42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator
legolijntje replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Jim has just a little identity crisis. But, I'm sure there will be 0 problems with the review -
Did you try the newest LPub3D version (2.0.3.729.1)? The changelog includes something about pdf export fix. Maybe it fixed your problem(s) too?

I suppose that's an LSynth wire, right? The easiest way to (probably) fix it, is to download the LSynth parts and extract them to your LDraw 'Parts' folder. Then refresh the LPub image and it should work. If you have more questions, feel free to ask
-
Well, if there aren't any standard parts available, you can always create your own Just create another submodel that only has the cable how you want it to appear in the parts list (for example completely straight, or rolled up). Then instead of using xxxxx.dat as substitute, you use submodelname.ldr as substitute. That should work I believe.

Today, a new major update of LPub3D was released. I suspect not everyone here is following the LDraw forums, so I figured I'd make a topic here too; it's a big update. It has some great new features (including a big speed upgrade) and a huge list of bug-fixes and other little improvements. Quoting Trevor: You can read the whole announcement and changelog here or say thanks to Trevor for his great work.

SBrick General Discussion
legolijntje replied to Nofer89's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Could be, I'm not sure. All I do know is that it was on sale and I saw it too late (when the sale was over) I'd like another sBrick, but now only at that sale price- 780 replies

SBrick General Discussion
legolijntje replied to Nofer89's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I believe you did sell black sBricks as a black friday sale/promotion last year, right?. So, it must certainly be possible to sell them directly into the desired color. Or at least in grey and black and separate cases for the other colors; I'm sure grey and black are by far the most popular- 780 replies

I like this one a lot too. A while ago I tried recreating it in LDraw (using the images), but I never finished. But this one from Shineyu looks also very nice. I especially like how you've used those sloped technic panels to make the 'container'. But, as others have said, the back looks a bit too high though.

No, that's not possible (as far as I know). Possible 'solutions' include changing the scale (so making the image smaller) or changing the paper from a portrait position to a landscape position. I remember I also read something about this a long while ago, but I can't remember it exactly. It had something to do with adding an (invisible) brick somewhere far from the model, which will 'move' the center of the image and thus will 'move' the visible part of the image. Again, I can't remember it exactly (and not sure if it'll work). But, it might be a nice addition to LPub3 to be able to move larger-than-page images. I'm gonna ask; who knows: maybe it's in a future update of LPub3D (if it isn't already and I just don't know )

You can use the following set of LPub commands : 0 LPUB PLI BEGIN SUB [substitute] [color] 0 !LPUB PART BEGIN IGN [flexible part/PF motor] 0 !LPUB PART END 0 LPUB PLI END Where the [flexible part/PF motor] is your, well, flexible part or PF motor submodel. And [substitute] is the LDraw part you want to substitute in the parts list (and is the color for the substitute). LDraw has parts for almost all flexible parts ready to use in instruction's parts list (although I don't know if they're official yet). So, when you have a submodel called powerfuncmotorm.ldr, you can use this: 0 LPUB PLI BEGIN SUB 58120.dat 71 0 !LPUB PART BEGIN IGN 1 71 20 0 -10 -1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 -1 powerfuncmotorm-1.ldr 0 !LPUB PART END 0 LPUB PLI END

sm1995's Ideas Thread
legolijntje replied to sm1995's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Because the steering wheel is at an angle, it looks way better than the one in the Porsche. Nice! I don't have the Porsche (yet). Are are there any functional differences between this one and the Porsche's one, or does it do exactly the same (just in a different way)? -
Help/Advice needed in LPub3D
legolijntje replied to Cjd223's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
LPub(3D) was always known to be not super fast (when using LDview as a renderer), but 2 to 5 minutes per page is... a lot. Let alone a week for the full set (although, 5700 pieces on 1400 pages is also a lot ). Take a look at this. If everything goes well, the next version of LPub3D will have up to 75% speed improvements when using LDview as a renderer. It'll still take a long time though. I mean, it has to render thousands of images for all the steps, substeps, parts etc. etc. Also, the page size shouldn't really have an impact on the speed. But, the DPI can. What DPI are you using? -
Hmm, really weird crash. I think there's something wrong with the LDraw meta commands in the file (or actually how LPub parses them), since the file works fine in other editors and viewers. Also note how (in your screenshot), the submodel doesn't have a step number. That's not correct either... I asked the author of LPub3D on the LDraw forums if he has any idea.
-
It does load fine in LDview. And, I can confirm that (as HallBricks noted) it also completely crashes using LPub3D on my Windows machine without any useful error message. I'll take a closer look at it now. @Roland. I highly doubt it's really a file amount issue. I've used waaaaay bigger files with LPub without a problem. And besides that. It's a fairly small model. anyway..

I believe the BWE has an XL motor?
