes it much easier to re-order and move steps (easier than pre1.5 and faster than MLCad). You have to add it yourself though, .The upcoming 1.6 update probably includes support for rotsteps too

The 3D view in MLCad is really not that useful and it's quite slow. Switching between view and edit mode: I have no idea. I can't remember, that's how few I use MLCad nowadays But, I can't imagine your PC to be a noticeble bottleneck. Altough things can get a little heavier/slower with larger models, it's probably more the software than the hardware. But, I don't know the LDraw model or your pc hardware. so I'm only 99% sure

The site is working fine for me: http://www.teclem8.b...c.fr/index.html Or do you mean something else?
-
Well, it depends on the size of the model, but the short answer is: long. Especially for Technic models. Although, once you get more experienced, things go faster (at least for me, making instructions for a 2500+ pcs Technic model went much smoother the last time than it did the first time). I think the thing that takes the most time is just getting the instructions right: having good steps (not too simple, especially not to difficult), making sure it's possible to build, adding rotation steps etc. etc. And, of course (especially for paid instructions) you need to test-build the instructions multiple times. The actual layout (with callouts, multiple steps per page), cover pages and things like that, take the least amount of time. Also, buffer exchange (floating parts and arrows) can take up a lot of time. But, that's mostly due to MLCad. I (personally) can't work very well with mlcad and in my opinion it's slow, old and annoying to work with. LDCad is a 1000 times easier. It can't add buffer exchange though, but I try to add as much arrows as possible by hand in the pdf instead of in the ldraw file. Regarding slow lpub: yes, it's slow. You can try the newest version of LPub3D, for me it's quite a bit faster than the originial LPub. Also, you can change the settings to use LDglite as renderer for when you're working on the instructions. The quality is lower, but it's a lot faster. When you're 100% done, you switch to LDView and then render the full instructions.

Personally, I don't have that problem. Although the drawers in the older version (which isn't available anymore) were made of a better, sturdier plastic, I don't have that problem with the newer version either. Although, when you stuff the drawer too full, the parts in it might get the drawer stuck (because, well, it's too full). But that's not a problem with the organizers, that's a problem with your collection being too large Well, actually, there's 1 model (in my collection) where's there's a little bit of the problem you describe. Some models (including the 'basic' model) have a middle support pillar, for example this one. Some don't, like this one (see the part with the small drawers. not the big ones). The ones without a center-pillar have reinforced 'floors' with several horizontal reinforcement pieces. The drawers have a little plastic edge at the back to make it possible for them to hang without falling out. However, that plasic edge might get stuck behind those extra support pillars when you pull the drawers out and 'downwards'. So, the ones with a center pillar don't have this problem. It's difficult to explain (especially in English, which is not my main language) and it doesn't affect all models and it's only when you pull the drawer in a certain way. I personally don't really mind, I almost never have a problem with it.
